I love credit cards so much!

For anyone seeing Mary Poppins or any other movie between now and Christmas, Atom tickets has $7 off one ticket when using Chase Pay according to Doctor of Credit.
Thank you! My girls are going Wednesday. They will be so happy to get free tickets!

You can have people with the same stats denied from Cap1, it's ridiculous! Did you both use the pre-qualify tool to check first?

I was pre-qualified. But forgot to check DH since I was in a rush to get it through the link that still had the 75K offer after it had gone away. Plus I thought he was a shoo-in being 0/24 and all. Ah, naive little me, lol.

Edit: shoo-in, not shoe-in, lol

Massively behind here. With health stuff going on in my family, I'm not really on the ball as far as churning goes - bought/used SW gift cards on DH's new Amex Plat, then realized we hadn't picked an airline, so it did us no good (I then picked an airline and bouth GCs, which should trigger the credit, but I don't have another trip to use them on immediately).

Today I'm at a Courtyard in Boston - cheap room rate and they upgraded me to a junior suite (which is nice - I'm working in the room and enjoying having a little space). Was planning to buy a gift card while I'm here to get me over the $200 so that my Amex offer will trigger (which I put on my Plat instead of my SPG in another churning error). The front desk just told me that they don't sell gift cards at this property, I have to buy online. I guess I will have to try to find another Courtyard to hit up for a gift card.

I don't think that Gaylords have lounges, and they don't offer much in the way of status perks, period. I got an interior balcony room last time, but I've often gotten nothing in the way of upgrades and they don't offer breakfast.

I think @Alexle2007 is platinum (?) with Marriott. She should get the breakfast credit. Looking at the National Harbor Gaylord - atrium room is an upgrade. Prices are pretty cheap over Xmas (a low of $135 plus $22 resort fee). They also have ICE if someone is interested and the new MGM Casino is right there and I think you get bused from the hotel. I've eaten at the Old Hickory Steakhouse at the hotel. Very pricey - for 2 it was over $300 but it was excellent. There are package deals if interested in ICE that include $100 resort credit and they come out cheaper than a room by itself plus tickets. You do have to pay for parking. Very little on street.

The gift card thing at the Marriott Hotels - I'm thinking that if the desk clerk is not familiar, they just say no. I'd check with their manager during business hours to be sure.

I'm not sure if we will be seeing Mary Poppins, but I might use that for Welcome to Marwen. Does it work for all theaters?

Question from a Newbie: I have both Chase CSR and CSP, Can you combine the points for airline purchases? If so, how? TIA
Yes - if you go into your ultimate rewards account (bottom left corner on your chase login) you can easily transfer between cards.

You have a noticeable gap in that card lineup with a CIP ;) Is that on the future radar? lol!

Sure! You can combine points between cards and even between family members. Go to "Redeem Points" and then "Combine Points". You'll probably have to click on the "See All" since it's one of the last options. You'll want to move the points from CSP to CSR to get the 1.5x if you're buying the flights through the portal (sorry if that was obvious).

Doesn't look like it. They have tickets for our AMC, but not for our Century. It says "Ticketing is not available at this location".

We go to Marcus theaters so probably won't work for us

Can our Hilton business card be changed to a card with no annual fee?

Can our Southwest business card?

Trying to play catch up with all of you! Y'all been busy, busy!

I am just amazed seeing how much some of you are able to travel. Looking at you, new friend, @Andysol! Just wow, so impressed! How much vacation do you have in a year? Are you self-employed?

Curious about using an EIN for another CIP. Is this pretty easy to do?

I luckily have a flexible job that allows me to work on the road on occasion. As well as an incredible staff under me that I can delegate stuff to. My wife and I dont ever (or rarely) post on social media regarding our trips either as to not create any resentment with my coworkers.

Re: CIP- it's as easy as pie. Just like when you were likely nervous about having a "business" and then after you got your first CIP, you thought "Really? It was that easy?" Applying for a 2nd w/ EIN is exactly the same. Just more lucrative since you can refer yourself ;)

Approved for the CapOne Venture! Geez, I've never been so iffy on an app! Gonna throw myself a party. party:

It took 11 calendar days and 7 business days.

DH was auto-denied, so I've been thinking what's the difference between our apps. His e-mailed letter said too many recent inquiries.
- He was 1/24 (actually CapOne would only see 0/24 since the CSP was the day before) and 0 TU/2 Eq/5 Ex. I was 3/24 and 1 Tu/5 Eq/5 Ex.
- I'm an existing CapOne customer, he isn't. The CapOne Rewards card (1.5 cashback) was actually my everyday card until September when I started all this.
- I had no inquiries in the last 30 days, but he had 2.

