Dude - our thread is legit full of entrepreneurs!! We should change the name to "I love small businesses" or something!! That's really awesome - and hopefully can spark some of our newer folks and lurkers to think in their own life about how they may already have a small business activity.

As a business banker with a passion for small business...this just warms my heart......who am I kidding, it warms my heart to think of how many travel points everybody is earning as a result of this

Do you mind sharing details on this? I’m always at the grocery store could I just pick an order that’s at the same store I’m going to and make sure the drop off is close to my home?

YAY approved! now do I call or SM to have my card overnighted? Don't really want to have to answer questions or get my approval taken away since I have two CIPs active now.

I do have two businesses (more like hobbies since I can't find hosts right now). one is with food and the other is scrapbooking, card making, stamping, paper crafts

I am a consultant working 30 hours / week for the same company. I elected not to be on payroll as I enjoy the freedom of working independently from home; don't need benefits as dh has through his company. I use this for my business applications. I am set up as a legit business in Florida and I have a separate bank account for all transactions.

How about a fun Tuesday exercise for the greatest group on the DIS...

We often advocate for biz cards and I have my token list of “businesses” that I share - you know the list, selling on eBay, rental real estate, teaching piano, tutoring, babysitting, consulting, etc.

I know we all already have our go-to “businesses” established now, but what if our awesome group of DISchurners do this:

• Share what your preferred business is currently for credit card apps (and/or what you’ve used often in the past)
• Think of one other legitimate way(s) you earned some amount of money in the last year that could be considered a “business”

This could be somewhat interesting for people who are on the fence about biz cards I’m interested to see what creative legitimate sources of money our group has!

EDIT: repeats are ok. Original answers are awesome but don’t feel like you need a “new” answer to participate! Repeats could actually be cool to see how many of us have the same potential “business” opportunities.

My wife is a legitimate independent contractor (and I've recently started paying some of her estimated taxes for credit card SUB's.)

My side biz is recording and selling videos of stage performances - a lot of dance, some theater, mostly high-school or college age. I try to sell Blu-rays and digital downloads, but most families still want DVD's. All of my sales are actually fundraisers for charity, with proceeds going directly to a 401(c) 3, but I report the revenue as my business income.

Good grief, I go home last night and collapse from exhaustion (seriously though, I fell asleep on the couch around 5:30pm, moved upstairs around 6:30pm, and changed into pjs and fell back asleep when DH came to bed at 10:00pm) and you guys add 6 pages???

Speaking of planning vacations far out... remember my speculative Labor Day bookings from just before they announced SWGE opening dates? Well Sunday night I got a text from my cousin's wife letting me know that they are going to have their daughter's first birthday party that Saturday. I'm just over here like, um, I have been planning a trip that weekend since the first week of March...

I list eBay that DH runs under my name and his. Business is actually booming. All of the proceeds go into DS’s savings account and it has more than doubled in 2 months. Yesterday DH sold a 2 in My Little Pony that he had purchased from TJ Maxx for $2.99 for $50.

If not eBay, I am going with event planner. My PTA bingos that I put together has always sold out and made a huge profit for the school and my Harry Potter staff appreciation week was a huge hit with the teachers. They kept commenting it was the best week ever and how jealous their teacher friends were. I think I may have missed my calling!

Oh I love this...event planner ! So in addition to my sales business(which has been a bit slow b/c I hate doing and thus list something about once a year) I am a travel consultant(paid in lovely gifts from friends so far) and credit card (financial) advisor to friends and family- event planner was something I had no thoughts on except that I'm always planning some event or other.....

My business is a home rental.

I have been racking my brain for several minutes for another business venture. No one ever gives me money for anything. I don't paint, bake, sew, sing......

Wait just a minute. I must be boring.

oh hold on..... I made a custom baby sling carrier for a friend a couple of weeks ago,and she gave me some cash along with a thank you note(I didn't ask for anything) so that means custom baby sling business!(i've given many of them away over the years)

Cross-posting from the gift card thread. I placed a ShopDisney order for $400 in digital gift cards with a $1.99 clearance plush on 5/12. Just got the RMN e-mail that it tracked and I have $40.20 pending and I should see it by 6/28.

Mentioning it here because of the RMN GC discussion yesterday and because I used CIP #2 and am now done with the MSR. ~107,000 URS should be mine next month.

Also, if anybody else wants to help be a part of keeping up with things there, another volunteer or 2 would be great! If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll walk through what we're doing there. @Lain and I have a good rhythm and seem to keep on the same page pretty well there!

I guess I could do my next business card for facepainting. I've never charged but if I calculated $10-15 a face for all the kids events I do for free I'd be making quite a bit. Maybe I should start charging something at least to cover all my supplies.
