I love credit cards so much!

My highest MSR was 32.5k. Two Biz plats(10k each), two Biz Gold (5k each), and Citi AA Biz (2.5k).

That was only five cards between SO and I. This past month I have been working on two Blue Biz (3k each), two Southwest Biz(3k each), one Gold (2k), a Southwest Personal. But I’m hoping SO will get approved for a few more in the upcoming days.
Wow...$32,500 - color me super-impressed :) haha! Of course, the way you meet those MSRs is a little different than some of us with your VGC=>MO ninja skills!

A lot of DISCHURNER links are expired. I tried every link for Hyatt and none were working. I’m going to apply for SO today. He most likely won’t get approved since I messed up his applications but if anyone wants to DM me on Reddit I’m Epicvader.
Unfortunately it looks like CIP and Hyatt could be following the path of CF and CSR :( :(

Probably too early to say that for sure...but all support links for both cards are dead on r/churningreferrals (which as you might imagine is a HUGE sample size...)

Couldn’t do it without it. It takes me 9 months to spend that much lol

I was able to generate a new link for the Hyatt when I went in and put it on Dischurners. But when I tried it out I got the same system error message I got before I generated the new one. I tried to clean up my CFU link, it works, but sends them to new page and I wasn't able to generate a new link for that one at all.

I'm not a big fan of AK and his drama over there but if somebody knows something, r/churning is where we'd probably find out. Hopefully it's just a glitch or they are refreshing those card links and NOT going away. Cross your fingers friends!

I have a feeling these will be gone for a long time. When my friend was trying to generate a link for the freedom she was told it was available and she was looking in the wrong place. She spoke to countless people at Chase some telling her there is no promotion we will email you a link check your app, go in branch etc. she eventually requested a supervisior and gave her courtesy points but the supervisor said the promotion ended.

My goal is simple. I'll be staying in hotels a bit more often, so why not try and get some points and some free stays. I don't have anything specific or special planned beyond that. There is no reason for me saying Marriott vs SPG, other than ignorance of SPG's options. I'm not really in a hurry either, other than I have a couple short one night stays I need to book soon.

BTW. All of my other cards are Chase branded cards. I'm at like 2/24 so I have room to go. I have no Amex cards currently. But, I have been thinking to get the Delta Amex just because the local airport is a Delta hub and Delta is often the only nonstop flight option.

Long rambling pre-coffee post coming up:

Which cards do you have that has you at 2/24?

What cards do you still want from Chase? Or from any other issuer in the short term that'll add to your 5/24 count?

Note that as of about 3 weeks ago, it appears all of Chase's cards now fall under the 5/24 rule.

The Chase Marriott Premier Plus and the Marriott Biz cards are subject to the 5/24 rule. The MPP will add to your 5/24 count, the Marriott Biz will not. Both the MPP and Marriott Biz offers are for 75k Marriott points after $3k MSR, with a $95 and $99 AF, respectively, not waived in the first year. Both cards come with a Free Night award certificate upon every anniversary, and I believe the FN certs on Chase's Marriott cards are posting on time for you to pocket the FN and cancel the card without paying another year's AF. However, if you pick up a Chase Marriott card, you will generally be disqualified from Amex's SPG cards for the next two years.

The Amex SPG Biz will not count against Chase's 5/24 rule, but the SPG Personal and Luxury cards will count against 5/24. All of Amex's SPG cards are offering only a 75k Marriott points after $3k MSR welcome bonus right now, unless you received a targeted mailer for the SPG Lux with a 125k Marriott points offer. As I mentioned above, a 100k Marriott points after $5k MSR offer recently ended on 10/31 for the SPG Biz and Lux. The offers will probably go back up in a few months. Note that unlike Chase, the $95 AFs on the SPG Biz and SPG Personal cards are waived (the SPG Lux's $450 AF is not waived, but you get a $300 Marriott credit with the card). However, reports are that the FN certs are posting about 6-12 weeks after the anniversary, which may not be enough time to pocket the FN cert and then canceling the card in time to avoid the AF. (So whether you go with Chase or Amex, it seems like you'll have to pay an AF to get the FN cert.)