So I'm wondering maybe they have some sort of criteria for recent inquiries within x number of days. Or maybe they're looking at all inquiries on the reports, but if existing customer, go to manual review, if not instant denial. I've had way too much time to mull about this, lol.

Anyways, glad I got the card, but going to think long and hard before I try another CapOne app. The 2x everything will be nice for non-category spend. Thinking after MSR, would I want 1.5x on the CIU with 1.5x travel = 2.25x but have to use the portal, or 2x as an eraser. :scratchin

Congrats. Cap one is a crapshoot. AMEX and Chase make more on transaction fees than interest. Bottom feeders like Cap One make almost all their money off interest. So having a good credit score actually hurts your odds with them. It's best to apply for Cap one when your utilization is at it's highest (maybe after you just hit many MSRs and your score is tanked because of utilization). They also pull from all 3 bureaus, so it's a big gamble.

Can our Southwest business card?

Don’t know about Hilton...but the SW business card can’t be changed to a no fee version...Chase doesn’t offer one. If you like to keep the card you can call and ask about a retention offer...I was offered a $100 statement credit in August to keep mine

@SouthFayetteFan wondering if a grAAvy train primer could be put up in Dischurners? I’ve ignored all the talk and for sure have thrown out some
mailers. Now I’m having FOMO

@Andysol I see you are staying at the Hyatt’s all inclusive. I’ve been eyeing those for future stays. Did you do both your wife and your accounts under same number? Did you get 2 rooms with your family? It’s a bummer they charge the same price for 2 rooms if you have 2 kids with you instead of a discount if paying with points.

Oh boy...here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurner...o_choooall_aboard_the_graavy_train_i_cringe/?

Full disclosure I directly plagiarized AK's guide. I did give the source link though if you want to read it with his formatting. Feel free to discuss/ask questions over here or over there, whatever is more convenient.

Neither of these cards have a no AF downgrade option. You either pay the fee and keep it open or close it. You can attempt for a retention offer on both by calling in, actual results may vary but people often get good retention offers this way (especially if you use the cards some throughout the year).

2019 plans

Well still 2018 but end of Dec visiting sister in NYC and doing one night at Marriott Marquis and Rockette show.

Feb 2019 - 3 nights WDW (Pop/Swan), 2 park days then 7 night RCL Dreamworks Cruise, then 3 nights Uni at RPR

April 2019 - family visit and 3 nights NYC. Aladdin, freedom tower and hy-line on to do list.

August - Cape Cod house with family

Late Aug- trip with friends have done Hershey in the past no clue what to do this year

Oct 2019 - maybe back to Uni (getting APs in February) for HHN or maybe do Margaritaville resort too

Nov 2019 - would like to do adult only trip - Aruba or Hyatt Zilara Cancun

Speaking of Citi I have two personal AA mailers showing in informed delivery today. If they do not show up again I’m yelling at my post office. I’ll probably use one of them but I’ll give the other away on here if it ever shows up.
We get 3 like every two weeks around here. Ugh...do I want more points to play with...we (really I) don't fly AA...DW did like 3 times this year but now can use SW.

Have you seen our recent discussion that Disney hotels at 1cpp are a viable redemption method for AA miles?

EDIT: @speedyfishy beat me to it, lol!

Since there is a sudden interest in AA miles for those that maybe have no real use for them other than Disney Hotels...

I just wanted to point out one other redemption option (albeit a really bad one). Through Points.com you can use your AA miles towards various gift cards (Diney and Target included) at ~ 0.4cpp. I know that will make many people cringe BUT in a worst case scenario it still makes my 40k pts + $250 stmt credit offer an 18%+ return on my $2k MSR. I wasn't getting 18% with my BCP or CF cards on that $2k...so even the worst case scenario is a decent return on my purchases :)

I didn't keep any of my emails but they shorted me too. By a lot :(

ETA: My dh's points still have not posted.

My Marriott points just posted. I didn't keep track of how many 50s I had but I know I earned 500 points twice and only 1 posted. I reached out to them via their online contact form. It felt a little ridiculous to write that message considering how many points I have...but it only took 2 minutes, lol!

Mine haven't posted either...wonder if/when and how much it will be off by.

For sure...I am going to check the recycle wheel tote outside to see if I can recover. I think there is a couple in there right now.
