I don't! I come up with a five letter and a seven letter word, but no six letter. ??? LOL
Oh, yeah. Seven letters for me!

At one point I had my ex's email nickname as "Chubby Wubby No More Hubby." Somehow I accidentally sent my aunt an email and copied him and she saw the nickname (this was years ago--the details are fuzzy). She thought it was hysterical.

I changed my last name right after getting married and never really thought too much about it. I liked my maiden name, but my married last name flows a little nicer. However, it has a period and a space in it, and is a complete pain in the rear sometimes! Most of the time when I'm completing something online I'll get an error saying "invalid last name" or something. And people have no idea how to pronounce it half the time!

Ends in er I'm guessing as it was the first I thought of. Got the 7 but am stumped on the 5. :scratchin
Yeah, I came to the same conclusion (I think) on the 6-letter word but also am stumped on the 5-letter word.
So I think I came up with a six letter word that starts with f. It took me awhile because this word has become so pervasive in our vernacular I really don't think of it as being male associated.

Funny thing happened to me while I was darning my socks this morning....I "pricked" my finger.

What's it say about me that I can come up with 4 letter, 5 letter, 6 letter, 7 letter, and 8 letter words pretty easily? 😆

You all crack me up!! And that's totally my bad, it's the 7 letter one. Mistype!

Very interesting having both a period and a space. Makes my 15 character German & Norwegian name with unusual spelling for each a veritable walk in the park!

Did you see this?

Good point about upgrading now to take advantage of the 1/1 to 6/30 Dell credit. That's another ~$100 value that helps to offset the big Biz Plat fee.

Now I've got a bit of a dilemma that I'm going to noodle through. I checked the link on DoC and got the upgrade offer on my BGR and Biz Green. I'm seriously considering the offer, but which card should I upgrade? The spend isn't an issue.

I got the Biz Green in late July 2018 and the BGR in early November 2018. Both have their AFs waived for the first year, so there's no prorated AF to be refunded on either card.

I was planning to keep my BGR another year because I actually use the 3x gas category and value the 20k support links. But, I've already used two of the BGR's 20k support clicks this year, which leaves only one 15k support click left. If I upgrade the BGR, will that reset the 55k support click limit on the card, allowing me a fresh set of 3x 15k clicks and 1x 10k click? Not sure. I couldn't find a clear answer searching reddit.

I was planning to cancel my Biz Green (it really is a sh*t card) after it hits a year next month; or I could upgrade it. If I upgrade my BGR to the Biz Plat, then I could upgrade the Biz Green to Biz Gold (BGR is no longer available) after next month to keep Amex happy and probably get some 20k support links out of it (At only 5k per click, I haven't used any of the Biz Green's 55k support click limit so that's not an issue). But with the BGR, I'm AF free until probably December. If I upgrade the BGR to the Biz Plat, I'll be on the hook for the Biz Plat's $595 AF; and if I upgrade the Biz Green to the Biz Gold, that's another $295 AF.

Yeah... leaning towards upgrading the Biz Green to the Biz Plat and keeping my BGR AF free for another half a year.

I also got the Biz Plat in late July 2018, so that's coming up for renewal.

I accepted a retention offer to keep my personal Plat for another year. (Interestingly, my personal Plat is a converted MB Plat, so even though it's now a vanilla Plat it still doesn't generate any support clicks.) If I upgrade the Biz Green to the Biz Plat, that's three Platinum cards in my wallet. Upgrading the Biz Green to a Biz Plat means I'll be canceling my existing Biz Plat after it hits a year next month. Normally, I'd call Amex to fish for a retention offer before making a decision whether to keep or close an AF card, but I don't need three Platinums. And frankly, I don't think I'd get one a retention offer. Spend on my Biz Plat has been mediocre (but apparently enough to keep Amex happy). I'm also a bit embarrassed at the thought of calling Amex for a retention offer and having the rep read off all my Amex cards, including the Plat and an upgrade Biz Plat, and ask why I'd even want or need to keep another Biz Plat. So I'll treat the upgrade offer like a retention offer; points are points.