Note that with the Marriott-SPG merger, Marriott made a lot of changes to their Chase and Amex cards over the summer so that a Chase Marriott Biz is essentially the same as the Amex SPG Biz (note the same earning structure), and the MPP is the same as the SPG Personal. Thus, Marriott wants you to choose a lane -- Chase or Amex.

Chase has 2 Marriott cards (the MPP and Marriott Biz). Amex has 3 SPG cards (the SPG Personal, SPG Biz, and SPG Lux). You can get bonuses on each of these cards, but only from one lane until the 24-month restriction passes for the other lane of cards.

At a basic level, I personally think 3 > 2. Go with Amex.

But in your situation, it's a little difficult. The Amex SPG offers aren't at their high right now. You could wait, but for how long? You'd probably be looking at the SPG Biz because that won't add to your Chase 5/24 count. The SPG Personal and Lux will add to your 5/24 count, so you might want to put these off until after you're at or over 5/24. But with you being at just 2/24, how many cards do you still want or need to get, and how soon can you get to or over 5/24 so you can break free and get the SPG Personal and Lux?

(I'll add that Amex has been flagging applicants who have a history of signing up for a card, hitting MSR and getting the bonus, then putting no or only minimal spend on those cards until it's time to cancel, and telling them with a pop up message that they're ineligible for the welcome bonus when they try to apply for more Amex cards. So if you get an Amex card, be sure to put continued spend on it.)

Complicating matters is Amex is expected to discontinue new applications for the SPG Personal in early-2019 and Chase is expected to discontinue new applications for the Marriott Biz in early-2019, as part of a deal struck earlier this year between Marriott-Amex-Chase where Chase gets the mass consumer and premium consumer portfolio of credit cards and Amex gets the super premium consumer and small business portfolio of credit cards. So unless you're in a position to get the SPG Personal or Marriott Biz (depending on the lane you've chosen) by early 2019, without throwing off your strategy, you may miss out on them.

If you choose the Chase Marriott lane, then it makes sense to get both the MPP and Marriott Biz so you can get both bonuses and eventually 2 FNs.

While the Marriott Biz won't add to 5/24, it will add to the credit lines already extended to you by Chase, which Chase uses to decide whether to approve you for more cards or if you already have sufficient (or too much) credit extended. (So keep your overall credit lines with Chase in check, ideally <50% of household income.) As a biz card, it may also affect your chances of approval for Chase's other biz cards (e.g., the Ink cards, SW Biz, United Biz). A lot of people have been approved for and have 3 open Chase biz cards with only their SSN; 4 open Chase biz cards using only SSN is tougher (but spacing out your apps and keeping credit lines low helps); and I've seen some DPs of as much as 5 Chase biz cards using only SSN. So you need to consider if the Marriott Biz is worth more than one of the Ink cards or a SW or United Biz.

As for the Marriott Premier Plus, it's a personal card so it'll take up a 5/24 slot. Are there any other Chase (or other issuers') personal cards you'd rather have? I think a popular sentiment post-Marriott merger is that the Hyatt card probably offers better value than Marriott. If you can fit both in, great! But with the MPP taking up a 5/24 slot, you need to look around to see if that slot can't be better used on another card.

Also United not working...

Random other comment - the SW links are now pointing to the 60k Offer... 40k for $1k spend in 3 months PLUS 20k for $12k spend in 12 months. I know nobody is crazy about that offer, but just figured I'd point out that the links had updated to it.

I just received an email from Amex that said:
What happened:
We didn't issue you the Starwood Starpoints you earned.
What we did about it:
We issued a statement credit to your account.

However I don't see any kind of statement credit on my account. Maybe blasphemy to say, but I would have zero clue if they actually did short me points. I think I did have one transaction in the summer when everyone else was having issue. I only know about that one because it was a specific date I knew to look for. This was for my SPG biz.

