I love credit cards so much!

I think I will set my airline for 2018 as AA and then buy 2-$100 GCs. I think I read somewhere that I should set the airline, wait a few days, buy $100 GC, wait a few days, and buy the next $100 GC. Does it credit mid-statement or once the statement closes - because by the time I get this done, it will close January 2019?

I'm waiting to see what happens too. I set my airline yesterday to AA on both Biz Plats and today I bought $100 on each Biz Plat. I'll keep checking over the next few days to see how things turn out, and can report back. DPs on Flyertalk indicate it should be fine so I hope so!

Oh forgot to add that I had decided to wait to apply for the SW CP till after the New Year, due to the DD Debacle in August, but a SERIOUS case of FOMO overtook me on the plane, and when the pop up showed up for the 60k bonus I jumped on it and got instant approval! Now to clean up my CL's for the biz app in Jan/Feb. party:
60k offer? I thought in flight was 50k?

I’ve usually waited 3 months between Chase applications...but last month applied and was approved with 6 weeks in between...totally up to you...I also lower the limits on my other Chase cards before applying...but I’m very cautious

As far as URs..to me it depends on your travel plans..I’ve been collecting URs since I can transfer to SW, book hotels etc with with them....I haven’t been able to figure out how to us MRs yet...but they may work with your plans
Wanted to reply again because I realized my first one was bogus. We do in fact have some travel plans. A lot of Disney this year (flying SW on points with CPs) and a trip to Spain in June. We are planning on using some UR's for our lodging while we are there. I guess what I meant was that we don't have a real roadmap of what we want to do long term. Just like the idea of traveling for free/cheap lol.

Not yet—would love some ideas. And yes on pizza:) we lived in Chicago from ‘97-01 and I preferred gioradono’s to uno’s or gino’s East back then but I’m up for anything.
Giordano’s is also one of my faves. Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder is also a fave with many though I’ve never been there. Portillo's or Gold Coast Dogs for hot dogs. Smoque BBQ also highly recommended, on my to-do list. For fancier dining, anything by Stephanie Izard: Girl & the Goat; Little Goat Tavern; Duck, Duck, Goat; all delicious, though will need reservations for sure. For Mexican, Rick Bayless has street food to fine dining: Xoco, Frontera Grill and Topolobampo. Always great Chinese food in Chinatown. Lettuce Entertain You is a group that owns a bunch of restaurants and I’ve never had a bad meal in any of them. (Leye.com)

I’m 40 pages behind, trying to catch up.

Is the use UR points, get $15 off 60still good at Amazon? It shows up on my account, but when I get to the payment page, it only shows one of my UR cards as having points (which has 0 points) The others are listed but don’t show as points cards. Not sure how to get it to work.

In other news, epic fail on the new Chase offers. Had 10% off Lowes on Amex, but knew it expired. Actually bought something at Lowe’s on Sunday, couldn’t recall having a Lowes offer anywhere, used CFU. Log in to CF account today, there’s my 10% off at Lowes off. Smack head

@elgerber - I'm so sorry for your crummy two weeks. Nothing like bingeing The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to uplift you just a little. Hope things get better!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. We're in a bit of a tv slump, dh can't find anything he wants to watch and I need my tv time before bed. I just told him and he's excited lol

I'd be interested in @calypso726 's thoughts, since she got the Biz Plat again recently (without a bonus !) for the 35% MR rebate.

The new AF news was a kick to the teeth. I will have to keep track of how much value I do get from the 35% back, Amex offers etc. I’ve already used that 35% back benefit again and just got the card. Chase’s piece of “poop emoji” platform has already proved to be useless for trying to get tickets in domestic first class on points. So it isn’t even like that is a reliable option. Sigh ...

Another full day in Vegas. I have not left the MGM Grand compound today. I worked for 10 hours in the room, wandered around the resort to stretch my legs and look for a snack (and found nothing appealing that wasn't straight junk) and took a nap. Just had dinner at Greek Sneek, a hidden place here I found on my wanders. A civilized Mykonos salad, hummus and wine was the highlight of this day. DH is out with coworkers to a show. i'm happily watching TV and being a hermit. A little Vegas is a lot for an introvert like me and I have to pace myself!

Thanks for the comments!

I actually realized that the Hunter boots that I bought on Monday from Hunter .com are sold at Saks...sooooooo $50 back in the pocket (and DH's Christmas present to me done...though I did all the work...and bought three pairs trying to figure out what I want...at least he will wrap them up (hopefully))!

Awesome use of the Saks credit. We didn't wait a day between the 2 GCs, just a couple of days between signing up and purchasing them. It still worked.

I thought it came out tomorrow too, but I am super excited to start watching!!

My Amex Plat came today. Applied Saturday night. I’m enrolled in the Saks credit and airline credit. I think I’m selling the airline giftcards tho. For Saks I’ll try and pick out something for around $50. Most of my clothes I received as gifts and I still have a lot from HS lol. I’m also trying to clean out my closet. Maybe I’ll just get something useful like underwear lol
I struggled for a while to find something I wanted at Saks. I've got a dance family, and I ended up purchasing cake pops for Nutcracker tech week. There are lots of other edible options in the $50 price range.

I paid for (admittedly just because I wanted them) shoes at Payless with cash today :scared: as card processing systems were down. The most painful part was not the loss of points... Reason #47 cc are better: no change. Meaning you don’t have to hand back the $1 bill taped together with scotch tape & ask for another. And then demand another when the cashier goes “uhh, idk...” (Yes, the shoes were worth the hassle ;) )

Does it take awhile to get into The Marvelous Mrs Maisel? I’ve tried the first 2 episodes and never felt the urge to try anymore.

That's further than I got. I've never even tried it, despite being a huge gilmore girls fan so familiar with the Pallandino's, it has never appealed to me.
