I guess our new plan is Dh has to move everything to the garage and we are leaving without them picking stuff up. Our neighbor or the guy buying the house is gonna sign when they finally come to pick it up. They said the latest would be tomorrow morning (like I’m gonna believe that). I think Dh mentioned he will get $500 or something for the labor of him moving stuff. I’ll have to double check with him.

@wendow happy to chat DVC. We have both direct and resale and I did lots of math between renting points, credit card churning discounted rooms, and lost opportunity cost if we had just invested the money.

@Haley R I’m so sorry for all the stress they’ve put on you with the scheduling mix up. I hope it’s all settled soon and that they make up for the hassle.

On our way to Hawaii, totally made use of the Priority Pass restaurant credit at SFO. The process is pretty smooth. They just scan your card and you get $56 credit. I used both (one from CSR and one from Amex Plat) of my memberships to get free lunch and dinner. We had a long layover. In between that time, we went to the Amex Centurion lounge in terminal. That was my first time going to one. I just got my Amex Plat a couple months ago. It was super crowded and hard to find a seat. The food and drinks were petty good though. I’m not very good at making trip reports but if you want to follow along on Instagram stories, just let me know. We are visiting Maui and the Big Island.

SFO question. We fly in on Delta next month. Do you know if you’re allowed to visit both on departure and arrival or arrival only? Thanks!

You can if you pay the enrollment fee which I think is $95. SO barley uses his card so we didn’t enroll. He hasn’t even come close to spending 10,000 to get the annual fee back.
Interesting. I'll have to ask him about add the fee. I think he'd meet 10k in a couple mos easily.

Thanks! It is my birthday vacation so maybe I’ll give it a try although our flight doesn’t arrive until 10 pm and we’ll be heading out in the morning to grab our car and head to Clearwater. So really just a place to rest our heads for the night.
we stayed there this past week on our arrival...plane was delayed so after midnight ...two kids, carseat etc etc dragging thru to hotel desk, this was a great, comfortable option for a quick night! I was too tired to even ask about rooms etc. my nephew loved the view over the runway in the morning when he woke up!

If anyone has a Sam's Club membership, supposedly you can still buy a Platinum membership from them at the old price. You receive a voucher to exchange it for a Platinum pass.

@Haley R bringing this over from the annual pass holder preview thread. No clue if it works or is available everywhere but might be worth looking into (even if it means buying a membership). @wendow too!

Catching up and was about to share it! I may sign up for a Sams membership right now. Still cheaper than a renewal considering I need two. But discounted gift cards... THE STRUGGLE!

So I received confirmation from Amex that my 15K MR bonus posted for referring DH to BBP last week.

Still nothing on DH referring me to Delta Gold 2 weeks ago. Is this something to just wait and see on? I plan to close his Platinum when the fee is due next month.

My dh is filling out info for his new job. He has to apply for an Amex corporate card (guessing not a small biz card) and he will be managing the card and responsible for paying the bill. He has to pay the bill and then submit for reimbursement. Is that weird?!?! Do y'all think he will earn MR's from a corporate card?

Also, he had to fill out something about which loyalty program he wants his airline and car rental miles to go towards. He put in SW. So, it seems no matter what company he earns miles from will be credited as SW. What!?!

Anyone have a setup like this with your company?

At my company we have a similar set-up. I don't have a corporate card but my DH does but he's had it so long, I don't know how the set-up went. The bill gets paid by corporate but he can see the card in his AmEx login. He doesn't get any points from it but he uses it so infrequently it doesn't matter. We can use personal cards, as long as its occasionally, get the points and then get reimbursed.

For the loyalty program we have a corporate travel agent and all reward, preferences, etc are stored in there. Then when travel is booked they have your reward info as well as any preferences like window seat on the plane, high floor for rooms, ect. We do get the points for travel for this. Like I had a trip last year and got Delta miles and Hilton points. I think this is a pretty common set-up.

I have a green corporate Amex. I do not pay the fee, and I have to put all travel on it "as per corporate policy"

I book all of my travel through a third party system and the Amex charges feed directly into the travel system. I then upload receipts for my charges, attach them to each expense, and then it gets sent off to some finance team for payment. I do get the bill sent to my home address monthly, but I do not have to do anything with it unless I am delinquent in filling out my expense report or accidentally charge something personal on it. I do not receive any points for my purchases and I do not get offers on the card. The card does not show up on my credit report either.

The third party system also houses all my loyalty accounts and I should select the preferred providers for my company based on the policy again. I earn all loyalty rewards through the bookings.

