I cannot believe I am asking this, but does anyone know, if I renew my DVC APs, using a Barclays Arrival Plus, does it code as travel? I am trying to find last years renewal to see how it looks on whatever card I used, but that's going to take some time LOL.
Thinking if I could that would be way more beneficial than discounted gift cards.

When we renewed our DVC APs earlier this year using an Amex, they posted as "Entertainment - Theme Parks." My guess is Barclays won't categorize them as travel either.

I get that the facilities are limited time and expensive, but at least write a thank you note!! We tend to receive thank you notes about a third of the time.
The lack of thank you notes is a biggie to me. I'd say we only receive them about half the time. Really bugs me. We are also finding we don't receive them from graduates and those we gave to for showers and weddings.

I raised my kids to either pick up the phone and call the person or hand write a thank you note. My just turned 8yo made a thank you call on the way to the airport this morning. It's just what you should do!

Ok, I'm embarrassed to say I don't know what pop culture reference this is. I even googled the meme words and got nothing.

Glad I am not the only one lol!

You mean you haven't watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel yet?! Where were you when we were gushing about this show a year or two ago? It's the latest from Amy Sherman-Palladino. It's only won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy TV Series two years running, and its star Rachel Brosnahan has won two Best Actress Golden Globes for her role in the show. It's on Amazon Prime if you want to binge it.

Anyway, this scene was hilarious! Moishe, the father of Joel Maisel, the titular Mrs. Maisel's estranged husband, asks his son if he remembered his bar mitzvah. Then we see a flashback to a huge bar mitzvah where it looks like all of NYC's Jewish community was in attendance. Well, Moishe threw a party he couldn't really afford to give the impression of success, and then paid for the party with the monetary gifts from his guests.

Oh, ok! I watched a couple episodes of the 1st season and stopped; DH kept watching it. I do want to go back to watching it! Right now I'm getting caught up on GoT because Sunday is coming!!!

We just got a thank you from my cousin from his wedding. We got it less than two weeks after the wedding. I’m big on thank you notes too. I write them for my neighbors when they watch our cats lol

Yeah, that is kinda what I was finding with a search. But it seem UCT does work, and I realized I cannot renew an AP for my son, since his drivers license no longer has this address :-(. So I could at least charge the renewals to earn points and buy his at UCT and wipe that one. No one really needs an AP, but the renewal rate, at least now, is only $18 more than a 4 day hopper! How nuts is that???

I do remember the chatter and I watched an episode or two but just didn't get into it. Sorry, I know you all love it but I just didn't.

Does this get me shunned?? Maybe?? If so, @amalone1013 and @tink1970, save me some diet DP and oreos!!!

This isn't CC related, but is money related. My DS just brought home a birthday party invitation that is requesting money and not gifts... for a 6 year old! We are pretty new to the birthday party scene, but that just seems unbelievably bold to me!

Okay, I hate buying presents so although it was tacky in the presentation, it would save me time and agony trying to buy a present for a child I don't know. I think I'd get 7 $1 bills and write "here's a gift for each year of your life and one to grow on." Cheap, easy, done to the letter of the request and pow! done.

UCT definitely codes as travel for Arrival+. Just bought 4 tickets on two cards to use the travel credit and both purchases worked.

I"ve never seen it (no interest) so please come visit me in the DoubleShunned corner (diet dr p is on ice and oreos are Double Stuff)!

Can I just say :banana::banana::goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:banana::banana::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:party:party:

I was able to call and have my certificate extended to April 30, 2020 and had the LOVELY agent also book the extra night. She also connected the 2 reservations so we won't have to switch rooms! So, value of $2,884.00 for one Aspire certificate. I've said before, but it warrants saying again, this card is a KEEPER.

No, it's totally ok. When you guys were chatting about Gilmore Girls a few weeks back, I just remembered that I absolutely couldn't get into it. My wife basically loves anything from Amy Sherman-Palladino, so Gilmore Girls, Bunheads, and obviously The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I love my wife, but I couldn't bring myself to love Gilmore Girls or Bunheads. :confused3

Happy to be of service. :woohoo:

And can I say I'm absolutely floored by how much value you and @calypso726 have gotten out of the Aspire? I have some aspirational Hilton properties in mind, but no firm plans to make a vacation out of it, and I keep telling myself that I'd better jump on it soon because Amex is going to nerf this card sooner or later, because the value you can get out of it is INSANE.

The ironic thing about this particular party is that it IS a house party and is 4.5 hours long :scared1: so there would be plenty of time to open and then play with the gifts.

Ok, you found bizarre world there :sad2:

That I find ok. I actually like it when a cash fund is available on a bridal registry for some future dream. It feels like investing in a good cause to me.

Exactly! I'd like to think at some random trip in the future, sitting on the balcony with their feet up at the DVC resort, @speedyfishy and Mr. speedyfishy think "Wow, we have such awesome friends and family who helped us get here!" Like I mentally thank my SIL when I use my FoodSaver
