Second job for discounts

If you wanted a second job ONLY for the discounts, where would it be?

Mine: Sephora, White House Black Market, Banana Republic.

Where would you work just so you could get a discount? (I'm not looking for a second job. One is plenty. lol)

Theoretically, a local running store.

Reality, I don't know if my one year old or MBA counts as my second job but no way I could actually do another job.

HA! I have a WHBM addiction. As a matter of fact, I have a standing offer from the manager of my local store and she has been pushing me hard to take a part time job.

If only my full time job were not so full time..and in theory I am not supposed to moonlight or have another job that conflicts with the responsibilities of the regular job.

Just this morning I told my husband that I may really do it next year. It sounds fun on the surface, but maybe it would end up being annoying? But I like shopping there and I always end up helping people in the dressing rooms anyway. I also know their inventory better than some of the employees.

Ya, I don't think I'm permitted to have a second job either. Doubt I would even if I could though. Sometimes this one seems like 2 jobs as it is.

It wouldn’t necessarily be in order to get discounts, but if I were to want a second job it would either be as a blackjack dealer at my local casino (always come out ahead) or as an usher for the local baseball team or arena.

I love a lot of the places already posted - BR/WHBM/international hotel chain would all be up my alley. In terms of where I spend the most money probably and could get the most bang for my buck - Target. I would love to sell upmarket watches, but I wouldn't buy enough (I have 2 already, I'm good) to make it worth it nor would I make enough to do that full time. I just all the pretty things. Same with jewelry and handbags.

Definitely a hotel chain. I've considered it.

ETA: My mom has a friend who retired from a major airline, so she continued to have flight benefits. Then she got a job at a major hotel chain, so also had hotel benefits.
That's the way to do it ;-)

My first job after I retired was Lowes. It was only a 5% discount but I spent my whole paycheck in the store.

DH's job after retirement is with an airline - free flights! Sometimes, I fly to Disney just for the day.

An airline or a hotel.

I remember when I was growing up my dad had a 2nd job at the mall and my mom got mad at him for spending all his money on clothes. He got a good employee discount but still.

I once took a second, seasonal job to get discounts at the Warner Bros. Studio Stor, which was like the WB version of the Disney store. It ws only supposed to be seasonal and I was told they don't keep anybody, but theykept putting me on the schedule. I ended up staying there until WB closed the entire division. I got some great deals on really cool DC comics stuff!

Showoff! ;)

Starbucks! Unless things have changed, even the part time employees get stocks in the company and a lot of free bags of coffee to take home. :coffee:

My college daughter works part time in Starbucks and doesn't get those. She can get free drinks and whatever is left before the store closes for the weekend (her store only open on weekdays)

If I did, I would look at somewhere, like Macy's for clothing discounts as well as some hard lines.... Home Good and Marshall... yes please lots of variety.... My friend work PT at a travel agency and get crazy deals, this is the only reason she works there, her DH works for a major airline so airfare is not a problem for them...
