Are the value resorts worth it?

I know this is such a broad question but are the value resorts worth it or should we spend more money for moderate?

There's going to be 4 of us on my next trip. 2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 2. So we will need 2 queen sized beds. It'd be nice to save the money with the value resorts but I just don't know the quality of them at all or if they even have 2 queen beds.

It's worth it to know that we're hoping to go in Dec of 2019 when they usually have free dining so we're hoping to make it when that goes on. Any help would be great. We're thinking of either of the Port Orleans resort vs any of the value resorts.

TIA

Worth it is subjective. As far as queen beds, Pop has them, one of the all stars that is currently being renovated (I can't remember which one) has them.

I find them a little more busy than the moderate and deluxe but with the age of your kids, I think they would be fine.

The quality of the value resorts is still great and as a pp said POP has queen beds, and I believe that they are working on updating the All Star Resorts as well. It all depends on your touring style and vacation preferences. We use all of the amenities of the Moderate and Deluxe resorts, and spend quite a bit of time at the resorts, so the value resorts really don't work for us and how we like to vacation at WDW.

The values are great especially for kids. The giant icons all over the property is great and there are activities at the pool. They can be busy.
The rooms at POP are quite comfortable and the beds are queen size. One is a Murphy bed but mattresses are the same. If you need the table I suggest giving the stationary bed to the littles and using the murphy bed yourself so that you have access to the table when the littles are sleeping.

I don't think so, but I don't have old enough kids yet to really appreciate it so I may change my mind one day.

Super subjective question. Cause for the price of a value, you can get a full condo offsite with similar build quality to a Deluxe, but that's not always what people want out of their Disney vacation.

Personally, I think the rooms in a value are absolutely tiny, and my wife and I really only like King beds, with the kid in a separate room in a crib or playpen, so it's worth it to us to get a car, and deal with that so we can have more space offsite.

But, your kids are 5 and 2, that's the prime age to enjoy a value I think, so If you're flexible, just do that, and apply the money to a special thing like a dessert party or something.

They're just standard motel-quality rooms. They're clean and comfortable. I generally prefer them because I don't spend a majority of my time in the room so I don't really think it's worth the expense of upgrading if I'm only in the room to shower and sleep.

I like Pop just fine. Even before the renovations, it was the kind of motel room I grew up on when vacationing with my parents in the 80s and 90s.

Personally, I'd prefer to take the extra money I would spend on a Moderate/Deluxe and put it towards something else. (A tour. Upgraded dining plan. MVMCP or MNSSHP, depending on the season. A special meal. An extra souvenir. Or money saved towards my next trip.)

I'd say go for it and save that extra money for a trip in the future, or put it towards something special on your trip.

Values work for our family dd5 and dd7. We've stayed at most values and moderates... We don't make good use of the amenities at the moderates with our little ones. Pop has queen beds and might have gondolas "Skyliner". All Star movies will also have queens but were excluded from last free dining.

First, ALL Disney resorts are overpriced .... but ....

What will you get with the extra money for a moderate?
- Few extra square feet in your room
- Less Disney and more sedate exterior decor
- Hot tub and Pool Slide
- Table Service Restaurant except POFQ (and CSR has more than one)
- Multiple Bus Stops except POFQ
- Indoor bars
- More lush landscaping
- With Free Dining both value & moderate only get QSDP SO if you want the regular plan you will need to add upgrade to the cost of the rooms.

Queen Beds are at POP Century Resort and likely All Star Movies will be finished with Queen Beds.

Personally I set my nightly budget and look at what fits in to that.

I've stayed in value plenty of times. I'm not in the room a whole lot so it's not an issue.

With kids, the pools are good. If you have multiple days not in a park, it might be tough with small rooms.

I took a trip it was me (20) my mom and my brother (17) we stayed at Pop and we loved it. It was before the refurb so we had 2 double beds and it was a little tight but we were also full size adults. For your kids I think they’d have an awesome time at Pop or ASMovies. Plus the Values basically scream Disney with the decor

If all you view your hotel as is a place to put your head at night, that extra Disney Magic provides by the value resorts is definitely worth it, IMO. Can’t wait for our stay at Art of Animation!

