I love credit cards so much!

Haha - I read your comment as a response to me saying I should be a TA...LOL!

So a better response...my wife doesn't care. She's like "just tell me where we're staying"... So I'm left alone to overthink for hours and days on end :)

For everybody following my resort selection saga:
I've gotten it all broken down and analyzed now...
  • BC/GF = $4,452.80
  • BC/Poly = $4,433.32
  • YC/Poly = $4,414.37
  • YC/GF = $4,383.85
I will keep you posted on my selection, LOL!

I'm reading all of these in suspense...I want to know what you pick! lol I've only stayed at BC out of those, although I have visited them all. I think I would choose YC/Poly. Have fun deciding (and don't forget to tell us)!

:offtopic: WARNING...lol!

Ok...so now I'm torn friends. I'd love insight/thoughts from the Disney fans I trust the most...
  • Last year we stayed at Beach Club and Poly. It was nice...it worked well. No bus rides except on our AK day.
  • This year we were going to do Boardwalk/Contemporary with URs...well we know that blew up
  • So I booked BC/Poly again on a TA exclusive offer...was pleased with my pricing
  • Discounts come out today and suddenly I have other options...
  • I could book Yacht Club & Grand Flo for $49 cheaper than where I'm at now
  • I could book Yacht Club & Poly for $24 cheaper than where I'm at now
  • I could book Beach Club & Grand Flo for $21 more than where I'm at now
  • I could stand pat on BC/Poly
I have no idea what to do, LOL! We've previously stayed at BC/Poly/GF but Yacht Club would be a new resort. HOWEVER is it really that much different than BC? I mean, they're connected and use the same pool!! LOL!

I'm lost...any thoughts guys??

We've stayed at all of them and really enjoyed all of them. Any of those choices would be great. Put them up on a wall and throw a dart. :D

Ok. Thanks. I haven't met MSR yet, so it sounds like I'm quite a ways away from receiving the cert, which is fine. Hopefully it will be more obvious where to find it when it actually hits my account. I'll stop looking until after I meet MSR.

I can't quite remember where is was located in my account. Sorry.

Okay so Dh and I are pretty sure we don't want the Hilton Aspire. It has a large AF and we can't use the free weekend night on the type of room we want. Plus, the bonus points wouldn't even be enough for two nights. SO.....which of the other Hilton cards should we consider?

Well that's a shame that it won't work for you on the room type and resort credit. In light of that, I think the advice @SouthFayetteFan gave you is a really good!

That’s correct. Only for the main card. The AU’s do not get a separate Saks benefit.

Thanks so much. That's what I thought but I just needed to be sure that I wasn't missing something (like another $100 worth of free stuff from Saks to be exact).

I've been so busy I forgot that I wanted to ask about an email I got from Amex. They are offering me 10k MR's to enroll my BGR in the Extended Option plan. This is the one that I think @Lain mentioned waiting for and then doing??? I will be cancelling this card in three mos so I don't want to do this offer if it's gonna tick Amex off that I took this and then cancelled.

Do it!!! Easiest 10k MR ever. I enrolled in an extended payment option about 2 months before I canceled my personal Plat. No harm from that specifically.

I just did that on a BGR that I'll be cancelling in a month. I got the email on Friday or Saturday. I agree with @Lain - that should cause no harm.

MSR of $1k - You get 3 Hilton pts per dollar spent anywhere. (You can earn more if you spend in certain categories depending on the card).
Ah that makes sense.
Just be aware that you are using 5/24 slots if you get the personal no AF card. It may be worth it for you in your situation though :) That’s a personal decision
I don't think we will be getting any more cards after the Hilton cards so no big deal for us. Do you think we should apply for the personal no AF card or the business card first?

ETA: After posting this I realized we should probably do the business cards first since those have higher MSRs.

With AMEX...there probably isn't necessarily a right answer to this question. That said...MAYBE you apply for personal and spouse applies for business now. Then you each have a card to meet an MSR on and you can cross-refer each other in a couple months for the opposite cards... :)

EDIT: Don't forget to check out links on DISchurners...AND make sure you're using a link for the highest and best offer. Not everybody remembers to update their links there. There are definitely some links with the highest offers though.

I believe the best offers are 100k for $1k MSR on no AF Hilton Honors and 125k for $3k MSR on the Hilton Biz...(If anybody knows something different, share it here please!)

Anyone here planning to try the ABD Japan trip? Asking because that one is making me think seriously about ABD...

YC has tempted me ever since I found out they got rainshowers and raised beds (which you can put a suitcase under!) in the remodel! I stayed GCH after they got those features in their remodel in CA & I fell in LOVE! (GCH only has hard floor in the entry/bathroom and then the bedroom is carpet so it is an improvement on the YC remodel for anyone keeping track) ...Alas we are at BC on the upcoming trip as deal$ > rainshowers & suitcase storage!

@Haley R - quoting myself here because you liked this comment BEFORE I made my quick edit lol! I wanted to make sure you didn't miss the edit portion lol!

Huh that's a good idea. It's only $4,000 in 3 months and we could easily make that work.

I have another question for you or anyone who knows about Hilton. We booked a one night stay at a Hilton before our October trip. Do the points get added after we actually stay there? If I apply and get my business card can I switch the reservation to that card to get the 12x points?

Sorry I had to do it. Does anyone remember this commercial?

This is the link I have for referrals: https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/98u7i0/official_amex_referral_thread/
Is that still accurate?

And then you don't add him as an AU to your Hilton personal (again keeping the card count down on your credit report). OF course AMEX treats you as two completely separate applicants so you both get a card now...you both get a card in a couple months. Yes you got 4 cards, but AMEX sees two different people getting only 2 cards. Better all around :)

Question for @calypso726 or anyone else who has had the Aspire card for a while. When my free weekend night certificate makes it to my account, where will it show up when I am looking at my account page? I've been looking to see if I can find it, and there is no link that seems obvious to go find it. Thanks!
Sorry if this has already been answered... My dh's account had a box pop up at the top of the home page when you log in, but you can also see it in the square where it has you HH points. There's a link for "view your weekend night rewards". But apparently you have to call in to use it, which is really annoying.

Figured I'd mention something of interest on r/churning - I was having a nice PM chat with one of the new mods u/andysol1983. He and I have been "reddit friends" for awhile and I knew he liked Disney but didn't know just how much.

He's the guy that shot this video after Irma:

Neat to have another Disney supporting Mod (u/duffcalifornia is big on Disney too). From what I know, neither of those guys are active here on the DIS so they don't even know we exist. Not that I'd care if they showed up on our thread here...but I don't exactly try to invite people from r/churning to join us, LOL!

Smart thinking! I'm gonna ask DH tomorrow about applying for a personal and a business card.
LOL that commercial was so funny and so bad at the same time!!

Also - yes that is the correct link.
I used to quote him all the time. I kind of forgot about him. I also used to always quote the guy that says "No, no, no. Not today."

I'll make sure to use one of those referral links when we apply.
