It depends on the reason for the delay/cancellation and weather/act of god doesn't require them to do anything so they will always try to pin it on weather. It's always good to know your carriage of contract, at least the basics, for the airline you are on and what they are legally obligated to do by country as things are different here than the the EU etc.

I usually request something even when they say weather. I do think they try to pin it on that regardless of what the actual issue is. When my flight from EWR was canceled in December, they claimed weather 4 hours in advance of the flight when it was simply raining and supposed to stop before our flight time. When I told them I wanted my money refunded for the flight, she put me on hold briefly and then came back and agreed to it. Maybe I got lucky and just had a nice rep, but they seemed awfully quick to refund my two tickets when I only asked once.

Omg I would die if I never wore shorts. It was like 40 here today and I had shorts on lol. I hate wearing pants because they feel so constrictive
I’m wearing fleece pajama pants, LS shirt and fleece jacket. Inside.
Though I can’t stand heat either. 72-78 is perfect. DH calls me Goldilocks.
As for shorts, I’ve rarely worn them as an adult, don’t like my legs. Plus now I have a 6 inch scar on one knee.

Dh wasn't even told what the delay was for. He said the lady at the counter was so rude to him. When he had talked to Delta previously they said they would get him a hotel accommodation if he missed his flight so he mentioned that to the lady at the counter and asked if he could stay at the hotel in the airport. She flat out told him "no"; no explanation given, just a no. She gave him one choice in hotel and said that's where he has to stay and I don't think Delta is even paying for it. We ALWAYS tweet or contact the airline in some way. I'm not gonna let them keep screwing us when they know they are in the wrong.

Yam also a plant :D
I've never even eaten a yam lol

We keep our house at 66-67 and I wear pajamas, fuzzy socks, and a jacket. My hands usually are freezing, but even keeping our heat that low is expensive.

Oh no that would be hot chocolate and never coffee. :drinking1just pretend it's a mug filled with hot chocolate, yum.
Ummh Hot Chocolate. I do like hot tea as well. Never coffee.
No coffee for me either, and YES to only fresh brewed Iced Tea. That garbage in a pop machine is just nasty nasty nasty!!!
But the favorite is iced tea (unsweetened). I brew a pitcher about every other day. Probably will gather some downvotes (Ha), but I do decaffeinated so that I can drink it all day long. Otherwise I'd be up all night.

It's an unfortunate part of flying. If you fly often enough you get to experience it unfortunately. I've spent a night in the Pittsburgh airport hotel because instead of leaving at 6pm (delayed to 9pm and missing a connection in Atlanta) I ended up leaving at 5am the next day (I didn't want to spend 2 hours driving to get 4 hours of sleep). I've spent a night at a Charlotte hotel when American could only get us halfway home due to a missed connection. I have a few others that I can't recall at this point too. I've experienced lots of 3-4 hour+ delays when I used to travel more frequently for business that cost me functions at the kids schools or family get-togethers on the way home.

The interesting part about the night in Pittsburgh...I should've boarded the flight to Atlanta. Weather related issues caused a ripple affect and our bags made it to Florida and we did not. Had I just taken the flight to Atlanta I'd have made it to my destination (or worst case I spend the night in Atlanta)...

At any rate, I'm sure the more seasoned business travelers have lots of stories. It's one of the risks of being on one of the last flights of the night to your destination. If it's weather related (even if it was caused in another city earlier in the day) there's really nothing they can do and the compensation is very limited.

I know none of this makes you feel better, but it's just part of the air travel gig.
Yeah stuff happens - weather is usually a big culprit. Once I was in Boston and due to fly back to Columbus on a smaller plane. They were all grounded due to the thunderstorms in the area. Got a hotel room, unfortunately it was through work and their preferred hotel was right beside Boston Gardens on a night some event was there. I got no sleep before needing to be back at the airport at 6am for a flight to Atlanta and then to Columbus Oh.

Goodness, everyone was chatty today. Catching up while drinking my hot tea. I think I am a loner on that one. No coffee ever, no pop/soda ever. Hot tea is without sugar, but if I drink Iced tea it needs some sugar. Though, I used to like southern sweet tea, I must cut it in half now.

@striker1064 My DH claims to have never seen a drive through liquor store down there, though he did leave when he was 18 so he said he may just not have noticed. I guess he was a good teenager, unlike me. ha But all 18 years were on the gulf coast of MS and Louisiana.

It doesn't excuse anything but the airport agents probably get yelled at more than the reps on the phone on any given day. I realize it's part of the job but it's also easier to deal with being yelled at over the phone than it is in your face. For one thing there's a mute button so you can say what you want without them hearing or make faces. This is part of why it's always better to call the airline rather than join 200 of your new friends in line at the counter. The other option, especially in this case because there's vouchers involved, go to a different customer service counter. Not all airlines have them post security but there should be somewhere else you can go. If he didn't get the room paid for then he should call back and see about getting reimbursed and explain from before. Also, when calling and things like this are discussed, write the name down and the time of the call. It's not top of the mind when all of this is happening because it's stressful for everyone involved at the airport but it's a good idea.

I have the airline numbers for those I fly in my phone. When I was flying to SF last fall by the time I got to the airport my boarding pass had disappeared from the app even though I'd checked in. Alaska had a long line so I called while waiting in line and got it all sorted out on the phone before I even got to a check in agent to get help.

We have tollways and freeways :confused3 though most people just say highway or just the name/number ie Take the Ike west to 88 and get off at 83 :faint:

Has anyone notice how SoCal ppl say their freeways? Take the Ike west to the 88 and get off at the 83...
ask any socalers... :P

Okay peeps, be kind I’m new to this! Looking to make my money work harder for ME this time around! New to the CC points game.

Me, DH! & our son
Small business owner
Disney VISA is our only card right now, paid off monthly
No card apps in last 24
We typically do not fly, but currently have soma AA points from business travel
Main goal is hotel or Disney ticket $$ if possible
I have Car Rental earning potential like crazy (trying to earn some Hotel or Air points with these company paid rentals if possible)
Hilton Gold, Marriott Silver (maybe? May have lapsed)

Looking for recommendations on best travel reward card. Currently debating on Hilton Ascend (180k point offer via snail mail), or Chase Sapphire Preferred that everyone raves about. Any other thoughts?

We have a few large purchases upcoming that would get us to the min spend for a $3-4K bonus quickly (paying off cruise, & Disney AP renewal)

Welcome! As a small business owner, you might benefit from starting with the business card side of Chase. The CIP will give you a higher sign up bonus than the CSP. 80k vs 50K (or 60 K ?). Both cards earn flexible UR points which can be used for Disney tix and hotels.
