I love credit cards so much!

Oh, boy, I really hope you end up getting your points. Is this your 1st MR earning card? I think those take longer to post.

FM did a post about the missing 4x on Amex Gold - it has to do with whether the restaurant uses Square or Toast readers to process the payment (your transaction with start with SQ or TST in front of the restaurant name). I started a chat with Amex about this issue and was told it would be fixed (~1 wk ago) but I haven't seen any extra points credited yet.

Thanks! No, I also have the Biz Plat and the Biz Green.

Oh, yep, my restaurant has TST before the name. Hopefully we end up getting the extra points. I've been there twice in the past week!

On a similar note, I also haven't seen the 20% back for restaurants - does that happen all at once?

Been following the discussion from that thread. I know you're really frustrated with Amex right now, but I think Pizzy (despite the fact he can be kind of a jerk) has a point - take everything while you can, and don't let this keep you from Amex as a whole. I recall you mentioned before there's really nothing left you want from Amex, but still. If there's a card you want and the popup doesn't appear, go for it.
I upvoted pizzy’s comment and agree with what he’s saying for some folks.

There’s not a card I want bad enough right now (besides Schwab Plat) that I’d risk no bonus on. I’ll just stick with Chase, Citi, etc lol. I don’t spend $5k for nothing - that’s like 20% of the money I have to devote to MSRs in a year!!

I should also clarify that I’m really not personally frustrated with AMEX right now. I got thousands out of them. I am moreso frustrated for our group and newer folks who are now unable to understand the vague rules AMEX is playing by :) I’m just trying to acquire knowledge of how experienced folks are navigating this new world. Just a fun discussion for a cold December day.

I keep having to call in to verify my Citi applications. Oh well I got approved for a personal card now and I will have to wait 65 days to use my mailer. Can’t wait lol

I also met the spend on my Gold, CSP, and AA Aviator personal.

Still working on SOs Blue Biz, my Plat (have about $200 left), SOs two Southwest cards, (will do in January with GCM), my Arrival, my Citi Biz, my personal Citi AA.

Sad morning:( I woke up to a text that my 99-year old grandma passed away yesterday. My mom was on her way to see her but didn’t make it in time. I feel so badly for my mom.

Sorry to hear this. My 94 year old granny was put into Hospice just before thanksgiving. We went and saw her on Weds, her sister was there, my dad, etc. My cousins saw her Tuesday night. I've never been able to say "goodbye" before. It was the hardest thing ever. She had dementia but I feel like she knew who I was those last few hours we visited. She died that night in her sleep. I fully believe she held on to say good-bye. And I thought I was "at peace" having kinda lost her a few years ago to dementia, but it was harder than I thought in the end.

I made fake email addresses too. But if you have a gmail you can do + and whatever numbers and it will be a new email for AA but go to ur gmail.
This is cool. I am not that computer savvy to have figured that out. That will make it much easier to add some accounts - already have me, DH and DS

I keep having to call in to verify my Citi applications.
Ughh. Citi seems like the worst at this. DH (well maybe me!) had some charges declined when he first got the card. Had to call in and talk to cust service. He still have the pop up on his acct saying he needs to verify something but now the card works so I just ignore it.

They are so incompetent but I’m enjoying it for now. They wanted to verify my address. Like my address is the one I put on the application which also matches my other two applications and the address you sent my two other cards to.

That’s the other side to what I’ve been debating in my mind — hitting Amex so hard and fast while my spend on their cards are unusually high because of the BGR MSR, a SPG spending bonus, GOC and VGC/MCGC deals on my Amex Gold, maxing out the Lowe’s deal last month, Amex Offers for Christmas shopping on my Plats, etc. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little concerned whether my BGR bonus will post when I hit MSR even though I got confirmation the bonus is attached. But I also haven’t gotten the pop up yet, I think because I’ve been putting about 90% of my spend on my Amex cards. As long as I keep that up, I figure I’m still on Amex’s good side. Conversely, I worry what’ll happen if or when my spending slows and I have to start closing some cards.

I confess to usually being a disorganized mess at Christmas, but this year has really thrown me for a loop. I blame it on the Key West trip, which was great, but really made me lose track of time. Yesterday DD mentioned it was 1 week till Christmas Eve, Me- Are you sure??? We were gone all day yesterday to drive DD to Embassy for Visa application Takes 2 and 3. They took everything the third time- had to find a Post office and come back, so hopefully all is well, but says it takes 3-4 weeks to come in. I will be nervous until this process is finished. Then I will be nervous that she is actually leaving. Right now I think I am still in denial. I come home and ask DS if he is done with all his homework - Mom, school is out for break. What??? lol I just had the conversation with DD and I am still in denial that Christmas is a week away. I truly thought he had another week of school.

On topic - Do you think I am safe to try for United yet? My only Chase Apps this year are CIP in June and CIC at end of October. Though I am just realizing that CIC put me at 50% of income. Also still need to change my CSP to a CFU. I could easily lower that credit limit, but may be too late to do that now. And ackkk, just went to find my 50,000 United mailer that I had saved and it is not where I left it. I wonder if DH threw it away. I don't think I want to do the 65,000 for $10,000 spend. I just saw mentioned that 50,000 with $100 statement credit but I am not seeing that from a dummy booking, only 40,000.

2019 Goals - to get more organized!! But no travel planned yet. Would love to visit DD in SA, but not sure that will happen. And I still need to find a place to spend my Marriot 7 nts.

I feel like I should rush through Amex too while they still like me. I was looking at the Google Docs survey results on Reddit and it seems like most people who haven’t gotten the bonus don’t MS so I could just keep MSing and hopefully they love me forever.

I used to never get the flu shot because... I dunno honestly. It doesn't take long, it's free, it doesn't make me feel bad, I just never got it. However...

One year I had major surgery in late October, leaving me weakened for months afterword. I caught the swine flu (remember that?) in January while I was still barely getting around.
Boy, do I ever remember the swine flu.! Pretty much everyone I knew got that awful flu. I only had three kids at the time but one was a newborn. I was desperately trying to protect him from getting it. My dh and all kids got it but thankfully my newbie had some of mama’s immunity so he only got it very mildly! I made everyone stay in their own room and I ran to everyone with my mask on lol! I didn’t get sick.

FWIW, none of us have ever had a flu shot and the swine flu was the only time my kids ever had the flu. I’ve had it twice in my life. Growing up, I would see my mom get the flu shot and then get the flu so I’ve just never felt the need to get it. Of course now that I’ve said all this out loud, I’ll probably get the flu this year :scared:

10 MSRs, huh? You one-upped me! :p Congrats on your Citi AA!:yay:

Oh, the swine flu... my second cousin's daughter was maybe a year or two at that time, caught it, ended up having to be flown up to Omaha, lost oxygen to her brain several times... it was awful. She had to start over developmentally, but it is truly amazing to see the progress she has made. You almost wouldn't know it ever happened anymore.

This makes me sad because my grandma is going to be 93 or 94 this year (I can't remember which). Her birthday is on Christmas and she's the coolest grandma ever. She's so healthy and she volunteers at the theater and the hospital gift shop. She also still goes to the Y and exercises. My grandma inspires me to be healthier because I think that's why she's lived so long by being active and keeping herself busy.

I remember the swine flu, but I was lucky and never got it. I don't think anyone in my family got it actually. I'm one of those people that thinks it helps build your immune system by not getting the flu shot. That might be dumb thinking, but I haven't had the flu in a really long time and never get the shot. My mom just had the flu and she got the shot from her work.
