I love credit cards so much!

:cheer2:1. 2. 3. That's the number of Chase Biz cards I now have with the new SW biz approval.

Now to time the personal card so I can get the CP. How long do I need to wait? I think I saw someone used the DOC link recently and got the 50k offer. I don't need the CP until May but I'm afraid the link will stop working any day now.

meeting it now or later wouldnt matter... u get all of 2019 +2020. 50k offer is available still. U could apply any time as long as your out of shutdown zone.

Yikes. That's really awful. And shouldn't be ok/legal whatever. I'm glad the SPG points finally posted. DH has the Lux but hasn't met MSR quite yet - now I'm worried those points will take forever to get to his account when he does finish it. So sorry you have to deal with this stuff. :(

It was always a different story when you talked to the Amex rep. First Marriott hadn't moved them over. Then I was told Amex hadn't sent them yet. Then there was glitch. The story could change twice in a day in a matter of minutes. I seem to be the outlier in this and hope that he gets the points shortly after meeting spend.

@MrPTato[/USER] I think you are like my husband and Amex and have ended up on their bad list. At least you got your points. They are really so frustrating. I consider it a minor miracle now that I got the SPG Lux upgrade for him at the last minute and that the points actually posted. Now that I think about it I am going to just get on and transfer his Marriott points to Delta now. They seem so random and almost vindictive that I think I better. (Realizing that is paranoid). Keeping your MR points hostage is not good.

I would like to think that my Marriott points are safer than the MR points...I want to keep those in there as we are planning a Japan trip for 2021 for our anniversary. Would really like to cover the flights with MR points and have a good 18 months to stockpile. Not sure who we will fly with or I would move points now.

Tagging @kmc8826 as I messed up the quote.

I used it on 12/5 and confirmed 50k offer was attached the next day

OMG!!!

It only took 95 days to FINALLY get the SPG points into my account after meeting spend on the SPG Lux card. All my points, both sign up bonus and the points earned from regular purchases finally posted today. I haven't used the card since the second statement posted as there was no points going into the account.

Now...my MR points still won't allow transfer. From the Gold card, I get that my account is under audit to make sure i met the qualified spend. From my BBP card, it says that I have been found to be selling (or something like that) or moving my points in a fraudulent way. Um...MR account is new when the Gold was opened in September and I have only used 1 point on Amazon to get the deal. Hard to sell points, Amex, when you won't even let me use them! Grrr...Amex saga continues but glad SPG seems to be fixed... for now.
This is why I’m probably sticking with chase for ongoing spend. At least I know I’ll get the bonus. Amex is too wishy washy.

Quick question, How long do you have to cancel the SWA cards after the AF posts? Forgot all about it and just paid them since I saw a balance due but had planned on canceling both.

I’ve seen 30 days mentioned here....if your at all interested in keeping one or both call for a retention offer....they gave me a $100 statement credit to keep the SW business card...so I was up a $1 lol

Woot, woot! I am now Platinum with Marriott and have my free night cert! Anniversary date was 12/8 so 2 days to get the elite nights and free night cert posted! Now to find some nice Marriotts to visit and see what upgrades, if any, we receive. We were thinking of going to OCMD over Christmas maybe i’ll Book city view and hope to get upgrade to an ocean view.

Just checked my Amex account.

1) I have charges just all over so many accounts right now which I hate, ugh. I like things clean and organized. I'll clean all my accounts up this weekend I think.
2) I got my 20,000 bonus points on my Hilton card for the $2k spend bonus
3) I think I'll refer DH from my no fee Hilton. I'll get another 20k points and he'll get 100k. We're running low and could use a top off. I love those easy $1k min spends!

BTW, the Hershey Spa is amazing! Best part was spending the day with my awesome girlfriends! Worst part was the mom guilt when DS was still not feeling well when I wen to drop him off at school and took him, called DH to come home to spend the day with him, called my neighbor to come over until DH got home (yes, he is 11 and a 7th grader but he is still my baby) and then I missed out n snuggle time when I went off to Hershey. But I have now met my BRG spend since our bill was $2600 and the girlfriends paid me since I received a 10% discount.

Off to bed since 4 am will be here before I know it!

Planning a trip to Los Angeles in July. Anyone here stayed at either the Courtyard or the Residence Inn LIVE in LA? They appear to both be in the same building...both 35k a night for points. Needed it to be near the LA convention center. Flights will be the next component but need to figure out if we will be flying out of PVD, BOS, or MHT. This is so tricky compared to Disney that I can do with my eyes closed.

