So I was doing what I do every stinking night. Looking at my plans and messing with them and I came across this Fantasmic dessert show. Seems to be a pretty good deal compared to other dessert parties at $39 per adult and $19 per child so we grabbed it for Dec. 27th. I was looking for something special to do for our 4 yo since it will be her 5th birthday on the 27th and this looks a lot better than just booking a late dinner somewhere. We also booked her favorite place to eat that afternoon (Crystal Palace) so dinner is not important. Also I am really shocked that this is still available on what's supposed to be the busiest week of the year. Anyone ever done this?

I haven’t heard much about it, and to tell you the truth I didn’t even know it existed until I read about it in another dessert party thread. It doesn’t get a lot of exposure I guess. It does seem to be a good deal, and my family likes Fantasmic, so I am following along to see if anyone else has any opinions or experience with it.

I suggest you go on and check reviews. As far as I know it is the "worst" Dessert Party, as it is not a "Party" persé.

For what I've seen online, you are given a box of candy, which you take with you and eat them while seeing the show in your seat in the theater. Spending $39 for a box of desserts seems heftier to me, than spending $69 or $79 but getting an actual experience, with all-you-can-eat desserts and drinks, meet and greets in some and ride opportunities in others. The best value I believe is Epcot's dessert party, followed by JBJB and HEA, then RoL and F! way at the bottom. Just check online, and if it fits your needs, then it'll be great! Just make sure you'll not be dissapointed.

Yep, it is just a box of desserts (which is being generous), and central seating at the show.

I always book the Fantasmic Dining Package - as I always eat at HBD in HS, and I always see Fantasmic - so why not?

We did this last January, mainly because I didn’t want to stand in line for a long period of time in order to get a “preferred” seat. Basically, you are given a tray of prepacked desserts (I remember cheese, crackers and a trail mix included too) and a specialty drink (alcohol for adults). Our drink classes lit up and we also received a lanyard that lit up (not sure if that was because the party was newish at the time). We were two adults and I know the children’s selection of food/drink was different. The seating area is middle center (same as dining reservations). I agree with previous poster that this is not like other dessert parties, this the reduced price. But, if you are definitely going to see the show and want a good view without waiting in the masses....

We are still considering it for our upcoming trip, but yes, as others have said, it’s a box of food (some sweet and some savoury, and the kids box is different—you should be able to search for reviews and find the exact contents) plus a drink (alcoholic or non) in a souvenir cup, and then the reserved seating.

I was thinking at a busy time of year the seating plus some goodies to nibble on before the show were not unreasonable—saves you from holding a FP all day. But then I did note that it’s only a few dollars more to do the dining package at Mama Melrose and get a full meal, so we’re considering that now too.

For your family, if you’ve had a big afternoon meal already and are Park hopping (so possibly can’t book FPs at the second park in advance) and going during a very busy time, it might make sense. There are reviews out there on some of the blogs, so take a look and see if what you get appeals to you guys.

Although it's less expensive than the real dessert parties, IMO it's not a good value.

You pick up a box of desserts & beverage and sit, it's not really that special, especially for a 4 yo.
Also I am really shocked that this is still available on what's supposed to be the busiest week of the year.
As there is no actual party venue to fill up, I don't see how it could sell out.

Thanks for the insight! I found out the details this morning. From what I was told, the seating is the area that they were using for the CL VIP seating, not the FP or dining seating. The food is a tray of pre packaged food and a drink. We’re gonna keep the reservation since it will probably be packed and I’m sure my girls will love it since they have never seen Fantasmic and with all the times we have been to Disney, we have never seen the show either.
I found this picture on google. I’m assuming this is what you get. I may try and grab 2 lol

We have actually changed the adult dessert boxes since then I’m order to make them a better value. They now include babybel cheese, crackers, grapes, cheesecake, chocolate moose, macaroons, a cookie brownie, apple cake and chocolate strawberries.

That's exactly what was in our boxes. My kids ate our babybel cheese and strawberries as their boxes sucked. I ate the cheesecake and my drink. the rest went in the trash. Lesson learned. Next time I will use a FP+ and save my money. The show itself was great!

We did this our last trip and loved it. We walked right in, no waiting in line. It’s packaged very nicely, the souvenir cups are nice- would cost 12-15 just for the drinks in a restaurant. The desserts were better than buffet desserts imo, and the alcoholic drink was delicious. I’ve been told you can get refills as long as their supply lasts. It was at least as much as we’d eat at a dessert party. Buffet or prepackaged, you can only eat so much. It offered enough that we easily skipped dinner and were really full. I think it’s one of the best kept secrets in WDW.

What didn’t they like about heir box if you don’t mind? I thought they were pretty decent.

Can someone describe both flavors of the specialty nonalcoholic and alcoholic drinks? I googled but not much info, other than the alcoholic one is blue (as I can see from the picture above, that is an intense blue!).

It’s a blue margarita and it’s delicious. I don’t recall the non alcoholic, but my grandson liked it. I never tasted it.

If I could remember lol. I didn't take any pictures but there was some reason they didn't like what they got. Maybe they just wanted mommy and daddy's because they were better or bigger? I do know my then 4yo took my strawberries, grapes and cheese. I ate the cheesecake and tried to eat the crumbly cake that fell all apart in my lap. The drink was good and we got to keep our cups so that's a plus.

It’s a margarita made with Jose Cuervo, blue curaçao, and sweet and sour. The punch is made with pineapple juice, cranberry juice and gingerale.