Kind of strange! You didn't do any type of inquiry?

So, remember how I never got Starpoints for my federal tax payment from AMEX, even after opening a case with them?

And then maybe you remember how I got a credit for AMEX error on a card, for $26? I think @gottalovepluto got one too around the same time.

Well, DH just got an email this morning from AMEX saying that at some point they didn't give me starpoints due to a technical error, so they issued a credit for the value of the starpoints. I wonder if that $26.71 was to make up for my missing 1400ish tax points. This was all on his SPG biz.

For folks with the personal AMEX Gold, I read some posts on FrequentMiler about how some restaurants are not coding 4X, namely those where the restaurant uses Square or Toast readers to process the payment. Sure enough, I looked at my activity online and there were several transactions that didn't earn 4X.

I chatted with AMEX, and they said they'll look into it and make it right. You might check your account to see if you're affected too.

I got that too! Did you get cheated points when they had that issue back in April? My credit showed up on the first day of my October statement (closed on 10/12, credit posted 10/13). I got cheated for my tax payment and I'm thinking that was it.

How hard is it to figure out Ibotta? I more or less understand Swagbucks, Dosh, and RMN but I installed Shopkicks on my phone ages ago and have yet to use it.

I do the ibotta mostly for the any item as it adds up. If I happen to be buying some of the other offers I use it. got a printer for $10 last weekend so sometimes there are some good offers.

Looks like I might have to spend some money on a Xmas tree.

The top third of my pre lit tree is not working. I only put one tree up these days inside and gave away my other ones last year.

Looking at Lowe's and some that may be acceptable are between 2 and 3 hundred. I'm going to stop by later and take a look. I have the Chase offers and if I buy one will use one of them.

I like this tree because it is slim and fits nicely where I want it. Gahh….don't want to change! Wish I had the patience to undue the light strings and rewrap it!

Do you have an At Home (used to be Garden Ridge) near you? They have 50% off select trees but it ends today. We've bought several fake trees from them and they've all been nice and have held up well.

I have to be honest...please don't ban me from our little group here...I get major anxiety on the very rare occasion that I have to leave my babies. I'd totally cry in the airport if they were there with me. BUT, I wouldn't cause a scene and I'd wait til I walked away with them to shed a tear. So I get why she was so anxious about this and if I read it right, it seems she wanted the lounge access just to enter that terminal to stay with the kids, and going to the lounge was just a cherry on top if it worked out. Maybe I am misunderstanding. All I know is I get the leaving kids anxiety part. I do fine once I am gone, it is just leading up to a trip and the actual goodbyes that I have a hard time with. I can count on one hand how many nights I have been away from my 10 year old in his life...and 2 of those nights were to birth his siblings. I'm not a control freak, I just worry something awful will happen and I won't be there...irrational I know.
No...I TOTALLY get leaving the kids=anxiety part of things....that is 100% me!!! But that is why I CHOSE to not leave them and go off on an airplane by myself....b/c I didn't want to feel that feeling.(We traveled as a family when they were young) The problem with this blogger (IMHO) is she chooses to put herself and her family in these scenarios for money, and then feels 'anxiety' over it. I repeat, she sent her 7 yo alone on a plane at least a year ago and wrote all about how it was great for her independence etc. I feel that yes, she's a mom, but the articles are.....disingenuous (?) I just don't buy it. And as you noted, even if I did set it all up,and then felt sad over choosing this (again!) I wouldn't transmit that anxiety to my unwitting kiddos.

I may have missed it skimming though, but did she have the discover it first? If so, for how long. DD19 is still using one of my cards, so I'd like to transition her to her own.
in our case with ds, it was all opposite....he apped for discover with 8k income, they denied him saying too little. then he apped and got BoA cash and Amex bce on same day. go figure -he likes the BoA cash card, the other is pretty unused.
