Debt Dumpers - 2019

This is one of those things I run by my sister. She smokes. If she stops smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, she'll save roughly $5 a day. There's 365 days in a year, so she'll save $1825 a year. If her husband also quits, they'll save twice that amount. That's a vacation.

In case anyone else was anxiously awaiting Avengers Endgame tickets, they went on sale this morning. :) By the time I looked at 6:20 AM PST most the tickets were gone for the showtime I wanted, but I still managed to get decent seats. popcorn:: May the odds be ever in your favor.
Got tickets after waiting 4 hours lol

My family of 5 went to see Dumbo this wknd and it was $53 before snacks! Ugh. And Disney has sooo many movies coming out this year that we want to see( Penguins, Aladdin, Lion King, Toy Story, Maleficient 2, Frozen 2, ect...). I definitely need to find a way to save on tix. I will look into Costco. Also sometimes Newegg puts Regal GCs 20% off.

At Regal we get the snack packs (zap pack). Keeps the calories down, and it's about the ideal serving size.

We got our 3 year old a new "phone" since she likes to play games on ours. So we got her the vtech kidibuzz. What I wasn't expecting was for WW3 to break out between both girls.

Anyone with toddlers have a learning electronic thing they really like? I'm debating between another kidibuzz, a leapster leappad, or I just saw a PBS tablet on the Wal-Mart website. The kids love PBS so that might be cool. If they live long enough for it to get here.

Oh boy. I won’t give a kid a phone or tablet until they’re old enough to pay for it with their own money.

Following..we don't currently let our 2.5 year old on any technology (our phones, ipads etc) but would consider a good learning device

I prefer to watch at home most of the time, love the pause feature and one of mine doesn't sit still much in the theater!

Mine are older so can't relate to the current preschool aged toys, have no idea what's out there. I should with my grandbaby is 2.5 but doesn't live near and I end up usually need to help out with buying clothes, daycare assist as she's a single mom, but anyway.

Yes, my youngest two they did have a Leapfrog electronic toy when they were younger. I think the last was the Leap pad. Wow, the Leap products have been around a while! Surprised they still have those out there. I remember the Leapfrog DVD alphabet song my son loved that one. Now he's about to be a teenager, and going through the preteen stuff, lol.

Yes, it costs us way too much to go. My DH can be a culprit when he goes, always has to have a large popcorn and large drink. The kids like stuff too, I usually bring a water bottle in my purse for me and some snacks, although I have horrible luck and have actually been caught twice with snacks brought in, yes a theater we went to actually checked purses....kind of embarrassing being caught with outside food as an adult! :scared: We go to a different one now, as we moved, but, that memory sticks with me, the excuse me ma'am but you can't bring outside food in here, and going back out to my car to put it in, lol. Has that never happened to anyone!? Could be just me, I'm a sucker for weird stuff happening to me all the time.

Wow, we used to always take things and still do at times... never have seen them checking bags! My DH also likes to get a large drink and large popcorn. Recently I noticed that AMC has special deals if you order concessions through the app, like you can get large drink/popcorn/candy for less than the large drink/popcorn combo. I do a combo of Atom GCs from Costco, discounted AMC gift cards for concessions, occasionally bringing in a drink or candy for myself, and I signed us up for the Stubs Premiere rewards program for $15/year. $5 reward for every $50 on movies/concessions (which is good for 9 months after you activate it), and paying through sites like Atom or Fandango count so you earn points and can also use your rewards through them. I found it worth it for us vs the free Stubs rewards where you have to spend $250 to get $5. Sometimes we buy tickets to movies for the family and get paid back too, or sometimes we will take my ILs to a new Disney movie on the $5 Tuesdays too, so it often feels like we are making out like bandits (I know that's how they want us to feel, but in the long run we do make out better overall - and usually I renew during a promo where you get a $5 reward so it's net cost $10). Fandango also runs promos where you can get a free movie ticket, or a $6 reward or something, after buying X number of tickets in a time period. It's usually a pretty generous time period from what I recall. I haven't used Fandango in awhile because I was occasionally getting Fandango GCs at 10-20% off but now can get Atom GCs for 25-30% off all the time on Costco.

I should stay on the lookout for Fandango gift cards. Fandango is how I buy my tickets, also love Fandangonow. Unfortunately I’m not a Costco member :( But we have Chase and Amex credit cards so I should stay looking out for deals on those! I’ll check out the Stubs program, too. We typically see 4 to 5 movies at most per year in theaters.

Definitely sign up for the free stubs! Once you link it once to your fandango account, it will apply automatically. having it linked should also waive convenience fees if you are buying 4+ tickets at a time, if you are paying those currently... premiere will waive them no matter how many or few tickets you are buying, so that could be a pro for premier. I don't recall how much the fees are since I don't pay them anymore :) I used to get quite a few Kroger coupons for 20% off a Fandango gift card but haven't seen that in awhile. I am out of AMC GCs so I'll probably use a Chase/AMEX offer to get one for ~10% off.

We are now officially below $2000 owed in credit card debt. :cool1: My PGE (Gas) bill was also way less than I expected it to be. Last month was the most we had spent all winter ($130) so I had set aside $150 for this month's bill, but our bill ended up being $33. :confused3 Not complaining in the slightest! It let me pay off one other bill early and set aside an additional $50 in savings.

LOL I definitely smuggle in candy and drinks all the time. I'm not ashamed. I actually saw a joke on Facebook a while ago saying that if you see somebody buying popcorn, drinks, and candy from the concession stand, they must be a drug dealer with good cash flow

Are you in CA? It is the California Climate credit. I got a notice via email from my electric company that I would see that on my April bill. It happens in October also. My electric bill had been projected to be $103 and is now projecting $70.

I am in CA. I saw that at the top of the PGE page, but since I wasn't able to open the PDF of my bill I couldn't be sure that's what it was. Either way, i'm not complaining!

She likes to watch Daniel Tiger and Super Why on our phones (we have the PBS app) and play the Disney Jr games. The "phone" she has is for learning games. And the "tablet" I'm looking to get is also for learning games. They aren't actual phones or tablets.
