Anyone catch the current electric pageant time? Online says 10:35 pm but with the sun setting so early that seems pretty late for January.

It was 8:50pm 12/29-1/2.

FYI, 10:35pm is the current time it’s in front of MK. The app “usually” has the correct time for the resort stops (but still confirm when there to be sure) on this page screenshot below. In the app, search Electrcal Water... and it’ll be one of the options.

We may be going to celebrate our anniversary. We will be booking a standard view and want a full balcony with a nice view. We really don't want https://www.disboards.com/attachments/373150/to look at the parking lot. What room requests should we ask for when making our reservation?

We had a standard view booked at the Poly and were very pleasantly surprised when we opened the balcony doors to this view...




The reason it was classed standard was a tree growing up along side the balcony - which prevented it from being a full on water/lagoon/castle view. I had requested Aotearoa 3rd floor as my only request.

Hello poly peeps !!

Booked about 2 weeks prior for dh and I for NYE weekend . Not much available but got Dolphin 12/29-31 and then moved to poly studio for 12/31-1/1.

Poly is great for the holiday !!!

1st the room . Text around 1:30 room ready , Moorea 3rd floor , room over entryway and near elevator and small lobby (one on each floor ).

Here is my view and and lobby of the building .

A few room pix . The bathroom with tub is so big! It was nice having the extra space ! Both bath area had the larger toiletry tubes . Dh loves the body wash

Overall the room was spacious and comfy.

We ate at cap cooks 12/31 at 6pm then moved to the roped off section for poly peeps on the beach for the 6:30 fireworks . I had a Copa wine while I waited . So again this view , wine and a yummy salad topped with shrimp, this girl was happy , even if not CL!


We walked to gf to see the lobby (I posted some pix on gf thread of the pop up bars they had ).

Yay it’s EWP time . Great to watch on the path between gf and poly .

The shower for going home day is hiding under the rock formation at the lava pool .

However at the oasis pool the handicap bathroom has a sink in there so I took a towel in , changed, washed face , fresh makeup and ready to head to the airport .

It was cool and quiet place to refresh .

We went back to the Tambu lounge around 9pm for drinks and appies. I had missed that spot with its closing/refurb last year.

Poly is great for holidays. I was so lucky to be there 7/4 and 12/31. Hmm I don't think I was the only one either......nice to see familiar faces.

Dh doesn't love poly but had to admit location, location ,location mattered this trip.

We basically played at poly and gf and walked, boated, swam and ate and just enjoyed BEING AT DISNEY and not home in the cold that is upstate NY.

Any q's let me know.

Oh I almost forgot! Trip almost ruined! It was HOT out and our 3rd floor room was warm , even set at the lowest temp 68.

Not to worry husband, dw knows where to get help! Disboarder posted that an override was available so I googled it and voila! 65 and cool!

Oh, that's interesting!! What is this override, and is it common to need to do it?

I do it often at hotels. We like it COLD. I googled motion sensor thermostat and looked for one that looked the same. Basically hold one button, press a 2nd then press a 3rd and it's overridden . Then we lowered to 65. When we left dh put it back as we found it.

Most people wouldn't need it but it's nice you can if needed.

FYI, the thermostats in the DVC/villa-side rooms are different than the resort-side rooms. The DVC/villa rooms have the newer thermostats with more 'energy efficient' defaults. The resort-side rooms have older thermostats that allow for a ton of control over temps. I know someday these will get replaced... but boy will I miss them when they do. One thing I've always enjoyed about a Poly resort room is the ability to get that sucker at igloo status in minutes and all night long!

I've had luck with the newer thermostats in BC and GF, but got stuck at YC. No matter how hard I tried it would not override

Yeah, we've burned up (ok, slight exaggeration) at YC on recent trips. We had a room that had the motion sensor on the thermostat in the entry hallway not facing the room. It'd cut off as soon as we were in bed/still for awhile. Get up to use the restroom, it'd click on. Drove me bonkers.

Just checked in today-Poly DVC cash. Received floor & building requested--after reminding of preference at checkin. (Reassigned).

No one in GCH at check in--so awesome! Feels great to be back.

DVC room condition much better than hotel rooms, but still...

CM sent us to MK boats when they were closed--annoying that they don't seem to know the hours of anything.

Small toiletries still. Room is somewhat clean but furnishings are very worn. Carpet & sofa fabric unraveled. Lots of stains & chips on wood furniture. Sitting chairs extremely stained.

Black mold throughout shower & drywall next to shower.

IDK...maybe I'm jaded coming from fresh POFQ, but how could this happen in 3 short years...& how will the rooms hold up until the refresh in 2022? Yikes!

(I think POLY has a major housekeeping cleanliness standards issue)...

Sorry about the worn-looking room/housekeeping issues, but hope you had a nice trip overall. It's strange how everyone's experience with housekeeping is so different. I was just at the Poly the end of Oct (CL) and our room was very clean and not worn looking. Housekeeping was amazing as our room was cleaned/made up every day by mid afternoon and was nice and fresh upon entering. I didn't find the furniture chipped/worn and the bathroom/shower was spotless as was the rest of the room. It would be nice if housekeeping was the same across the board.

Aloha! We are headed for our first family trip, and first stay at my lifetime dream the Poly the end of this month! I am so excited I might actually burst
A few questions though, as we finalize plans and packing. We are staying standard view resort side, and it's 6 of us. 2 adults, 4 kids age 7, 4, and 15m old twins. So we will have a double stroller. Is first floor going to be our best bet? I've heard the elevators are small, so while I'd love a balcony I worry we won't all fit in one trip! Also do the resort side rooms have plenty of toiletries for us or should I plan on packing my own? And are kids allowed to play in the sand on the beaches? I don't think it will be warm enough for us to swim, so they'll need some time to play somewhere. Thanks! I'll probably be back with more questions as I go