:complaining ahead from someone with a reluctant P2: We have the $600 bank account bonus offer from a Chase mailer...and DH REFUSES to let me open up new accounts. Grrrrr we could turn that into a Blue Bayou dining package and then some. :badpc:

/complaining
What is his reasoning?
And you don't really need him to open a bank account. Not trying to cause marital issues, I know my mom would never open one without my dad, (generational differences), but just in case you didn't realize, you can be married and have an account in only your name. In this game it is preferred, because then you get the bonus twice if you P2 opens in his name only (not in your case it would seem).

ETA: And then there are those husbands who have bank accounts they don't even know about. :rolleyes1

FYI, Home Depot also gives Veteran's/Military 10% off, but it's ymmv, you just have to ask. DH has Veteran designation on his license, but we've never had to show anything. We were making a rather large purchase several months ago and asked just in case and they were happy to give us a discount, now we just ask every time and have not been turned down.

We had the same issue with dealing with Amex. Always a different story and then finally just be patient and wait. I used his card to refer to mine and while I did get my points fine they never did
give him the referral points; even when I gave them all the information. So frustrating.

I am sure your Marriott points are now fine. I am far from an expert but from everything I have gathered the points to a chain (Marriott, Delta, Hilton) are good once they go to that company. It is the MR points Amex owns and can seem to take back or hold hostage.

This is why I’m probably sticking with chase for ongoing spend. At least I know I’ll get the bonus. Amex is too wishy washy.

When Amex likes you it is super easy. But when they decide they don’t like you it is so so bad. I was at about 12 weeks before finally got DH’s points to post on the Delta Plat Biz, but then on all my cards (including that one and like 6 more) points posted as soon as had charges to meet spend. On some of the cards it was as soon as the qualifying charge went pending! Problem is you don’t know which Amex you are going to get. It is frustrating enough that in thinking about it I am just done trying to have DH get any more Amex cards.

Not making suggestions to cause any marital strife here either. Just sharing what tends to happen in our own marriage and circle of married friends who also travel hack. When reluctant P2s didn't want to open a card or call recon, they are told hey can pay money for their flights ... in coach, while P1 enjoys a lie flat bed, complimentary adult beverages, new jammies and we'll catch up when we touch the ground 8 hours later.

A P2 in our circle that didn't want to open a new checking account for $600 towards a dining package at DLR would likely be told they can pack a sandwich and find a shady spot while we enjoy a nice plate of jambalya followed up with a lovely creme brulee. We'll meet them back outside POTC after we've had our fill of soaking in the atmosphere.

I'll be a DP here for that. DH and I each opened our own separate Chase checking accounts for the bonuses back in 2012. We've kept them since they were convenient and are doing more banking with Chase since going CPC with them to get the CSR over 5/24 back when that was an option.

My dad, before he passed, would not open any cards or bank accounts at all. He always thought we were doing something that would land us in legal trouble. LOL Therefore, my mom opened her own cards, made the MSR and then opened one in my dad's name and made the MSR. She did the same with the banking bonuses.

It's sometimes not so much that you need someone to open the account, it's how you do the finances. With Chase you hold 15k in a savings account for 90 days, if you have equal financial duties (rather than one person doing it all) then the other is going to want to know where that money got to if it just disappears. Also, unless you want to keep DDs going to the checking account, Chase holds 1k+ hostage for 6 months in minimum balances. So it's not a quick hit like Discover and some others.

All that said, @Artygal90 I am curious too about your P2 s logic. This was actually the only thing P2 is ok with :) He's still against CCs but I can open any bank account for cash I want  In fact the Chase 500 offer opened his eyes to this game. I explained it, he thought about it for a day, came back with "Free money, really??"

Me, "Free money"

"How do I sign up?"

He even had to open it in branch because of where we live and he totally did it. When that 300 hit so quickly from the checking, he was on board and started discussing what else we could do.

:rotfl2:This is us. I've actually tried to include DH in where our money is. Told him he'd need to know if I was hit by a bus tomorrow, but he has no interest and only 1/2 listens. I'm such a control freak that I can't understand not knowing.

I feel you! My P2 is completely stubborn and does not want to play. At all. I think maybe he's related to @calypso726 's father and thinks there's something hinky going on. Since he's the one who lives 4 hours away for work and commutes home every weekend after working a full week, you know, I'm just letting it be. Some things just aren't worth the strife.
