This is what the quoted Reddit post had from u/aksurvivorfan:

"Amex prorates AF paid on pre-Biz-Plat card and then charges full Biz Plat fee. You have to keep card for a year after upgrade. ie DON'T CANCEL at original year anniversary of original card application as I've seen comments of it going badly (not this exact offer, but similar). DoC had a post about it."
So really it would be 14 months of AF for the 50,000 MRs? But I could get the airline credits twice, maybe?

So it looks like this DP is saying if you upgrade two months early, then yeah you get charged 14 months at the $595 AF, 2 prorated months under the new $595 AF and the full $595 on the statement following the original anniversary date.
I would add during that time, you’d also get 3 or 4 $100 Dell credits.

Our DD has only my surname. Not sharing a last name with any kid(s) we'd have was actually my DW's biggest worry. But she also didn't want to give our kid(s) hyphenated last names. My last name is very basic and not at all hard to pronounce or terrible sounding, so she was ok with DD taking it. Turns out DD is my little mini-Me anyway, so it worked out. My DW just didn't want to give up her identity and accomplishments by taking my last name. My DW has a MFA that she worked really hard and paid a lot of money for, and had kind of developed a career and reputation by the time I got around to proposing. She didn't want the complications of changing any of that, and I didn't want her to. Besides, I've always known her as First Name Maiden Name, and fell in love with her as such; the thought of her changing her last name to mine just felt so weird.
That’s awesome. 30 years ago when we got married, it was fairly unusual for a woman not to change her name. I did change it, but on my driver’s license May middle name is my maiden name. Plus my first Discover Card is in my maiden name to this day (DH is AU). When I got a second degree after getting married, I made them put maiden and married names on my diploma, so both diplomas have my maiden name. The old biddy in the records office didn’t want to but I showed her my DL had both, so she finally caved.

Check your Plastiq accounts to see if you were targeted for a 1.5% fee promo (all card issuers) until June 30.

I didn’t receive the email and just did a test payment on a stored Amex card and it’s showing 1.5% fee. It does appear targeted as I tried the same on P2’s account and it showed 2.5% as usual.

This is exactly my reasoning. I have accomplished so much with my last name and it’s who I have been. I don’t want to change it. Our last names are short so hyphenating won’t be super crazy. But I’m not 100% sure that’s what we will do.

ETA your reasoning for wanting her to keep it is adorable and I’m telling SO to say this anytime his family or something rolls their eyes lol.
I have a friend who says “I’m Dr Jones at work, but Mrs Smith and raising little Smith’s. She never changed her name but I think on her kids school stuff she just used Smith for everyone to avoid confusion. I don’t think it’s a big deal either way these days. Lots of people have last names that don’t match. DHs Dad passed when DH was 5, but his mom remarried a couple years later. Their names never matched 🤷‍♀️

I received it to. Going to move the mortgage payment back to my account on DH’s new AA Biz and cancel the payment I have scheduled on his. I was thinking maybe I would pay the property taxes early since it would be nice to save the extra 1% since the bill is quite large and we could be almost finished with the CIP MSR...
That’s actually a great idea. I need to go check my Plastiq. Do you start a payment to see if the fee is 1.5%?

Did you get the email? If so can you post the terms?

I didn’t receive the email but did test payments using an Amex and then MC that were already in my Plastiq wallet. Both showed 1.5%. Tried adding my new Citi AA MC and a test payment is 2.5%.
That would be a buzz kill if it only works on previously stored cards. Test on both of our accounts for current cards show 1.5%.
Wondering what the limit is!

AccchhhhKKK! The keeping your name part is wonderful. But then when you get to the kids, it can be a pain. Daughter kept her name.

Daughter's 2 kids have hyphenated names. I add them to our Disney and some airline reservations. Not enough room for the names on many applications. And on airline reservations you end up with a hodgepodge name. I'm not sure what the compromise is here.

I had friends who both husband and wife hyphenated. I guess nice of husband, I hadn’t seen that before. But I swear I thought it was child abuse for kids. lol. They both had longish last names AND gave the kids long first names. Honestly don’t know what they were thinking. It would be like Henrietta Guadalupe-Washington. Except the first names were a little weird and hard to pronounce. Can you imaging having to write that on all your papers in kindergarten? And then what happens if a hyphenated kid marries a hyphenated kid?? 4 last names? In my opinion (I know, nobody cares about my opinion, lol) but you can hyphenate your name, but don’t saddle the kid with that.

Here’s the full terms from the targeted email (I did not receive it). Thanks to u/tehflip449.

I’m wondering if the bold section (highlighted by me) means that only existing cards on the account are eligible. Seems odd but that’s definitely what I’m seeing on my account. I didn’t receive the email so I can’t rule out that it’s not just a glitch.

@wendow and @vanjust14- I believe you are fellow Provident mortgagers- Do think if I put in memo Aug Payment in the memo but have it sent at the end of June, Provident would credit it properly? It’s on a MC so no monkeying with the name or anything. Trying to make the most of 1.5% fee.
