Dessert before Dinner: a trifecta of dining reports? Update 9/22 LTT COMPLETE!

What a fun day so far! I've never done EMM before, but really need to think about that for a future trip. Also something I haven't done? Jock Lindsays :sad2: Get it together Tracy :headache:

That sounds like a good breakfast!
We were impressed! I thought it would be crap lol!
Yay a new update! I used to love RFC, but then ate at the one at Paris Disney and it was terrible, which put me off on it. Glad that it worked out for your trip though.
Oh that stinks, but it would do the same for me. I don't plan on going back anytime soon - our next trip with any kids is Dec and so far nobody has asked to eat there lol - and the only way we'll go back is if someone requests. But at least I know if we do end up there it won't suck :rotfl2:
OMG! I too am a huge fan.
I knew someone was a fan! That's why I knew I wanted to try it!
The only thing I don't get about our beloved JL, is WHY do they keep taking everything I love off the menu????? I sure do miss those nachos...They better not take them off the menu at Territory Lounge as those are pretty delish too. :P
Ugh I know,I hate when places take super popular stuff off their menu - it makes no sense! Just hoping the queso is still there in Sept. and yes they better not take away those TL nachos OR the dip at GP!
What a fun day so far! I've never done EMM before, but really need to think about that for a future trip. Also something I haven't done? Jock Lindsays :sad2: Get it together Tracy :headache:
OMG PLEASE get to Jock's next month! I would do this one again on our Sept trip if they were having it but they aren't due to the 6am openings and I doubt they'll have it over NYE but it's definitely worth the cost :)

And there went the $$ we paid for both of them :sad2:
You handled this much better than I. I would have been livid at least at Chris. Of course that is probably just every day with Chris :earboy2:

; oh and for any of you that have been living under a rock for the past 8 months and haven't seen pics of the holiday decor in TSL, here:

IMG_9881.JPG
Me in my rock in fact had not seen this. Adorable!!!

IMG_9888.JPG

I admit I wasn't really in the mood for chicken at 8:50 in the morning as I'm a huge breakfast food person but the potato barrels, donuts and yes even the chicken were all delicious! I mean it was like being at RFC all over again with the surprise lol. Steve ordered this:
That is a whole lotta fried going on right there. Not sure I could stomach that pre 9 am, but it does look good.

IMG_9889.JPG

I have tried grits once and never will again (sorry southerners!) but he likes them, loved these, and as a side note Chris tried grits for the first time in Disney earlier this month and is now a fan too.
But this looks much better. When we were in North Carolina last week I got to have grits for breakfast twice and they were so good. The good Italian in me prefers polenta, but love me some grits too.

I got my Jock's go-to:

Cool-headed Monkey
Starr African Rum, Van Der Hum Tangerine Liqueur, fresh Lime Juice, Watermelon, and Pineapple Juice
I haven't tried this one yet. I'll have to give it a while.

I also want to try the Reggie's Revenge:

Reggie's Revenge
Florida Cane 'Orlando Orange' Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, White Cranberry Juice, and fresh Lime Juice
Now this one I did have. It was too sweet for me which I'm going to guess guarantees you'll like it :drinking1

IMG_9919.JPG

OMG why???? Anyway I can't find a full description but these were Nang Tao popcorn chicken bites with spicy popcorn and boy, if anything spicy ever stood up to its name it's these things, including the popcorn! Chris and I love spicy but our mouths were BURNING. Luckily I had that cool headed monkey to help.............................
I'll have to check out their new menu as I wanted to try this. I had no idea it had been changed around so much.

I hate when places take super popular stuff off their menu - it makes no sense! Just hoping the queso is still there in Sept. and yes they better not take away those TL nachos OR the dip at GP!
We loved Jock Lindsays the first time we went there. Then they took off our favorite whatever it was and we have no desire to go back. The queso was good, though. They also took my favorite salmon sandwich from Geyser Point, the edamame from Territory Lounge (at least the had to good sense to have it at Geyser Point), the wilderness salad from Roaring Forks, the turkey dinner from the lunch menu at Liberty Tavern, - so many things - why do I even go to WDW. ;)

At least they still have the Magic Bar.

