Yeah. It’s ridiculous! Hello, it’s almost June!!! My dh keeps sending me screenshots of the weather forecast for various FL cities lol. That’s not helping!

We almost had snow yesterday, it was upper 30s with a windchill below 30 and 4 inches of rain over the weekend. So gross!!

No complaints here on the East Coast. It’s upper 80s/low 90s, just beautiful weather! I’d be happy with this weather all year long!

chatting AGAIN with Amex on my Delta, this one just told me only $4300 of my $6400 has counted grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I have asked for this number for weeks, and never got it. Even been told more than once my spend has been met. Nothing I spent wasn't legit or manufactured or not allowable.
I seriously do not understand AMEX at all anymore. They are just ridiculous now with their crazy RAT and denying bonuses and their poorly trained CSRs who lie to you and then hide behind the T&Cs... I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all of this right now.

Hi all... I don't know if you'll remember, but I posted here briefly back in October. I had every intention of participating but shortly after... my little Havanese puppy got sick and I was caring for her round the clock for 6 months before we lost her in February. She was my little shadow for 13 years and I miss her a great deal.

Spring is always a lovely time for new beginnings and with the nicer weather I'm beginning to think again about next year's travels. (This year's are already planned - Sept. in Hawaii and December at WDW:)) . @Albort You have my attention with the MLife>>Hyatt status thing. I'm a HUGE fan of the Grand Hyatt on Kauai, so you've peaked my curiosity, however, I am not a member of your Dis Churner's group (or reddit at all for that matter.. that place scares me! lol) Still... I've read back enough to know that I should ask for an invite and maybe finally learn the ins and outs of reddit. It seems I need to ask your great benevolent Dictator @SouthFayetteFan ? :worship: . I also read about @Haley R ! :rockband: Wow... so much cool stuff coming up for you!!! (Does that sound totally stalkerish cuz when I read it back, it does. Oh well. lol Do what you will with me, Budget Board rockstars.)

I have always been an Amex girl. Amex bought my Beach Club Villas contract (Charles Schwab, how I love thee), sent my husband and I and all four of our kids to Hawaii and to WDW two times each, introduced me to the fabulous Waldorf Astoria Orlando , pays for a monthly dinner "in" with my husband, and pays for lots of lovely little things whenever I stay at a Hilton (which is pretty often). I've focused solely on MRs since 2016 BUT... I suddenly find myself in possession of the much coveted CIP about 14 months sooner than I imagined ever possible. (thank you thank you DOC, you are my hero!) . So now... I need you people to teach me how to do Chase. And maybe, just maybe...

how to do life, without my puppy again.

So sorry :grouphug:about your pup...they really are one of the family

I am sooooo frustrated. I spent that $6k weeks ago. At least 4 times in the last few weeks I have asked to confirm it was met. THe first time he told me only $1200 had been met. Then he said it would just take time to have them all processed and counted. Then 3 more times I asked if it was met and for a dollar amount if not. Twice on the chat and once on the phone. They all 3 said they can see I spent $6000, and they would open a case to get my miles. But clearly they never actually dug into it. They said it would just take time to credit. I told them if I wait too long for them it will too late to spend more. They assured me it was fine
Until this chat tonight where apparently it’s not fine. And they say they have no way to tell me what didn’t count. But he said it might just take time to process again. And I said yeah then I will be out of time. And the most frustrating part, we put $2k on a car down payment last week on DH card to try to get him out of pop up land. I could have put that on this card had they told me the last few times I asked.
I don’t have a lot of faith if I even spend more now that it will get me the miles.

I don't know what the answer is here, but the Amex chat reps are often terrible. I've chatted with them about MSR before and they're all over the place. I think you could chat with multiple people in a row back to back and they'd give you a different number every time. I have also been told I met MSR and later told I was $800 away. My points posted ultimately, and I knew I was right, but it was still very frustrating.

I don't know if this will help, but I do the gathering of the stuff on one day and then do the actual packing on another day. It feels less daunting if I break it up a bit.
That's exactly what I just did lol. I went through and packed anything that won't be used between now and Sunday which actually was quite a bit. Almost all that's left is clothes (my least favorite to pack), shoes, and bath stuff.