We started with the values and worked our way up. We love the deluxes so we bought DVC. I’m out of points and am going to join my sister next month and staying at music. Do I expect to enjoy it as much as POLYor AKL.....no. But with it to me.....yes, because it was that or not go. I can’t afford to go a second time this year at a deluxe. I am planning on being at the parks a lot this time, because they are first timers. So it will be fine. In march when we are back at AKL, I will have more resort time planned. Worth it is different for everyone. Depends on expectations

All comes down to how you plan to use your time at Disney. Our family goes all day so it makes no sense to pay a lot more just to sleep. Figure out what your budget is and take a look.

Our last stay was our first value stay- at Pop. I did not expect to like it, but Loved It!!
The 2 queen beds, plenty of storage and outlets, plenty of room in the bathroom, 3 pools (no slides though) with lots of activities at the pool, cool decor, game room, lots of options at the eating area (nothing fancy or expensive- definitely not for foodies), clean and just happy.
I was surprised at how much we liked it and would not hesitate to stay there again!

There’s also covered bus stop area... and when it rains, it pours.. and meltable Sun, lol
At mods often multi transport modes .. ie POR has boat to DS, buses etc

IMHO “worth it” Op means something different to everyone. I typically never recommend values to first time visitors. If I do suggest it.. it’s to those with younger /under aged 7 kids.
Typically many more younger families at values, hectic and chaotic comes to mind lol

Each level of resort builds upon the next.. inside versus outdoor room access and more.
Good luck deciding, enjoy!

I love pop and would stay there everytime. We had a last minute two day trip in January and pop was all booked so we went with a moderate, Coronado springs, and it was good but I really missed pop.
Our family is a rope drop to fireworks family so we really only need a place to sleep and then somewhere to eat breakfast but even if you like to spend some time at the resort during the day pop is a fun place to be.
We've done the value with free dining and we aren't table service people so it worked for us really well.

My family has never stayed at a value because we tend to spend a lot of time at the resort, and we use the resort amenities. For us, there would not be the value that our money gets at a moderate or a deluxe. WIth that said, I think that cost wise, if a family is going to spend more time outside of the room, and in the parks a value is a perfect choice, and one that gives a lot for the money. The themeing is awesome, and the scream Disney. I do not know one youngster who would not be thrilled at the sight of one as you pull in.

Personally, I believe value and satisfaction for money spent is very personal. My DD ran into a Mom with her three little kids last Summer when it was triple digits heat index, and humidy that was oppressive. The kids looked like they were barely alive as they flopped on the late bus back to their resort. DD asked which resort they were staying at. GF. Oh, did they like it? The Mom had no idea, she had not used one thing there, not even the pool! Mom had been dragging them out first thing in the morning with a back pack filled with sandwiches, her cooler at the resort acting as a second fridge, and keeping them out til park close. SH told DD that she wanted to get the most out of the park tickets, but that the kids were miserable, and refused to eat the soggy sandwiches anymore. How much value there was in that resort for that poor family, I have no idea. DD did not have the heart to tell her that for what she spent on resort alone she could have purchased a lovely package at a value or moderate, and either bought a dining plan or had meals out, and still used resort amenities without feeling like the moeny was wasted. My DD paid less for their package at the Poly and they ate out every meal.

Look at your budget, look at your touring plans and then go from there.

We have liked the values just fine, but as my kids have gotten older we have graduated to mods and deluxes.

One thing you should consider is location. The values are the farthest from the parks, so if you're going to go back to the room in the middle of the day for a nap, it can take longer. Moderates are a tad closer and deluxes even more convenient.

I will say that I always likoe to stay on property. I like the Disney bubble and also like that I don't have to drive. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at a value if that fit into my budget best, but the moderates are very nice. I'm at the point now where I almost always choose a moderate or deluxe - they have water slides at the pools, which my kids (7,10) love.
