*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Standard phrase I always asked my kids for summer trips to Disney:
"what happens if it rains?" ==> kids answer "we get wet, no biggie"
We will have to use this! When we go to DLR I usually remind the kids we are from Oregon and the rain levels the playing field.

Just found out they're giving out free Hades ornaments to passholders on Villains After Hours! We're going to the August 8th VAH, so I've got to remember to pick ours up! I've been making a small list of things that we need to remember to try/get. I'm at work currently and the list is at home, but the ones I can remember are:

Cheeseburger Pods from Sa'tuli
Cheeseburger spring rolls from MK
The fruit and Nutella waffle from Sleepy Hollow
The ornament from VAH
The secret passholder treat from Sunshine Seasons

I know there are more, just can't think of them at the moment!

We are leaving tomorrow morning at 4am to begin our long two day drive. :car:
I love road trips!!

Have a safe journey and a blast at Disney World!

We are all checked into our 6:50 AM flight for tomorrow, with a really good boarding group assignment! :jumping1: We are so excited!! If all goes according to plan we will be in the air and MCO bound at this time tomorrow!!!:mickeyjum:goofy::donald::dumbo::tigger::sulley::hmghost::ccat::figment::simba::stitch:

I bouncing with joy for you too :mickeyjum:goofy::dumbo::donald::stitch::simba::ccat:Have a fantastic trip!

@DISNEY1975 I didn't know that LTT changed their menu back to a la carte. We would have booked that to try. The turkey dinner doesn't appeal to anyone but me in the family. I really want to try the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. I'm going to look at our plans and see if there's anything we may want to drop for it.

Yes, and good for you that they even have a turkey dinner on the a la carte menu :)! I havent been in many years. I loved when they would come out to the waiting area and announce that our table was ready. Wonder if they still do that?? !

They did last summer for sure! We used to buy 2 of their mugs every time we ate there. We have almost an entire shelf of LTT mugs!

So jealous of everyone who's starting to head down! I'm dying over here with 15 days to go. I feel like when we were 180, 60, 30 days out things were going pretty quickly and now everything has s l o w e d t o a c r a w l. I just keep watching Tim Tracker vlogs hoping that'll help me pass the time!

We want to try the bioluminescence tour that they just did!

I am almost packed. I just need to wait on hubby to get his suitcase out to put a couple of my outfits in his suitcase and a couple of his in mine when he pulls his clothes out. Then I only have last minute stuff that I'll put in Friday morning while hubby is at work (he works half days on Friday because the college closes at 11:30). Then once he gets home he will shower and grab his last minute stuff, and finish up any last minute stuff he needs to do around the house, we will eat lunch at the house and then probably head on to Nashville. I figure by the time hubby gets all his last minute stuff done it may be around 4:00 ish when we actually hit the road. Its a little under 2 hours to Nashville but with us getting there around 6 on a Friday night traffic may be bad by then. But at least we won't be in a hurry since our only plan is to grab supper and just hang out in the room so we can get to bed early for our early shuttle to the airport Saturday. We will also need to attach our MDE tags. I also packed the magicbands in my carry on because knowing hubby he would end up forgetting them or packing them in the checked luggage.
Now tomorrow will be spent going to the bank, to Target, Sams and Walmart for groceries. Since hubby is a teacher he only gets paid once a month with his regular job so I grocery shop for a month at a time (minus perishables of course) so that's what all my errands are tomorrow. I also want to get the kids some cash to leave with them in case they decide to order pizza or go out to eat one night while we are gone. They'll also have our checkbook if anything else happens to pop up. I got all of mu laundry done yesterday (all hampers are empty except hubby's work clothes, which I'll wash Thursday evening once he gets home), but I'm sure I'll have to end up throwing in a last minute load thursday probably.
It's getting real now!

Yup, I'm dying too. I'm so desperate I was even listening to the Voices of Liberty on YouTube today.

I just have to get through my 3 hour long meeting(I've already warned everyone that focusing will not be my strong suit today!) and then home to finish cleaning and take the dogs to the doggy sitter.

Nobody should endure 3 hour meetings

There is no longer curbside drop off/pickup. You have to go to the central parking garage and apparently there is an area there. I never made it there. Was so confused on where to go, with my DS telling me to take the "arrivals" ramp, even though he was departing?? I took this ramp and entered into a garage..not sure which one, but my DS was not happy with my turn into the garage, to put it midly!! Next thing I knew, 5 cars were behind me and I had no choice but to take a ticket and enter the garage! I dropped him off at the nearest door and followed exit signs. It wasnt pleasant :)
Thank you so much for posting this. No idea why they are changing this and they should send emails out. Although I kind of can see as it is total mayhem at drop off

I report to the CHRO of my company (I run recruitment) and I now have to find 30 minutes next week between the hours of 5-7am to have a meeting with my European counterparts during the first vacation I've taken in 6 years. My wife also needs to find 30 minutes for a late afternoon meeting with her east coast team. We are both beyond pissed as is my 12 year old son at us. This is not how I wanted to have my vacation. I was planning on turning off outlook notifications and only check my email every other day

Just added a super quick, rather last minute August visit to our list of 2019 trips! Going the 18-21st mainly for the AP SWGE preview and to meet up with very close DIS friends  Staying at CSR, no plans yet other than the preview and one dinner with friends. We rarely plan too far out and were just there for the 4th, go back in Sept and are totally fine with an on the fly trip!

My son came home Monday and I had a little conversation with him about his attitude when I dropped him off! He took an Uber home (planned not because of the argument!) He apparently had a discussion with the Uber driver about where exactly the drop off is. He was told the no more curbside drop off/pickup was for Ubers and Lyfts only and regular vehicles that are not a paid service can still drop off at the curb until October 1st. Not sure about after that ???

So my almost fistfight with my DS was for nothing!

Our Magical Express information arrived today. They sent it UPS. Still has my mom's name in the main spot. Hoping that won't be any kind of issue. It's my name in MDE and online. I've concluded this happened because we have 2 rooms and she is the other adult on the reservation.

I woke up with a wicked spinal migraine so I didn't work. It was too hard to look at the computer screen until this evening. Did manage to get ds to camp and dd to her hair appointment. She's super happy to have her hair braided.

Tomorrow we're at the two week mark. We are definitely ready for some time away. Before that we have meet the teacher at dd's school so we'll get her supplies after that.

Safe travels to everyone heading down now or leaving in the next few days. I hope everyone has a great trip with lots of magic.

I feel your pain. I started in a new department at my company in March. Not only new to me, but literally a new department that didnt exist until the day me and my boss started. I basically followed her there. We worked together for years prior and when she got the promotion to head up this new department, she asked me to go with her. I was hesitant, but I really love working with her, so I accepted.

Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago and I get the news she resigned to take another position as director at another company.

So now, I am the only one running this department and my 2 week vacation is in 1 week. I have spent every day last week and this week quickly training people just to get by with the daily must do stuff, which is a lot. Its been a scramble between training and getting IT to install all the programs that these coworkers will need. Its going to be a disaster and I was asked yesterday if I was taking my laptop with me. I gave a firm "NO" , but then it was "strongly suggested" I have my phone with me >:(
