What is the stupidest thing you have heard someone say?

We were on a road trip with my brother and sisterinlaw. We stopped at a fast food place to eat. My brother, after studying the menu, ordered a cheeseburger without the cheese!!!! We all looked at him. He was serious. I said," Uh, that would be a hamburger". Then we all burst out laughing hysterically. It's a wonder we weren't kicked out of the place. Once you get the giggles, it's hard to stop:)

I actually heard someone ordering a big mac with out a bun.

My late husband and I adopted a baby boy from South Korea in 1987. He was 3.5 months old when we got him. I had a co-worker ask me what I was going to do about the language problem. I told her I wasn’t worried about that. She looked at me like I had two heads and said “Well, you know, language is born in.” I responded “No, language is learned.” She was having none of it and was sure I would not be able to talk to my son. I went back to my desk and collapsed in laughter. 31 years later it is still a great story. :rotfl:

When I was in high school, my mom was driving me and a friend somewhere. We were in the country and driving past farms.

Mom: I see the farmer got his hay bailed.
Friend: I thought it grew that way!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: My mom still tells that story 20 years later.

Actually, my friend's mom (different friend than above) will do that because she's allergic to gluten. McD's doesn't have gluten free buns.

You must have your passport to cruise, I know someone who was turned away at the port without it. (this from someone who NEVER cruised to me, who has cruised 15+ times, I KNOW the rules!)
That one's a little more understandable, however. There are cruiselines that require a passport for all cruises, regardless of whether you are actually required to have one or not.

So, if the "someone who was turned away" was on one of those lines, that's all the information they have.

Any one of a thousand+ nonsensical platitudes (can't repeat here due to the rules...).

Or listening to dixie people.

I worked in a high school office when I was pregnant with DS. A person who had her PHD came in my office one day while I was working on my computer. I was about 8 or 9 months along so baby bump was pretty pronounced. Ms PHD told me she was concerned about my baby and that maybe I should cover him/her with a sheet of aluminum foil while I was on computer. I did really good and didn’t laugh in her face.

This was the same person who thought it was a good idea for our local fast food places to give out condiments because the teen age pregnancy rate was so high. :rolleyes1

Have you ever ordered a Big Mac with out the bun?

I’d call that one more ironic than stupid given the fact a Big Mac has an EXTRA bun as part of its recipe. But, the special sauce is unique to the Big Mac, so it’s not like you could order a double cheeseburger minus the bun & get the same thing.

My college roommate - who was studying to be a teacher mind you - thought that Alaska was an island like Hawaii.

We saw a license plate from Alaska and exclaimed that "look, that car is from Alaska they had to take a ferry to get here!". I had to pull up a map and show her that you can drive through Canada...
