Thanks again to everyone who helped me decide which business card to apply for. I got the Delta Amex Gold with 70K bonus and self-referral.
The referral bonus is in my account already!
Now I'm thinking I want to get the CIP next. How long do I need to wait to apply for that one? Can I self-refer for that one too?
To remind everyone, here's my cards:
03/19 AMEX Delta Gold Business
03/19 AMEX Platinum
02/19 BOA Alaska Airlines Personal
08/18 AMEX Gold
10/17 CHASE Marriott Business
07/17 CHASE Sapphire Preferred

I'm kind of freaking out here. Southwest just canceled my flight to mco for next week! There are no more nonstop flights and little availability on everything else. Do I have any grounds for asking for points compensation since I'm probably going to have to book with another airline? It looks like I'll be paying twice as much as I should now that the date is so close.

Need your help again. Planning on an Alaskan cruise summer of 2020. Just starting to research. So confusing. From reading I know we should do a cruise that goes through Glacier Bay. And lots recommend starting or ending in Vancouver and not Seattle. So trying to figure out my options for airfare. Would be flying from MSP.

Is Alaska Air a good option? I see I could get the business card and get 40,000 points and you get a companion pass on your anniversary date, which you can’t use points for. So could pay cash to Anchorage on one flight and get the other just for taxes and then use the points for the Vancouver portion. Only bad thing is that I can’t use the companion pass for a year so wouldn’t be able to book that flight until only a few months before cruise. So not sure if that would work. I am one to book flight the moment they are released. Any suggestions on this?

Other points I currently have:
UR - 450,000 with 50,000 more from DH’s Ink business card we just got
MR - I have about 95,000 and DH has about 35,000 ( could cash these out for Carnival gift cards 1:1 ratio and use for Princess Cruise)
Delta - about 70,000 points
AA - I have about 130,000 and DH about 50,000. Going to work on getting more
Cap one - have $850 available
Bonvoy- have about 450,000 points but don’t think they would do much.

I am at 5/24 with 2 cards falling off in May and June. So can only get non Chase business cards right now. Will also be getting 2 SW cards end of year to get companion pass again.

DH is at 4/24 with a card falling off in May. Just got him the Ink Business Card and almost have the spend done.

We both have 2 CIP cards already.

Sorry this is so long. Looking at what cards we should get. Is Alaska card a good option and does the Business card report to the credit bureaus or not.

Also any tips on what to look for when booking an Alaska cruise. Would be nice to book cruise using URs with CSR but that option is not available for 2020 right now. Hoping it is temporary. Thanks everyone.

Petty sure the companion pass has to be used round trip. Might be possible to do it from different cities since you can book regular alaska that way but I'm not sure. You should call and ask simply because I would trust it most and I'm pretty sure you have to call to book them anyway. Just tell them you have one and are trying to figure out what to do. They might have info on their site too, I've never used one.

You’d probably be fine to go for it now. Chase won’t know you got the Delta biz and your Plat may not be reporting yet.

You would need a CIP to self-refer so unfortunately that isn’t an option. Please consider using a DISchurners link when you go for it.

I am planning an Alaskan Cruise in 2020 also (Disney). I got the Alaska credit card last month and I already met MSR, the miles and the companion fare code (expires in 1 year) is already in my account! I had a different offer so I can't speak to the current offer now. Mine was 30K & companion ticket with 1K spend. I believe that you will get the companion ticket when you meet MSR. I would double check though.

Edited to add: Thank you @SouthFayetteFan and @Lain for the advice. I'll definitely use a DISchurners link to support the community. You guys have been so helpful!!

I think you are good to go for CIP. But if you don’t already have a CIP then you can’t self refer. Chase is not a catchall referal.

ETA shoot I’m too slow haha. So yes to what @SouthFayetteFan and @Lain said. They always do these long and thoughtful posts and I’m always posting in a hurry.

FTFY.

We don't share support links on the DIS per board rules. We do have threads for support links offsite at DISchurners, where all our members are encouraged to share their links and use other members' links. You're welcome to post your support links there. :)

This happened to me last week. Can you fly out of an alternate airport? American made the switch with no change fee.

@Lain already covered the important part but I've never seen one for an alaska card nor have I ever gotten an email. There's one for it?

Also the PP was talking about the biz card not personal, though the personal has been 40k before.

Unfortunately the SW flights at the next nearest airport are the same situation. I found a Delta flight that will work out of another airport. I'm thankful that I had Delta miles, but it cost me more miles than it would have if I had booked it when I booked the SW flight and I have to go an extra hour to get there.

I think I’m going to go for a CIP #2. I got my 1st 5/2018 and DH (reluctantly) got his 6/2018.
I plan on closing mine once the AF hits, DH’s too. So I want to go for #2 while I can still use the support links. I think I’m going to use his link and try it end of April (maybe sooner), while my 1st is still open. Sound like an ok plan?

For the record:
Me
05/18 CIP
08/18 CSR
08/18 CSP
11/18 SW Plus
01/19 SW biz

DH
06/18 CIP
03/19 CSP

in my opinion, i think your moving too fast with Chase... id apply more chase under DH instead until some of those cards drop off the for the year.

I don't really agree with @Albort. While I know @Albort has looked at a lot of shutdown stories, and I don't want to get you in trouble, I also don't see you moving too fast when I look at your dates. The only thing that sticks out is your Sapphire double dip in late August, which I recall you survived. You then waited 3 months to apply for the SW Plus, and another 2 months to apply for the SW Biz. It's been another 2 months since then, and April makes it 3. If we do a 6 months look back, that takes us back to the end of September, and you've only gotten 2 cards in the past 6 months. You only have 2 Chase biz cards, when people are reporting opening 3, 4, even 5 all under the same SSN. If your overall Chase credit lines look good, I don't think there's much risk as far as your velocity goes in applying for the CIP#2 once April rolls around in a few days. With DH, you may want to put a little more distance from his last app to be safe, but he's probably fine to go in as little as 1-2 months after his CSP given how few cards he's applied for and over such long time periods.

So I’m thinking I’m gonna cancel that Harry Potter backpack. It now says it’s still on back order and the estimated delivery date is May 6.....I ordered it on March 2. That’s a ridiculous amount of time for them to ship out a backpack and it just doesn’t seem worth it to me. So this means I need to find another backpack before our Japan trip.

Looks like a good plan you will be 3 months from your SW business application.....

Thanks all! Unfortunately DH is still a reluctant P2. I was lucky I got him to sign up for what he did.
And @Lain , I applaud your memory/search skills yet again. I did have a successful double dip, after they slashed the credit limit on the CSP, but still got both bonuses!

I think I’ll go for it at the end of April after we get back from our Ireland trip.
