Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

Unlike ADRs, FP are not always released back into the pool as soon as they are released. At least, not with any sort of consistency.

Interesting. Still would be worth the risk because you're not really risking anything (even if you do it at a normal hour)

I wonder how many people are looking for a specific FP some random time like 19 days out

This won't prevent all the shenanigans. It is still easy enough to create a dummy MDE account and reserve the FP with a dummy room reservation and then cancel the FP yourself and pick them up immediately with your real account. Sure there's a chance someone else picks them up before you do but by controlling the time and doing it a very late or very early hour you can mitigate your risk.
O_Bobb! You *are* a shenanigator (and possibly mushu-googliator). I have some experience with that, and it doesn't always work. With FoP, for example - cancelled FP generally go into Disney's magical "catch net" - to be released in a later, pre-ordained, and JETSDAD-watched drop.

Just keeping things lively while we wait anxiously for possible updates.

However, you're right. I don't want this thread locked either. I've always been in favor of all workable strategies - such as those discussed throughout this thread (and others) - being open for discussion. If the thread is open, the strategies are being revealed to those who didn't already know about them. All to the good.
My interpretation of the thread is not to discuss the "strategy" of booking and dumping a ressie for the benefits of FP's. It's to let people know Disney is closing (supposedly) the practice so others can't do it. I was hoping it would be done with by now and Disney following through with the rumor.

The issue for me, as I've never done the fastpass and dash, is the other smaller issues that can come up with split stays or like the issue I had when staying with DVC family and having me removed from the reservation by accident which my inlaws couldn't fix prior to our trip. It would be nice to see first hand experiences of how this plays out for those of us who fall into that grey category that sometimes comes up with legitimate reservations. Not being the one who owns or makes the DVC reservations, I don't get emails about our stays and inlaws are not very good with keeping up with emails or. They never even knew I was off the reservation for a whole week.

I understand why some want the thread closed so it doesn't promote the original practice, but I think the cat's out of the bag now and apparently is routinely discussed on several other Disney sites. (I don't go to other sites so I haven't seen them myself) I haven't seen people recommending or admitting to the fastpass and dash on here like it's been reported going on on other sites.

If rteetz opened the thread back up and removed all the other food/silliness posts, there must be a reason or some value to the thread being open. And I definitely don't think it's to "promote" the strategy. I have confidence that when Disney follows through on the rumor and deletes fp's with room cancellations that this thread will disappear so it doesn't encourage circumventing Disney rules. Just like the multiple MB thread a while ago.

I think you may have malware/adware. I just searched with safe search on an off and all the results were about WDW. Granted Google knows I visit a lot of Disney sites but I'm guessing it would be similar to any other DIS poster.

I just tried searching Google again and you're right...I think the problem was that I must have mis-typed fastpass somehow. I'm not very tech savvy and our satellite internet here is terrible, so I rarely go on the line. Sorry Alynw!

Back to the topic at hand...I'm going to hold off on calling Disney, as my FP's are still showing up. Just like the rest of us, I'm anxiously awaiting confirmation that this rumor is true (although I hope it stays as a rumor).

The google is a mysterious thing. My kids bought this strange air freshener for Christmas and by golly it talks to 'em! Go figure...

I asked it about Disney cancelling FPs but it didn’t seem to know anything about it. Probably just a rumor at this point.

Did u completely cancel ur reservation and get a refund on ur deposit? Cause if u just changed/modified ur reservations, ur fp will still work. U will only lose them upon a refund and full cancellation. The rumor is about full cancellations, nothing else.

:scratchin Could you maybe check your search history...what did you type?? :surfweb: I just don’t want to make the same mistake...:scared1:

Thank you kindly, sir. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, comes from this rumor.

If nothing else, this thread is entertaining.
From what I've read on other threads this change fixed only canceled rooms by offsite guests. It did not address other FP techniques.
