FOOD at WDW for 5 days for a family of four, 2 adults and two kids (6 and 4):

Paying for food with Disney gift cards since AA wont let me get a dining plan. I have acquired $800 as of now. Think I will need more? What do you guys spend?

Side businesses I could maybe consider as legit:

I sell kids stuff on local swap boards and also consign kids clothes twice a year.

At one time DH and I were doing photography as well and did get a few paying gigs. Haven’t actually done paid work in a couple years but we still have the equipment and everything.

I’ve been wanting to do nutrition consulting as a side business (it’s also my regular FT job) for a while now. Looking at different niches like women’s health or maybe sports nutrition since I’m already board certified in it. Just haven’t actually done anything with that yet because procrastination is my middle name.

Have you tried calling them? I know when chase travel had them they had to call Disney for me to add the dining plan as we had annual passes. Then I was able to use UR to pay for the dining plan which really saved since I used the CSR so I really spent less. Boy do I miss the days of using UR for disney

It really depends on how many meals and where you are eating. I budget $100 per day per person as I know we won't spend that much but I'd rather have extra gc than not enough when we aren't doing the dining plan. qs we spend $75 easily for the 2 adults and 3 kids (but we do tend to get 4-5 adult meals)

After a 10 day agonizing wait on my Jet blue Business card application (applied on May 2), I'm finally approved! I love using true blue points to get to Orlando from Newark! I will be cancelling the personal card in a few weeks.

My application went pending so I finally called recon this morning and answered a few basic questions about my "business". Easy Peasy 60,000 True blue points after $1,000 spend and one use on my husband's "employee" card.

We just got back from a Saturday to Saturday stay and we spent about $1200 on food. That was for 2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 3). For table service we had: Snow White dinner, Teppan Edo, Bon Voyage Breakfast, Ale & Compass lounge, Jungle Skipper Canteen, Spice Road Table. We did a few quick service lunches/dinners, a refillable popcorn bucket, and a few dole whips. We ordered groceries from Amazon Prime Now and had most breakfasts in the room, and a couple of lunches in the room as well.

ETA: I forgot we also had dinner at 50's Prime Time.

Jealous! Love flying Jetblue from RIC. I applied for that card last year but was denied without a credit pull for not spending enough on my Barclays Aviator Biz. They weren't wrong, I did the one charge and threw it in the sock drawer lol.

Lounge at MCO question....since we'll be arriving at like 10 pm and staying at the airport hyatt before hitting ME in the morning.... I need a lounge refresher for MCO....we'll be flying SWA,is there a lounge near there worth stopping into? I've used my lounge privileges exactly once....
If the temporary wall isn't up, you'd be able to get to the lounge pretty easily. You'd take the tram from the SWA gates to the terminal and then walk over to the tram going to gates 70-90 I believe. I'm just not sure what time the lounge is open until or if they allow you in upon arrival. We stayed at the airport Hyatt last week after a 9pm arrival and loved it - so convenient!

How about a fun Tuesday exercise for the greatest group on the DIS...

We often advocate for biz cards and I have my token list of “businesses” that I share - you know the list, selling on eBay, rental real estate, teaching piano, tutoring, babysitting, consulting, etc.

I know we all already have our go-to “businesses” established now, but what if our awesome group of DISchurners do this:
  • Share what your preferred business is currently for credit card apps (and/or what you’ve used often in the past)
  • Think of one other legitimate way(s) you earned some amount of money in the last year that could be considered a “business”
This could be somewhat interesting for people who are on the fence about biz cards :) I’m interested to see what creative legitimate sources of money our group has!

EDIT: repeats are ok. Original answers are awesome but don’t feel like you need a “new” answer to participate! Repeats could actually be cool to see how many of us have the same potential “business” opportunities.
1. My preferred business is my nannying. I do it every summer and make a decent pay from it (almost as much as subbing). Dh’s preferred business is our band. Both of these will no longer exist after we move but I’m sure we’ll come up with something new. I’ve talked to Dh about maybe tutoring so that could be one. I also could teach drum lessons so lots of choices.
2. I had a moving sale that made money so that could maybe be a “business” lol. We sell stuff on eBay so I could use that, too. Other than that we don’t have much else.

