Random Plastiq question:

I am not advocating for abusing their "support" program BUT... has anybody signed up their kids? Has anybody done anything else crazy to bump up their Plastiq FFDs?

I was thinking of that 2 player strategy we've discussed (for those that haven't seen that):

• P1 uses a DISchurner link gets $500 FFDs after spending $500)
• P2 signs up using P1s link and they get $500 FFDs (after spending $500)
• P1 gets $1,000 FFDs from the support click

It's just so lucrative that you can get $2,000 in FFDs for only spending $1,000 while paying the fee... Like I said, I don't want to abuse this but I'm looking for other potential ways to bump that up.

EDIT: I'm still going to post this BUT I did just review their Terms of Service and I see you have to be 18 to signup and that you authorize them to verify your identity so perhaps I'm just grasping at straws here... I guess the only legit way to do this is to ask your parents and relatives and such if you can sign them up, haha!

Just a warning: Plastiq shut down @pillow’s and her family members’ accounts that used her referral code last summer because Plastiq thought she was creating multiple accounts for the same person, even though the accounts were for actual people and payments were made from those accounts.

I would still be hesitant to create accounts for multiple family members and abandon those accounts after you’ve made only the bare minimum payment(s) to trigger the referral bonus on the master referring account.

We did a Walmart grocery pick up today. I ordered a whistle for our hurricane kit and they substituted it for tweezers....what?

I think I might like BW better than yacht and beach. Who would’ve thought!?
My room is immaculate. Hands down the cleanest room I’ve stayed in. I thoughtstained carpet had become the norm at wdw, but this BW room is very well kept...not a stain in sight. Me! I've loved BWV since I bought it in 2000. They do marshmallow roasting at that firepit some afternoons. No chocolate or graham crackers, just marshmallows. Next time I have the grands there I'm going to baggie up some Hershey's and graham crackers and be ready! Hilton Head and Vero do the whole Smore's thing with their campfire singalongs.

I also own at BCV and I do like Yacht and Beach and the property, but after many stays at both, BWV is my favorite. I like that they have community hall and the lawn outside where the kids can run and play, plus the movies and other activities. My grands loved the baby pool/playground last trip also.

I was there when all the trees were still little and if you stayed on the second floor you could see above the trees. Now, you have to look between the branches and I want to go chop chop on many visits.

As for this, obviously the 5% categories aren't a for sure thing, but the Freedom has ended up being better for me because of them. Part of that is also because we keep slowly opening a new card anyways (always be MSRing lol) so I all non category spend was going to those.

Let's say, you can average hitting $4k of the total $6k in 5x categories... you would need something like $13,333 on the CFU to match the number of URs. Just as an example. Basically for every $1k you could spend in the 5x categories, you would need to put $3333 on a CFU for the same number of points.

Okay that makes sense. We have our discover cards too that give us the 5% back on certain categories. I’m gonna have to add all of these to my spreadsheet lol.

Just looking through the DVC rental store’s posting for points rental deals today, and there are some really good deals in case anyone is looking. BWV and AK savanna view studio rooms for just over $200 a night. The reservation dates are already set. I think the dates I saw were mostly September and October. I know September is usually cheaper anyway, but...still seems like it’s less than usual. Anyway, thought I’d throw that out there in case it helps somebody.

ETA could this be a typo? 3 nights pool view bwv $360. $120/night? Sept 1-4

That will give you a few more days. That should be your closing date, Aug 21. The credit will reset Aug 22 then, so you'll have from then until about 9/1 or so to use it. Technically 30 days from Aug 1 is Aug 31... I missed my ILs cards by a few days so they were almost 35 days past the AF posting and was able to close them and have it refunded. If you are going to PC, I think 40 days is the typical number, after that is a partial refund. So if you don't get it done in time you may lose $37.50. I did that with mine because I needed the GE credit but was waiting on my new passport to come.

Okay that makes a lot more sense. I’m just gonna plan on booking a Disney hotel on August 22 then and will most likely cancel it. We will PC it to a freedom and I don’t want to risk missing that 40 day window.

Holy cow! I might have to show these to Dh! Stinks that that one is September 1-4 which is during the week. I’m not sure if he could take off work but for $120/night?!

We didn’t take DS until he was 5 to Hershey. Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster is much better for younger children, IMO. If I had mixed children then I would do Hershey. There is stuff for younger children but there are just so many teenagers and stuff, I just feel better at DW.

Totally agree. We had APs to DW for DS was 1-4 then when did APs for DW and HP when he was 5-6 and then moved on to only HP since then.
