Halloween Time Superthread 2019: "Oogie Boogie Bash" Party to Be Held in DCA ONLY! and Other Halloween Time Information

Last year I went to Horror Nights at Universal a couple of weeks before the Halloween party. It was fun and all, but I literally screamed all night long lol. My throat hurt the next day. So when I went to the Halloween party, I appreciated the "cute spooky".
This is us, too! If I'm tired the day after a Halloween Party, it had better be because I had so much fun the night before, not because I was so stressed from being freaked out. We love the Disney spooky vibe!

I don't think they've said officially which rides will or will not be open. When the party was over in DL, most, but not all of the attractions were open during the party. My guess is that will also be true for the party in DCA. I think the "big" rides will all be open (e.g., Carsland, TSMM, GotG, Incredicoaster, Soarin', etc.), but some of the smaller ones might not be. I also don't think things like Frozen: Live at the Hyperion will be presented.

And here I am making a trip down specifically for Horror Nights and Knott's Scary Farm! (And of course if I'm there I'm going to add Disney, but Horror Nights was my main draw :P)

Thank you! DH just green lit our anniversary trip, so I am debating if we want to do the Halloween party.

The special World of Color show and the parade probably are enough for me to make it worth doing the Halloween party, the rest is bonus and is fun. It's also worth noting that if you don't have kids, it's kinda fun to see kids streaming in dressed up and stuff :)

Now if it means missing stuff over at Disney or missing Star Wars... oof, that'll be a hard call, but if you've got a couple days, taking time out for the party probably is worth it!

My kids will be at home with grandma and grandpa!!!! :rotfl2: If I can convince DH to drive partway down the night before our "first" day of travel, I think I can swing it. As soon as I can agree on dates with my parents, I am going to book my trip!

I’m starting to get ridiculously excited about this event. Seeing you all talk about the fun/Disney version of spooky I can’t wait to experience it.

I just purchased this dress for my little one who is obsessed with dragons and also loves a villain. I am of course worried it’ll be too hot for it so I’ll need a back up plan. We’re surprising her so the good news is she won’t know one way or another. Now I’ve got to figure something out for me! DH has already said nothing for him...party pooper!

When are you going? Maybe you can get a short sleeve black dress, Maleficent ears (I think the site sells them), and then lime green socks? Although that doesn't sound as cool as this outfit lol.

You could be on to something here. A black dress, with the head piece and maybe a green cape? I could even put some flames on the dress with vinyl... Thank you!

Also, for those getting costumes together, if you see something on the Disney site you want to purchase for your costume, or even upcoming merchandise. I highly recommend buying it SOONER rather than later. Last year many of the Halloween merchandise was bought up by resellers.

We are getting excited too!! its 9 of us but we are unsure on who is dressing up. more than likely all but one. We also don't know if we should go as a group costume or each family.

If you're going sometime in October, especially late October and are staying somewhere near Disney (or on site) then you might be in luck with the temps. If you're just showing up for the Halloween party or can change right before it usually it's nice enough out to not be too hot and once the sun starts setting it's perfectly fine out (I'm speaking from late October experience). For your husband, you might want to check the official Disney site and look for a jack skellington blazer, it's a really understated "costume" (basically just a blazer jacket) but also at the same time is totally clear what you're "going as", so it works well for the people that don't like dressing up (me) but still want to be a good sport. If you can find/make some pin stripe pants you can really nail the look yet be totally not out of place at the same time.

Oh how I wish he would entertain a Jack Skellington look! What a great jacket. I might have him talked into a shirt with a pirate ship on it that says "I wanted to be a pirate but I couldn't get my ship together!" He told me no hidden mickeys though.

We'll be there in late September, so very real chance of high temps, but we are staying on property and plan to show up just before the party gets started. Maybe, fingers crossed it will be one of those cooler evenings, but I won't expect it. Maybe we'll just start the party if full Dragon Queen outfit and change if it gets to be too much.

If so I’m not finding it. I was hoping to read thoughts on Oogie Boogie MHP at DCA. Plus I wanted to ask the experts when they think tickets will be selling out. Earlier or later with it at DCA? It’s so pricey for a family of 4 but my kids have loved the two times we’ve been so I’m debating tickets again.

I love the idea of that pirate shirt! FWIW my DH is not all into dressing up or even matching shirts. He very begrudgingly wore a Jack T-shirt to match me and the kids in our NBC outfits for last year’s MHP. The shirt is obviously super low key and easy.

I have called three times in the last week and I've gotten different people each time on the phone just to be sure it wasn't one persons opinion of how it was going to work, and they all said the same thing; Disneyland will be open normal hours during the Halloween party but if you don't have the ticket to the Halloween Party you can't go in to California Adventure.
So if you have a park hopper and the Halloween ticket or a Disneyland only ticket and the Halloween party ticket, then you could still go from park to park during the party. Please let me know if anyone knows any difference. Thank You
I apologize if I have used any incorrect names for lands or parties, no offense was intended.
