New ticket system coming to WDW - Begins October 16th

Is anyone else having the site redirect to the Ireland site? I live in Florida

Been a few times tonight on my desktop using the Chrome browser, no problems. Also mobile on my phone and no problems. I do have to use the website version on my phone as the mobile isn't as friendly since they changed the ticketing.

When boardwalk ticketing took all of their tickets down last night, park savers showed sold out, and UCT temporarily took down all of their e-tickets I bought a 4 day ticket from The Offical Ticket Center. I did get an email confirmation from them, but it said I would get an email that my order has been processed within 24 hrs. It’s been that, and it’s well after business hours, so I doubt I’ll get it tonight. I guess I’ll have to call in the am, hope there won’t be a problem :confused:Has anyone here used them? I’ll get the code to link the pass to MDE and make FPs when I get the processing email, right? I would have just bought UCTs hard ticket, but it expired sooner and wasn’t going to come until after our FP day (and paying for faster shipping would have defeated the purpose of buying third party for the discount). If I’d known for sure they would have the tickets back up I would have just waited for them, but I was getting panicked that I would have to buy under the new pricing and bought from where I saw availability at the time! Do you think they are just backed up with orders, or are they always a bit slow to get the linking confirmation?

ETA - ironically I decided to check my email one last time before going to bed. I had one new message, and I saw it was from the official ticket center! However, when I opened it it’s an email asking me to rate their service and give them 5 stars lol! They shouldn’t send that when they haven’t sent my linking code yet, and they missed the time frame they say to give them! :sad2:

No five stars earned yet! You might check and see if they have a customer service email or phone number. I'm not familiar with them but perhaps there's a delay due to all the changes since it sounds like you need to link those very soon. Good luck!

The proper comparison is to compare a ticket you could have bought yesterday to that same ticket today PLUS the Flexible Date option. That's apples to apples, that's the same product.

Anyway, based on that I saved $185 dollars by buying next year's tickets yesterday.

So that's good I guess? Sigh
In my opinion (and you do not need to agree), I only need to add the Flexible Date option for it to be apples to apples if I'm going to need the flexible date option. We purchase packages and always know the first date we're going to use our tickets so do not need the flexible date option. It was one of those 'extras' you might call it that we never used so for me to do an apples to apples comparison I do not need to add the Flexible Date option.

When we went in 2015 (bought our tickets in Dec '14), we paid $1200 US for 5 day tickets for 2 adults, 2 children for a June trip. Today that would cost us $1766. That's a 47% increase in 4 years.
Yep .. I've been coming more frequently since 2015 (since I had kids). We go every 18 months or so .. and while I sheltered myself from the ticket price increases by getting the old no-expiration option tickets, you can't shelter yourself from the other price increases like food.

Disney has not only raised prices a significant amount in those four years they have slowly removed ALL the options we (the frequent, returning guests) could use to save money on tickets. No more no-expiration option (where tickets didn't have to be used all at once), all MYW tickets now expire in a year or two, increases in Annual Pass prices (about 10% increase JUST this year in two separate price bumps) and now tickets have to be used in a specific date range.

Obviously the increasing crowds say otherwise (and I am part of the problem), but you'd think that this much change/increase in such a short time will alienate your die-hard fans. The ones that spend a lot of money at the parks year over year and want to come back, but feels like we are being punished for our loyalty.

I just feel they need another option (besides Annual Pass) to give loyal, returning guests some sort of discounts on tickets. (Like bring back the old no-expiration option tickets).

There is no reason to do that if crowds stay the same or go up.

Has anyone here used them?

I got a 7 day pass from UCT yesterday after Disney rolled out the price changes.
I got the confirmation and was able to link to MDE in less than 1/2 hour after i made payment.
The price was the same from last week when i checked.

I see what you are saying, but to actually compare the same ticket to the same ticket you have to add the flexible date option to the new tickets. Otherwise you are comparing different products, and technically the second product *should* be cheaper because it had an element taken away from it. If you don't need the 14 days or flexible use days then the change just doesn't affect you, but it's still a different ticket.

I've used UCT in the past and always had a great experience, but I just happened to be ready to buy when they took the e-tickets down for a few hours on the 15th. So I had to buy from The Official Ticket Center. I did call the OTC today, and they looked up my order and said it was processed and I should get my linking code today. i assume they just can't meet the 12 hr time frame due to how many orders they are getting. I would have rather used UCT, they have always been very responsive and friendly, and quick.