TL;DR: I think I'm going to upgrade my Biz Green to the Biz Plat, but I don't want to make a decision while I'm sleep deprived.

A question about upgraded cards: is there an expectation (by AmEx) that you will keep them open for a year, counting from the date of the upgrade?

I also have this offer on my Gold and Green cards and am debating whether it makes sense to upgrade . . . but I'm not sure I understand the AF part. If I upgrade my Green card today, which I opened in August 2018, do I pay a prorated AF (for the 2 months) and then another AF is due in August? This is what would make sense to me since the account number stays the same, but I guess AmEx could look at upgrading as restarting the clock and charge the whole AF today.

We considered hyphenating our kids names with my maiden/married name, but then it would be samename-samename, or lastname (squared) :rotfl2:

My mom also kept my dad's last name when they divorced a looooooooooong time ago - my kids are going to think it's strange that people in the same family have different last names :rotfl:

That's right! I think I've actually read that link before. AskSebby may be a shill, but he has some good original material.

As for DH's pop up, I'm still thinking the easiest way might be to throw $1k or maybe even $2k in VGC/MCGC on the Amex Hilton to see if it won't get rid of the pop up. If you get the Metabank-issued MCGCs from a supermarket, they're still liquidating with only a 1% fee via Plastiq; or you can ask @vanjust14, @MrPTato, and @Natgridenergy about liquidating via MS in the greater NE area. If you want to go wild on the Hilton Biz, you can earn a Free Weekend Night cert by spending $15k on it in a calendar year. That should make Amex happy again.
I’m in metro Boston and have good luck at stop and shop with MOs. @vanjust14 and @MrPTato have run into some snags I think they do serve

As I'm struggling to figure out what to do with the Amex cards with AFs that are coming up, I just learned that apparently Massachusetts residents can get a prorated annual fee back at any point?

This could definitely change what I'm thinking, I'm still just not sure what is the best way to handle the Amex pop-up!
Yes I’m keeping this in my back pocket. Amex still likes me but I have a few cards that I might cancel soon so I want to make the best of my potential final run.
DH has an SPG biz - spending dropped on this I put 2.2K on it - bill is due 7/6
DH has BBP - was carrying a balance of about $6k I paid it down to 2.8K
Lastly he has green biz - never saw more that 1-2 purchases (small) a month now put $20 on it.
I’m still getting the pop up as of yesterday. I don’t know if I should pay everything down again and then try? Keep spending/paying and try again? I’m at a loss.....

Applied for CIP2 yesterday and received the "need more time message." Showed up in account this morning. SM'd the expedition.
We are just finishing up P2's CIP2 MSR.
DS and I are heading to SF tonight for the Giants-Brewers weekend series.
Have a great time! GO BREWERS!!

I get errors sometimes because DH’s last name and now mine is too short since it is only 2 letters. I remember when DS was learning to write his name and his pre-k said we are just going to focus on writing their first names and I said if he can handle writing 9 letters, he can add on the additional 2 and write his last name also. Of course, now at school he usually writes his “nickname” that is only 4 letters but we never, never, never call him that and I wish his teachers wouldn’t either but we get less say in the middle name :(

Recon advice please:

Denied for CIP. Reasons given are: Length of time since revolving accounts have been established; too many accounts with balances; time since the most recent account opened is too short; too many inquiries in the last 12 months.

Last account was opened 8/12/18 CFU. CIC opened 6/2018. Amex Bonvoy Biz 3/2018. CF was opened 1/10/18.
I have a CIC that had a balance less than $800 when I submitted the app and 3 non-biz Chase cards with balances and one Amex with a balance. No balances are overdue and no balances are close to the credit limit.
Not sure how they get too many inquiries in last 12 months. Credit Karma shows two inquiry in the last 12 months: The CIP June 2019 and Aug 2018.

My credit line on the CIC is 12K+.

I plan on calling to see if I can do anything to get the approval. Any advice based on the info above?

Thanks!

If I am flying United out of O’Hare, will the Centurion Lounge be convenient to get to? I am thinking I can take my co-workers in with me and get some additional value out of that Platinum card.