My wife is a legitimate independent contractor (and I've recently started paying some of her estimated taxes for credit card SUB's.)

My side biz is recording and selling videos of stage performances - a lot of dance, some theater, mostly high-school or college age. I try to sell Blu-rays and digital downloads, but most families still want DVD's. All of my sales are actually fundraisers for charity, with proceeds going directly to a 401(c) 3, but I report the revenue as my business income.

Revenues are key. About half our selling is on consignment... just so happens I take 0% commission on said consignments (family discount) so no profits there but just enough revenue they keep giving me biz cards. (Which I'm still surprised about but not gonna argue :rolleyes1) Even terrible business models, in my case, or generously philanthropic ones spend money and generate swipe fees. Folks should keep that in mind when thinking about if their side hustle is "big enough" to qualify - you don't have to actually profit from it to count (and many real businesses don't either).

LOL... Well to be honest I closed my Arrival plus a few months ago and have not used my Barclay Aviator or Jetblue Personal past the MSR. I guess I just lucked out and got a good rep. She picked up on the first ring and was in a good mood.

Congrats.....I have also been approved for this card this morning after a 10 day wait....didn't call though, just let it sit and received the approval email this morning. Thats a nice boost to our JetBlue balance as P2 also got this card recently. Can't wait for JetBlue to start their Europe flights in the next couple years.

Oh, don't forget to go in and activate Q3 for Discover. They sent the email out today officially confirming the additions of PayPal on Q3 and Target (instore and online) and Walmart.com for Q4

For PayPal sending money to Friends and Family counts towards the offer. I imagine that could be interesting to someone within the cashback match period, if you wouldn't max it out otherwise.
"PayPal qualifying purchases are those made through the PayPal wallet online, when you send money to Friends and Family via PayPal using your Discover Card, and point-of-sale transactions using PayPal Here. Payments made through the Xoom transfer service are not eligible for 5%. Any restaurant purchase made using PayPal will only be awarded a total of 5% Cashback Bonus. "

Here's what counts for the Q4 merchants:
"Amazon.com purchases include those made through the Amazon.com checkout, including digital downloads, Amazon.com gift cards, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon Local Deals and Amazon Prime subscriptions and items sold by third party merchants through Amazon.com's marketplace. Target purchases include any purchase made online at Target.com, through the Target app, or in-store at Target. Individual merchants and stand-alone stores within physical Target locations or on Target.com may not be eligible in this category. Walmart.com purchases include those made at Walmart.com and when shopping through the Walmart app (including Grocery Pick Up and Instore Pick Up). Purchases made in store at Walmart Stores, Walmart Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and Walmart Pay are excluded from this promotion."

.does anyone know how to contact ebates or whatever their new name is? I had a purchase that I did in store last week and I got an email saying you earned cashback $9.49 yet my account shows $2.69. Thanks

If you go under your account on the app/website you should see "Missing Cash Back." It sounds like your shopping trip tracked, but incorrectly. Select that date/store and submit an inquiry. Sometimes they just process it automatically, but sometimes they ask for you to submit details or the order e-mail. I've never done it with an in-store purchase, but I imagine a receipt would suffice.

I love my spreadsheets and try to average what I will spend based on ADR/QS plans. I budget for mugs, $50 per person for snacks, and either look up the average price per plate at a restaurant or if I know we have been there before I will calculate exact menu items we will order. I got used to this from multiple attempts at seeing if a dining plan would save me money compared to TiW and it never wins for my travel group. Things can obviously change, but I have to say I am usually within $100 if we do not completely cut out a meal. If I have extra GC $$ it just goes to merchandise, activities, or the next room deposit. :)
