Second job for discounts

I'd pick either Michaels or a YLS (my yarn budget would thank me!) or La Senza again. Or a shoe store except that I buy 95% of mine online.

Walmart. I spent about $100 a week there as it is.

I would never work a second job *just* for a discount. There is not a place where I spend enough money to justify going there X nights a week, putting in work, and having that obligation solely for a discount.

But since this is just for fun, I would love Bath & Body Works. I love the products and being first to see new items and new clearance items would be cool. I think those saying hotels are a good idea - I worked part time for the Hyatt when I was in college years ago and as a part timer back then, we got 6 free nights annually at any Hyatt in the world (based on availability). There was even a special employee line we called to make those reservations. Often our Front Office Manager would email the other hotel's Front Office Manager as a head's up we were coming, and they would upgrade us if they could.

You got it :-)

Another post reminded me that about 25 years ago, I used to work part time security for a Holiday Inn. We could stay at any Holiday inn in the world for $15 a night. That was a nice perk.

But the job I would totally take for the discount - working for a University. Free college for two kids. If only there was a school close enough for me to work there.

but if I were to want a second job it would either be as a blackjack dealer at my local casino (always come out ahead)

dd works for the local casino-and i can't believe the discounts on a variety of things she gets. even their part timers get great deals on stuff connected to the property-movie theater tickets, entertainment (if the sales are slow on an event they offer them up tickets at 50% off), the wealth of independent/chain eateries in the place...

that's a great perk-i have a family member who took a significant drop in pay to take a lower level position at a university for just this reason. when she ran the numbers and realized she/her dh/kids could all qualify for free tuition she jumped at the opportunity. she left with her degree in hand when her kids were about to graduate-parlayed it into a subsequent well paying job that took her well above what she had left originally to go to the university.

I’d do something related to the Jets so I could peek my head in on game days. Just being around all the energy would be enough, really.

a former coworker hired on every summer as seasonal nite/weekend concessions staff for a local sport/entertainment venue just so she could be present for every home game (and she got to at least listen to every concert).