This is how it works at my company. Not sure about others with corporate Amex.

Unfortunately, that's not weird, that's pretty much how almost all corporations have gone. They make it your responsibility to pay for your charges and submit the expenses for reimbursement. Depending on the reimbursement schedule you could be reimbursed before the charges are even due so for the most part you wouldn't have to float much. (But it is a terrible system to ask your employees for a 0% interest float for work expenses, especially if your reimbursement system sucks, but I digress. fingers crossed they have their act together. )

He could possibly earn MR from a corporate card depending on if the company allows users to participate in the MR program. There is an AF to participate and generally you'd be on the hook to pay that. Last I checked it was $90 no matter the card type. This is all up to the corporation to offer it, so if you're interested I'd have him ask if that's an option. If you can join, it should all just pool into his existing MR account but I'd confirm with AmEx that the card is linked once he gets it setup. I never joined because I used the card so little, and it being a Green card with 1x MR on everything, if I paid the fee I'd have lost money so I don't know much more than that.

As for the loyalty programs, that sounds odd. I think what's most likely is he should give all his loyalty programs and then it'll get added to his reservations so he can earn the points. So if he flies SW, his RR number will be added to the flight and then he'll get the RR points. Next trip he flies AA, his AA number is added to that and he gets AA points. We used AXIOM (I think they changed their name, it's an AmEx travel offering) and I could input a loyalty number for any flight, hotel, or car rental carrier listed into my profile. When I booked my travel my number was attached automatically if I had it stored.

I mean you can earn SW miles for car rentals from partners, so that's possible, but it seems unlikely that an AA flight would generate SW points. I'd double check that info. I'm not saying it's wrong, there's all kinds of travel startups out there that might work like that (i.e they take your AA miles for the company and pay out in your preferred currency, probably for a lower earning rate. IDK just spit balling), but it just seems odd.

Y’all. My dh has gone more cray-cray than Disney. Anyone who is very knowledgeable about dvc willing to pm and chat? Don't want to clog up the board with a bunch of very newbie questions but I'd rather ask my friends here than go to the dvc forums...
ok, see, I think it is this new formatting, I am just seeing this now somehow and it is 4 pages back. Anyhow, PM'd you my friend!

That sounds a lot like what my dh's policy will be but he says he sends in his receipts each week for reimbursement and then he pays the bill. This is from one of the forms he filled out " i have the opportunity to participate in the Membership Rewards program and I understand that if the bill is not paid on time, my points will be forfeited. They may be reinstated for $29 per cycle" and he had to check he agreed to this. No fee he said.

He has to use the company card as well.

I think he will book through a company called Concur. Think they are affliated with Amex.

So I have been busy this morning at work... making another spreadsheet for myself LOL

Pricing a 75 point direct Poly contract, thinking these are my best CC options with referrals:
3 CIPs - Redeem for future travel via CSR: $171 pp
3 CIPs - Cashed out: $195 pp

If I can't get CIP 3, then I would refer to a CSP:
2 CIPs, 1 CSP - Redeem for future travel via CSR: $177 pp
2 CIPs, 1 CSP - Cashed out: $198 pp

I would also throw some on the Amex Plat to complete that MSR if its within the next 2 months.

While price per point is still high, I would have never thought to do this years ago when purchasing and the price was lower. Could CC be my breakeven point? 😂

One thing to keep in mind is that when I paid for my contract with my husband's credit card they were willing to take it because he was listed on the contract. I think you said you would have family get CIP's? They would need to either have you as an employee or they would need to be on the contract.

You can pm me too. I finally did the math and when you account for the 280 points I used plus the discounts and credit card points I actually came out ahead on the sell of the direct OKW contract I bought last year. I used 5 different cards for DRR...now I have to pay it off but it definitely makes me want another direct purchase! Easiest way to make MSR's ever...and if you have 0% cards it is easy to float the money for a little while.

Thank you for thinking of me. At this point, that’s the furthest thing on my mind right now. Idk if we’ll even get APs now. If we did want to look at them is it online on the sams club website? Or somewhere else?

What’s the cash advance thing? Was curious about the HELOC and Plastiq as well.
Effective 6/1/18 Plastiq announced some changes to using personal Visa credit cards, and many personal Visa cards will be treated as a cash advance, while some personal Visa cards will limit you to 20% of your credit limit. The following cards will not be affected:

  • Capital One personal VISA credit card
  • Visa business, corporate, debit, and prepaid cards
  • American Express*, Mastercard, Discover & JCB cards
Cards that are affected can be found listed here: https://plastiq.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005215254
