Official 2019 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend

I think we ended up waiting 15 minutes for the Wampa photo, but I regretting missing that in 2016, so it's all good. I'm not quite sure how long the pause was, because my Apple Watch actually ran out of battery at mile 11, and I lost all detail.

I lost a lot of detail, but it look like my watch did save my mile splits up until mile 11. I don't have a map, unfortunately, but it looks like the wampa stop was somewhere right after mile 6 on the watch. My mile 7 was was 25 minutes and 46 seconds, so that 15 minute estimate probably wasn't too far off!

Mark Daniel and DJ Elliot do a real good job in the pre-race area. The guy who is DJing once you get to the corrals not so much.

DJ Elliot is great! I saw him a few weeks ago at C2E2 in Chicago, and he's going to be at Star Wars Celebration next weekend (unfortunately, I won't be).

Finished my first half marathon. 2017 SWDS 5K and 2018 SWDS 10K built up to this (we can all thank rD SWDS series for getting me into running in the first place - and run/walk method for making it accessible :)).
I'm pretty sure that the Rebel Challenge eventually led me to try my hand at the marathon.

There was a time when idea of completing a half marathon seemed impossible. But I DID IT - its still surreal. :)
Congratulations on finishing! I still remember how convinced I was that I would never complete my first half marathon, even on race day itself when I concluded that I would either finish the thing or fail spectacularly.

I usually volunteer for rD in January and am always amazed by the people who finish Dopey in the morning and are in the parks in the afternoon like nothing happened.
Sometimes I would simply smile and nod at another Dopey finisher as we very slowly hobbled our way around the parks.

Did my first post half run today. Ouch!! It was hot and humid as well (1pm run in Florida) which didnt help.

I notice that since the run one of my toes has been hurting and it feels like a marble is under the ball of the same foot. I'm wondering if that shoe may be too short (other foot is fine). Anyone else deal with this? I'm planning on finding a local running shoe store, just dreading dropping a lot of $$$ ( I've already purchased 4 pairs of running shoes prior to the race. Starting to feel like Goldilocks).

If anyone is in the Jax/St Augustine area and can recommend a store I would appreciate it.

I had something similar, it was sesamoiditis. You can look it up and see if that’s what you’re feeling. For me it was from wearing the wrong shoes. Not too short but it flexed in the wrong place. Hope it’s better soon!

1st Place Sports in Jax is pretty much the only running store in the area now. Both my husband and I have been fitted there and had good experiences. Are you new to the area or just passing through?

What's the email address to send requests to in order to search for photos?

My wife has none of her finish line photos posted, and the ones we took with our medals after the race have not posted either. I would think those would have been pretty simple as our bibs were clearly visible. I'm going to wait a couple more days to see if they show up, but after that I want to have the Photopass people look for them.

Double check to make sure you are entering the code correctly. I had the same issue because I didn't properly read the instructions. The leading "x"s before your bib number should be replaced with "0"s. So, if you have a 3 digit bib number it will be HLF0 0111. I'm not saying this is the case for you, but thought I would throw it out there.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable race weekend! I'm happy to report that I'm still a Perfect Sith and loved the races, as always. :darth:

All I can say about the weather is welcome to Florida! I don't mean to sound glib - this just really is the reality down here. Weather can turn on a dime, humid is baseline normal, and the sun is intense in spring. I enjoyed every second of it, because what's coming for the next 6 months will be so very much worse, lol! I thought the fog at the start of the half was a nice touch by Mother Nature - very space-y :)

I had no issues with the courses at all, but full disclosure: I was there for the Star Wars theme. They could have us run a 1 mile loop over and over and if it was full of SW characters, music, and video clips, I'd be perfectly happy!

I didn't feel the lack of spectators at all, but did notice the folks cheering from way down the embankment at McDonald's. But there were also people cheering on the side of Osceola a little further down, so IDK how well the new "rule" was being enforced. Saw plenty of spectators on the BW, and CMs had incoming DHS day guests cheering as we passed the entrance plaza.

Reminder: registration for the 2020 Star Wars race weekend is coming up July 16 (early registration for AP/DVC July 11)!

We have gotten all the other pictures from both races, so bib numbers have been entered properly. Only ones missing are her at the finish line and the couple we took with our medals just after the finish. I'll give it a few more days to see what pops up.

Thank you!

I'll check out 1st Place Sports. Is there a preferred location (Jacksonville Beach vs Baymeadows Road)?

I moved to St Johns County a few months ago. I tried getting some running shoes from the outlet mall, but they didn't work out. Guess it's time to get a proper fitting.

Heyo! Thank you, I think this is it! Man what a bummer. Did you have to stop running for a bit? I'm trying to avoid that.

I wish I would have just gone to a proper running store to begin with. I'm now waist high in bad running shoes

Oh it was a million years ago so I don't remember, but there is very little that makes me stop running so I doubt it. I am in no way a physician so don't listen to me, maybe ask your doctor!
