Who here is old as dirt like me and remembers Family Affair!?

I remember it! Although like others I believe it was probably in reruns. I must have always watched it around lunch time because I strongly associate this show with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches lol

I was born in 71, but I watched it. I did not have a doll because my imaginary friend's name was Mrs. Beasley!!! I can seriously remember her eating under the table during dinner.

I have the complete series (1966-1971) on DVD. Anissa Jones' final years were so tragic. Kathy Garver still promotes the show and looks great at age 72. She and Johnnie are the only living cast members left. FA was canceled as part of the rural purge in the early '70s. Even though it was set in NYC, CBS wanted more of an urban audience and Norman Lear type comedies. FA was deemed too wholesome even though the ratings were still good after 5 seasons. Other shows canceled during the rural purge were Beverly Hillbillies, Lassie, Petticoat Junction, Mayberry RFD, Green Acres and so on.

I have been watching it again on Amazon, it was my grandma’s favorite show. I remember watching it with her when I was a child.

I had a Mrs Beasley doll, too. I really loved that doll, but looking back at photos from the day, I’m not sure why. My kids saw the photos and called her the creepy teacher doll and evil Chuckie doll grandma!

I remember Family Affair because my sister loved that show. I like Eddie's Father so we had to share.

"People let me tell ya about my best friend..."

Oh, I forgot about the Courtship of Eddie's Father. I used to watch that one too. I think my all time favorite, though, was Mr. Ed.

"A horse is horse, of course, of course and no one can talk to a horse, of course...."

I was born in '73, & I didn't realize, until this thread, that, when I watched "Family Affair," I was watching reruns. I only have very vague memories of the show, but I distinctly remember having a Mrs. Beasley doll.

I remember watching reruns of it in the early or mid 90s. I loved that show. The cable channel FX had just premiered. They're whole line up was shows from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I was hooked on that channel. I also remember watching Batman, Wonder Woman, Fantasy Island and others.

I wanted a Mrs Beasley doll, but she was long out of production. I looked on eBay a couple years ago. :scared::scared::scared: That doll is so expensive now!

Yes, I remember that show on reruns and the doll.

Was anyone else freaked out by the 66-69 Star Trek closing credits?

i remember an issue of Mad magazine that had a Family Affair parody in it. They spelled out the kids as saying "Uncle Beel - Uncle Beel".

Yes! I used to watch the whole show and then hide behind a big armchair during the credits.

I watched it (first-run) as a kid and liked it, but looking back at it from a distance...it leaves a lot to be desired. Brian Keith was cool though and was in the original The Parent Trap and Sebastian Cabot did v/o work for Disney including Sword & The Stone and the Jungle Book.

I had a relative who insisted her mother MUST marry Uncle Bill. Never mind that Mommy was already married to Daddy. Uncle Bill was better!

A friend of mine had a Mrs. Beasley doll and when I spent the night with her, I'd make her put that doll in the closet. Creepy.
