I love credit cards so much!

I don't remember if anyone is from the Chicago area, but I'm making an impromptu trip to watch the tree lighting parade and wondering if anyone has advice. I could not find much online other than arrive early and if you want to see the fireworks be close to the Michigan street bridge. Thanks!

Ah @Lain you and your weirdly accurate spreadsheet

Not sure I’m much help because we’ve never gone. The tree lighting was actually tonight. On my way home from work at 2pm, there were already reports of people heading downtown and traffic getting messy. The parade is tomorrow night, but I would expect the same. I’ll be watching on tv.

Dress warmly, it will be cold.

Honestly that's why I love PDX. It is so awesome having that credit! I feel out of place in a lounge, especially with my kids. Like all the business folk are looking at us and thinking "you don't belong here". I'm not here to drink a martini and make a business call. I just wanna stroll in and score some snack loot. The cheese plates to go at Capers Market in PDX are life changing.

Making a very last minute trip to PDX next week. Very thankful for miles and Skybonus tickets since the tickets were $750 each. Definitely going to try out the cheese plate to go at Capers Market. We did enjoy the cheese plate at Capers Cafe last time. Any deals at Safeway that I need to do next week?

Reposting it since I'm not good at finding old posts, but I'm not the wonderful poster who shared it yesterday. 888-627-3509

It took about 24 hours for the GC to show up in my email. I called yesterday.

Maybe I called a bit earlier than you did? I do have mine, and yeah I wouldn't worry about getting it.
I did this last year. Sounds like it’s time to do it again :) haha!

Sea World has started their Blue Friday deals. $39.99 for weekday tickets or $49.99 if you want to go on weekend. There are blackout dates (Dec 26-31) and must be used by Jan 31.
Hmmm...wonder if I should spring for front of the line access for our Thanksgiving week visit? It’s only $20 for the 2 of us which seems reasonable to ride Mako, over and over.

ETA: should have looked the dates...it doesn’t start until 11/26 and we’ll be there 11/21 and 22 so that doesn’t work too well :)

Just relishing in being able to book Southwest on points transferred from Chase. Booked 3 round-trip tickets for 39,960 points + $33.60 in 9/11 fee, etc. Paying cash the flights would have cost $635.91. Love that redemption rate!

And when we get to MCO the night before our WDW reservation, we'll be staying at the Hyatt for basically $75, the AF of my Hyatt card. That room for our night in June is $226.

Gives me the warm fuzzies. :)

For those of you who might use K cups in a Keuriq coffee maker, bed bath and beyond has the 48 count of most varieties on sale for 19.99. I was able to stock up yesterday and used 3 of the $5 coupons also, bringing my price to 31 cents a k cup. This is online and in store. I also used a credit card to get rewards. I think I'm going back to pick up a couple more boxes as my variety doesn't expire until May 2019. I also do drip coffee and French press. However when only me is drinking a cup, this is the best deal.

Has it been decided that the Chase Pay 5 $25 transactions get 1500 points is open to everyone? I failed today... decided to stop at Starbucks for breakfast to make myself feel better about having to work (a story in itself) and went to reload quickly with chase pay... apparently I had an AMEX card set as my default method still, probably from an old AMEX offer.

My work makes no sense. We were supposed to work this weekend. Then they decided our warehouse is too full so we would only work today. Thursday night one of the elevators pulling product out from our automated warehouse broke, and they weren't sure they'd be able to keep up with the input... secretly I was hoping they couldn't fix it and they wouldn't make us work today, but alas, it is fixed.

How is seaworld? I went once when I was a kid and haven't gone back b/c that requires leaving the disney bubble, but DS10 has asked to go.

Well, not a good churning morning for me...

  • Attempted to apply for Schwab Plat for my wife...pop-up message, booo!
  • Applied for CIU for my wife...30 day message on automated status line.
The Schwab Plat was kind of expected, but still a blow. I was hoping to cash out 200k MRs. I have been putting a lot of spend on our BCP since we took the upgrade offer but that's essentially working on an MSR. I really wish there was a cash-like use for Hilton points as I could play the upgrade game there too...but Hilton Points to me are best and only used on Hilton stays.

I hope the CIU will come through for us. For now we'll probably keep hitting the 6% on our BCP card by purchasing VGCs from the grocery store to use on non-grocery expenses. Due to the "no URs for Disney" issue, I now am in the market for another $3,700 in Disney Gift Cards. That was the other reason for the Schwab Plat. Oh well...onwards and upwards! I'm only about 4 months from being under 5/24 myself (coming down from a high of 34/24!) so there will be ample card opportunities again come spring!

We just went for a long weekend trip Nov 3rd - 6th. We did Disney Springs on Sat and then hit Sea World on Sun/Mon. They have a handful of great rides (especially if you like big coasters and/or water rides). The kids area is currently closed as they are changing a portion of it into a Sesame Street themed area. If your son wants to ride the big coasters and is NOT 54" that would be frustrating as all 3 have that height requirement.

The shows are all fun: Dolphin show, Sea Lion show, Pet Show, and of course the big Cheese - Shamu! We were able to spend two full days there and did everything. It was very enjoyable and my 5 year old is still talking all about the trip a couple weeks later now. Rides were ALL a walk-on when we went. We rode front car on all the coasters and rarely had to wait more than 2 trains for that seat! Meanwhile my parents headed over to Disney for the last 3 days of that week and crowds were crazy.

We got our tickets through that May Daily Getaway promo. $75 per person for 2-day tickets ($300 total). It was a great trip, definitely not as good as Disney/Universal and we wouldn't go back yearly, but it's on a once every 3-5 yr rotation for us.

Thank you for the quick reply!
Well now I'm not sure, then. My 10 year old is tall enough, but isn't a big coaster guy. My 8 year old is 53+", so will be borderline with shoes. You know how that goes at disney.:sad2:
And with the kid area closed, DD2 might not have much fun. Bummer.
DD19 and DH would love the coasters and the walk-on aspect, since it shouldn't be a busy day.
