No!! All is well! There is no round of cancellations :) just dumb Citi CSRs. It’s recommended to drop CLs prior to closing cards because it’s suspected Citi takes into account all Citi issued CLs to you, including closed cards, when determining the credit line for new cards.
I don't know why my computer is missing some of the words I type in posts lately. I had meant to say this is "my first" round of cancellations. I edited it. sorry for any confusion. I will hope for the best and lower my CLs from now on. Thanks!

Sending “you don’t want me” vibes your way. At least being at the beginning they’ve still got lots of chances to dismiss jurors!

Thanks! And also a good point. The survey thing said multiple witnesses for each side too and no court this friday which makes me wonder what they'd do next week since they figure to be done the 1st. One can only hope you don't get someone that slows down deliberation.

Hmm... You know my biz ones were much more generous with the limits than my personal ones. Are you thinking it’s possible Biz CLs are determined by a separate system than Personal CLs? Sounds weird enough to be true...
That’s precisely what I’m wondering. I’ve never heard anybody advising people to slash their biz CLs but every once in awhile I hear people advocating for it (but it seems to be primarily on the personal side). I wonder if it’s necessary at all too haha. Sometimes we start these churning “myths” based on some random inaccurate DP. I guess it doesn’t hurt to do it as a precaution - it’s not like it’s hard to reduce them.

Hey @Andysol - I think you’ve been riding the train hard both on personal and biz (right?). Do you reduce CLs before canceling?

I haven’t been (I’m on the biz only train) and have had no issues getting 3x biz cards each with a $20k limit while closing them around the 60 day mark.
from reading other groups, the majority of the ppl on the AA train drop their unneeded AA card's limit down to $2k and move on to the next card.

My DH had a Chase business card closed for inactivity in the last year or two (have to check the date). Rookie move on our part, we met the spend for the bonus and then stuck it in a drawer.

My question: Would he be able to get another Chase business card? How long should we wait?

We are planning to get the SW companion pass for 2020/2021 and would do so with a personal and business (unless they offer the bank account bonus, then that would be an option). I'd also like to get him some other Chase business cards for UR purposes.

He currently has an Amex business card that we do put spend on periodically. It's a legitimate, although small, side gig of a business.

You could get a biz card right now. Some people are getting 3-4 Chase biz cards per year.

I don’t think that would hurt his chances at all....a lot of us open a new Chase card..business or personal about every 3 months

Uhh...I'm not sure what just happened. I went to lower the credit limits on our Citi AA biz cards before I canceled them, hoping this would improve auto approval chances the next time around. I started a chat with Citi to lower the limit on DH's AA biz card. The rep told me AA points would expire if unused after 18 months, and asked if I wanted to continue. I said yes, and he replied "We respect your decision, your account has been closed". I guess that's one way of closing an account :confused3 Oh citi...how you confuse me.
Ok. I'm confused. I received my bonus and closed the accounts but did not lower my CL's. I got the same "We respect your decision" response. Should I be concerned about something? This is my first round of cancellations since getting on the train.

For what it’s worth, AK’s guide mentions doing that on personal cards but makes no mention of reducing prior to cancelling your AA biz cards.

Hahha I got the same response yesterday on chat. Also, DH and I have both had 20k limits on each of our two Biz cards. I cut the credit limit on one but not the other before canceling and reapplying. Still got 20k limits the second time around.

My DS9 requested we do a culinary class for his homeschooling. I am so looking forward to letting him plan and make some meals! :yay:
I must have missed that you were for sure homeschooling DS9...good luck!!! I hope it goes well for both of you. My DS11 wants to go to school this year so I will just have my DS9 at home with me. Should be interesting...he's my strong willed child!
This is just to fund, but no bonus, right? So one could open an account and fund with a card like CIU for 1.5x points or Arrival+ for 2x and then withdraw it...all just for the points, right?
Yes, no bonus for the checking account, but yeah you could just do it for the points if you want.

OK, it's my turn to ask for next card suggestions

P1 (me lol) 3/24
07/18 - CHASE Freedom
09/18 - CHASE Sapphire Reserve
12/18 - CHASE Southwest Priority
02/19 - CHASE Southwest Business
06/19 - CHASE Ink Preferred
P2 2/24
07/18 - CHASE Sapphire Preferred
10/18 - CHASE Hyatt
05/19 - CHASE Ink Preferred
(also ancient Discover and non-rewards Citi)
A few details about P2's situation:
  • he is semi-reluctant
  • he does not want another business card at this point
  • a non-Chase card, especially AmEx, might be best because of the "different" factor
  • we have a very large airline spend in the next week or so; an airline multiplier could be good
  • he flies from PHL when he travels 2-3x/yr for work. He has gotten used to my CSR and enjoys a good lounge  PHL has nothing good for PP.
  • should we PC his CSP? I can get him to carry 2 cards, max. A CFU would be handy for his "wait, what card do I use?" moments, but a CF with 5x quarters makes more sense overall.
And then for me:
  • I have $1500 left on my CIP MSR so I'll be ready by September 1 for another Chase biz card.
  • I have a Citi AA biz mailer that expires 7/31 and an email biz offer that expires 8/5; this is the second email offer I've received
:thanks:

I don't think it's an absolute necessary step. As @gottalovepluto and @SouthFayetteFan said, it didn't seem to affect their biz cards. However, since DH and I were recently denied biz #2 for having biz #1 open, and we still have to wait another 75ish days now till we can reapply, I figured I might as well lower the limits first. I'm trying anything in order to get an auto approval. I did find it really funny that some people have had trouble trying to cancel their cards via chat, yet they canceled my DH's card when I didn't even ask them to!

Oh, and side note - my DD(3) walked up behind me, pointed at the computer monitor and screamed "THAT'S THE BAD GUY" over and over. She was talking about your avatar :rotfl2:

I keep forgetting to post this. For anyone who uses Walmart grocery, Dh and I get $10 off every order when we spend $50 which essentially is 20% off groceries. He refers himself by creating a new gmail which gives him $10 for referring someone and another $10 for creating a new account. We’ve been doing this all year and part of last year and I wanted to mention it for anyone else that could use this. It’s not much but I think we’ve saved like $200 this year on groceries by doing this.
