I get your point, but I think Disney gave up caring that things look like a "money grab" a LONG time ago.Now it just looks like a trap set/money grab.

That’s a really good point, actually. That would’ve been a truly brilliant money grab. Hundreds of disappointed new Platinum passholders would still be hundreds of new Platinum passholders.I would think they could have announced an AP price increase (coming in a week) and they would have been flooded with sales of people renewing and panic buying.
This -I would maybe not feel so salty about this increase if there was another option for those of us out of state. We don't go during peak times, so I would be 100% fine with blackout dates, but being out of state, our only option is Platinum or higher. I just renewed in April, so I have a bit left, but both roomie and I discussed it this morning, and this will push us not to renew again. (Hers is due for renewal in November.) We'll go back to being once a year people, because this makes it to where we have to go 3 times a year to make it worth it, and while we did that this year, it wasn't the plan to continue. We were settling into twice a year people. Suddenly the renovations to my laundry room we discussed over father's day seem like a much better use of my money.
The words I want to use are not allowed on the DIS.
I tend to agree. Granted, I’m sure Disney isn’t upset about the extra $$$ but I think they are definitely trying to control the # of passholders as well by pricing many families out. This makes me think that they feel they dont need AP passholders. They are more worried about crowd control ..and having a large group of people that can just show up on a whim is hard to control.
No. For Pandora, you selected your eligible guests at registration. So you’d be registering both of you at the same time and it was 1 slot per person.
I’m not but entirely sure, but I’d assume since he doesn't need a ticket to enter the park on a regular day, he could enter the preview with you without a ticket (AP) as well. I’d check to see if there’s an option to add him to the reservation when booking, though, simply for head count purposes.what if you have a child under 3 my husband and I are both platinum but our son won't be 3 until october. if this event shows up how would we go about bringing him because obviously we would not leave our son behind

Silver lining, this is one thing that will decrease SOME crowds. Gotta find a positive about this somewhere.*clap* *clap* *clap*
Well played Disney, Well played. Get people wanting to get SWGE previews and then jack the price by 25% .. Wow. I can usually justify Disneys business decisions, but this is shocking and pretty blatant.
Wow ..I am just surprised they didnt raise the prices first THEN announce there would be SWGE previews. Maybe someone let the cat out of the bag too early.
No chances I will be renewing now. I have been enjoying it (and still have several months left) but ... $225 a person?
So what is the math now on a Platinum Pass? When I got mine last year (AFTER they had already increased a lot to $895) .. I calculated that the AP price was the same as if you bought two sets of 4-5 day hoppers. How many days do you need to go now to justify the cost? Do you know have to go on 3 trips (or two really long trips) to justify tthis cost?
It makes sense .. with the new DAILY pricing and increasing crowds, they need to get a handle on guests who can just come whenever they want -- thus increase the price to reduce the amount of people who had annual passes.
It's a for-profit business, why should they care about appearing to make money?I get your point, but I think Disney gave up caring that things look like a "money grab" a LONG time ago.
Before we get too lost in the spiral of the price increase announcement I'm wondering if there is any speculation about WHEN they'll be releasing the invitations