My points have always posted a couple days after making a spend but I have been waiting weeks with no points and I hate to just keep waiting. My deadline to meet the MSR is in 3 weeks.

I've been seeing 90s in the forecast for Orlando and Melbourne which honestly is too hot for May, but I think I'd rather have that than 30s. It should be decent temps in Japan with some humidity and chances of rain most days. I'm just going prepared with rain gear knowing it's possible every day.

We've been having tons of rain here, too. A lot of places are still flooded and almost every day in our forecast is showing thunderstorms. That's super abnormal for us. I don't normally see storms every day in the forecast. I don't mind storms, but I need sunshine sometime. We go all winter with no sun and now we're going all of May with the same thing.

Good thing we'll be on the east coast soon! :sunny:

I know I’d rather have 90s than 30s but I hate cold weather. I grew up close to the Gulf coast in Texas. Heat and humidity don’t really faze me. We’ve been getting a lot of rain too, which is normal for us in May, but it cold and rainy so not liking that!

Sorry me again. I will be done complaining shortly. So I looked at the generic list of things that don’t count toward MSR. it also appears those exact same items do not earn miles at all? yet I have gotten the base miles for over $6400 in purchases. Wouldn’t I not get those points if $1400 hadn’t counted?

We are down in CO Springs and it’s snowing so hard we can’t even see out the windows. 5-8 inches tonight :(
Oh no! Though it makes me feel better that we got nice weather in Co Springs. I was thinking we had gone too early since there were some things that were limited hours or not open yet for the season. I would not have liked snow.

I don't want to jinx my string of good vacation weather luck so I'll mention a few of our bad weather events. We did get rained on twice in Co Springs last week. It was crazy as the sun was shining but we were getting rained on! And last year in Moab, we got rain and hail right at the end of our ATV ride. We ended up soaked to the skin and freezing. It does make a good story now! We also had a complete rain out day in South Dakota. We put on our rain coats and hike anyway. It was sort of a high
light.

I am of differing opinion on weather than most on the board. I don't want snow in May but we are supposed to be close to 90 this week in Ohio. I hate that it goes straight to summer. I like spring. I would love it to be in the 70s for much, much longer than it is. I really don't like 4 months of 80s/90s and humidity. I could never move to Florida. I would end up staying inside all day, every day to avoid the heat and humidity :P. Now if I could afford So Cal, I would move there. San Diego has the most perfect weather for me. Plus the ocean, mountains, desert all close by.

Knew I'd forget something! I'm not 100% confident on pursuing a business card, but just realized P2's hobby-related sales could qualify. Hmm.....even more options to confuse me!
Also, how difficult is it to redeem UR? All of my experience so far has been cash-back through either gift card or purchase erasure, so it's been extremely flexible.

You've gotten great responses. I would def do a spreadsheet to keep track. I use dates for applied, approved, card received, bonus received just to help keep me organized.

I would have your DH do the CIP and then if you feel comfortable have your DH refer you, he would get 20k UR. you could get the CSP or CSR and then refer your DH if you do the CSP. I transfer all my points on the CSR since I use it to redeem for travel at 1.5x. UR really are easy to use. You can call their travel to book or you can do it online.

Go at your own pace as everyone here has different goals and paces of applying for cards. If you check out the dischurners to show support the CIP and CSP are on there. The CSR doesn't have the option right now.

My brother was just came to visit who lives in Clermont and was saying he runs his A/C basically year-round except for maybe a month or two in the “winter.”

This is my method as well. I stage everything in the spare bedroom beforehand and then pack in the packing cubes and suitcase a day or so before we leave. I like breaking it up and it gives me a chance to see if I need to get anything at the store before we travel.

That’s what my MIL says about Phoenix. June-Aug they hibernate. She asked us not visit during those months since they stay indoors and don’t want to do anything. Luckily, my SIL likes our summer visits and we just enjoy lots of pool time.
