AP prices increased [6/18/2019]

So much irritation right now. My wife and I have Gold AP which are up for renewal and now we are conflicted with what to do. I want to justify another $180 for us to maintain the Gold but I simply don't think I can. Passing off SWGE to those who don't really care about it = not cool

I was actually going to buy APs next week. For my family of 4 it will be an extra $1000 now. Insane!
I'm so angry right now!!! We already have our Sept 2019 and 2020 trips planned. All budgeted out. I was waiting just another 2 weeks to have the full amount in cash to then purchase the AP! UGH!!!!:mad:
New Disney Slogan: I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing...that it is all about money.
Sure seems that way now!!!
Platinum Plus: 22.6% increase for non-FL residents, 17.7% for FL residents
Platinum: 25% increase for non-FL residents, 20% for FL residents

Ouch.
This is just ridiculous!!! a 25% increase is just insane!!>:(>:(
I need to go back and re-evaluate the entire planned trip! But, we have our Sept trip planned (it was a special rate given over the phone back before SWGE opening was announced!) And now... you can't even get any kind of discounted rate because of SWGE! Which really frustrates us because we had planned to skip it entirely this trip!! But everything else is paid for!!! Flights booked.... resort paid, only thing left was to pay for the AP passes! >:(
This is just insane..... Disney being greedy!!

As long as enough people pay it it’s not out of control, it’s just good business. (Personally a 25% jump tells me they are trying to cut back on the amount of out of state AP holders.)

Not sure they're intention is to cut back the number of out of state passholders, but to close the gap on the amount of savings. I've gotten 4 trips out of my AP this year. The first trip savings covered the cost of the AP. I literally saved thousands in total. Even with the price increase, I would have still save a ton of money. No one likes price increases, but it's still a huge money saver for me. What it will cut down on is the number of people who buy 1 ap for a single, longer trip. But for those who make multiple trips a year and stay on site at a deluxe or DVC- an AP is still a huge money saver.

What's the percentage discount for the renewal rate, does anyone remember?

And I just found it -- roughly 15%, for anyone who's wondering. 15% off the new rates, I assume it's still a thing?

I'm fixing to retire early next year and I have been considering getting an AP so I could make 3 to 4 trips. But with this ridiculous increase I am reconsidering....

I don’t get just springing this on people with no warning. It just seems so thoughtless to me.

They never officially announce increases before they happen. That would be foolish. Usually there are rumblings of it and the opening of 2020 bookings was a good clue. A good rule of thumb is if you know you're going, buy tickets and book your room asap. If you wait, you're risking the price going up just like with anything else in this world. I already had an AP. My grown kids bought theirs for our July and October trips as soon as we booked the rooms. Glad they did, saved them a lot of money.

That’s us too. We have been AP holders for several years. We’ll be retiring in 2-3 years & I expected we’d be able to make a few longer trips per year after that. Now, maybe not.