Oh, I understand that, doesn't me I can't complain.

Just the same as the wireless companies that give you a great introductory rate .. and then never change your price/package despite other new customers basically getting more service for less price. Verizon won't just give you the new price .. you pretty much have to leave and come back.

So ya .. nothing is going to change until we all start going to Universal a lot more :).

Anyone else notice the calendar only goes out to Dec. 16, 2019?
My guess is that it goes 14 months out. Off to check but guessing today we'll be able to see Dec 17, 2019 tickets but nothing beyond that.

Update: And my guess was....WRONG! It's now October 17th and we can still only see ticket prices through December 16th.

Going to take a HUGE GUESS here.....could SW:GE be opening Dec 17, 2019???????? Could that be what we can't see ticket prices beyond Dec 16th?

I agree with what you said. We always used to use tickets any time we wanted because they never expired. Then they added an expiration but you could buy non expiring tickets, which cost more, but we adapted and started buying NE tickets. Then they eliminated that and we stocked up a little bit on NE tickets, but also bought our first APs. Now APs are $900 a person, and once our twins turn 3 we will have to buy 6 tickets! I don't think we'll go the AP route then, we'll let our current ones run out and decide from there. However, I feel like we are a group that they are shooting themselves in the foot by alienating. We spend a lot of money on extras while we go, even though we did try to be as economical as possible and practical with tickets. We do dessert parties, EMMs, DAH, stay CL frequently, did the CL paid FP program, eat TS restaurants whenever we want, don't carry our own snacks, etc... Not to mention I buy tons of souvenirs :P. So it isn't like we are super frugal and don't give Disney any extra money, so they need to make sure we pay through the nose for tickets. Tickets and rooms are the way to get us here, we take it from there and spend way too much extra! If we don't even get here, we'll spend that elsewhere. We had been at the point of making 3-4 trips a year from PA, then we went down to once a year with the addition of 2 more kids, this year we're going 3x, but after this I think it will be once a year or even every 18 mos or so. Not just because of this ticket change, but everything adds up and my DH also has a point that there are lots of other places to go.

I was thinking the same thing in another thread. Though technically, since tickets are good for a number of days -- you could buy 10-day tickets for the 16th and have them available for that week. Might be a good buy .. $50/day may be a good price compared to what they will be after the 17th. (IF you are interested in going to opening day of SWGE).

So .. it is possible you will see a huge price jump after the 17th .. though based on how little their pricing fluctuates on the current calendar, maybe it won't be a huge jump.

Right .. but that the same time .. with how busy it is .. if ticket prices were any lower, it simply would be a lot more crowded. Disney is just adjusting to us. We keep coming, so obviously they don't need to have any more economical options to tickets. This hopefully is their main goal though. Higher prices, which makes less crowds, which improves guest experience, which hopefully encourages future visits (or spread good word of mouth).

Disney does not want (especially in today's social media world) people on vacation (or coming back) and posting pictures of crowds and complaints how it wasn't worth the money .. etc.

Paying an arm and a leg and dealing with huge crowds and not being able to get the FPs and ADRs you want .. that will send people quickly to the competition.

I’m still not reading a whole lot into that date.

I'm guessing the timing of that last date gives them time to see how the variable pricing impacts revenue this Christmas/NewYear season so they can decide what the market will bear next Christmas.

That said, Episode IX is releasing Dec 20th (19th at 7pm, really) so if they were timing the SWGE opening, that would be a good time to do it too.

And this is part of what they love... we're now not only accepting, but happy to be paying more for something that was free yesterday, because we've "found" a way to not pay the even more extremely insane price raise...we got a deal because we're only paying "part" of the new price increase. We "save" $40/person and think that's a good deal, when in reality we're really paying $40/person more.

I don't mean anything negative towards you at all...this is just how Disney has been working for years now and we (myself included) just keep buying into to the BS.
Oh believe me, I am not at all "accepting" or "happy" to be paying more! It's just finding a way to play the cards dealt to us!
And I agree this is how Disney has been working now.... and exactly why our trips have dwindled down to once a year instead of twice and 5 days instead of 8-10.