You handled this much better than I. I would have been livid at least at Chris.
Well I kind of just left the livid out of the report.....we both said a few choice words in reference to our youngest on the way to HS.
Of course that is probably just every day with Chris :earboy2:
:worship:
That is a whole lotta fried going on right there. Not sure I could stomach that pre 9 am, but it does look good.
I know, that's why I left the chicken  Youknow I can do sweet pretty much anytime but I can't do some of those huge croissant donuts they've had in certain places at certain times loaded with chocolate and stuff; I do have a limit before say 10:30am 8-)
Now this one I did have. It was too sweet for me which I'm going to guess guarantees you'll like it :drinking1
Ah yes, now I remember where I saw the review of this! And yup, you saying it was too sweet made me think it'll be perfect for me

Well this was a depressing comment :worried: ha ha but I get it. In addition to taking things off Jock's menu they removed the lobster mac n cheese Ricky loved at Narcoossee's and the key lime pie I fell in love with at Citricos. I'm sure if I think hard enough I can remember more but I don't want to!
At least they still have the Magic Bar.
Do not jinx this!!!!!! :-)

I got my Jock's go-to:

I don't think I need to tell you what Steve got..........
I LOVE the cool headed monkey and told Steve next time we go I want to buy the cup! But now I also want to try the Reggie's Revenge:
Can you guy the cups?!?! And I think it's the Tangerine Liqueur and lime juice that make it so good!

Andy and I had this last October. It was called Popcorn Chicken... I liked it alot. And fun. But yeah, I think it is gone now. They seem to like to change the menu alot here.

I'd talked about making your own treats at Goofy's Candy Company forever but we never seemed to get there, and after me bringing back the the rice krispie treat I'd made there earlier in the trip they were bent on doing it. It's fun to watch your creation being made and even more fun to eat them! Ricky ended up finishing his that night but we had to leave half of Chris's behind when we moved resorts the next day. But they were happy to have done it and I'm always happy to give them something new to do in Disney!
YEAH!!! We love doing these. It is just fun to pick out the stuff and watch them make it!

it's a great snack credit item! You can get the marshmellow or rice krispee with 1 snack credit. I don't think the apple counts, as it is more $$.

Can you guy the cups?!?
I know you can buy the monkey one because they've asked me if I want it so I assume you can buy any specialty cup there :-)

I thoroughly enjoyed eating my rice krispie treat I had made until Chris ate the rest lol. Makes sense the apple may not be a credit since it's bigger; we haven't done the DDP in years so I'm just not up on what all is a snack credit and what's not other than that some things there are.

Hi all, as is my MO it's been way to long since I updated. As many of you know we've had a rather big couple of weeks; some good some bad. First on July 19th our 2nd grandchild, a grandson was born! Carter Paul is my younger stepson's child and we couldn't be happier, everyone is doing well. Then a couple days later Ricky got cleared by his surgeon to go back to playing sports, NO RESTRICTIONS, after his 2 ACL tears and almost 2 years out. This was the absolute best news we'd heard in forever!
Unfortunately shortly after that my MIL became ill and passed away last Friday so we're still dealing with that; as I said the really great was mixed with the bad. But life goes on and the one good thing that came out of this besides her being in a better place is that Steve and I booked a quick August Disney getaway complete with a SWGE preview :darth: Which is going to be super interesting for these 2 non SW fans!

I had left off after a fun afternoon at DS eating at our go-to Jock Lindsay's and making treats for the first time at Goofy's Candy Co. We made our way back to SSR via boat to chill a bit and change before heading to our evening park where our dinner plans were:

beourguest.jpg

This had previously been one of our absolute favorite TS restaurants and we'd eaten there about 8x for dinner before the menu/2 credit change so we were interested in seeing how it was now. We were kind of sad that certain dishes were off the menu but still had high hopes.

I started with a wine I discovered down in Disney not long ago:

Banfi Rosa Regale Brachetto d'Acqui, Piedmont

IMG_9939.JPG

This may be a very familiar wine to most of you but I just started drinking wine about 4 years ago and mostly stick to anything white/pink and super sweet. This fits the sweet bill but you see it's red so I was surprised when I tried it somewhere else down there! I also have no idea what Steve had here but thinking they don't have mules he probably had a beer of some sort.

We'd hoped the rolls changed to something spectacular but at least back in Nov. they were still the same:

IMG_9940.JPG

Fine, crispy on the outside and soft inside but nothing out of the ordinary.

Three of us went for appetizers. First Ricky went with something he'd had before and while they maybe changed the broth? He still enjoyed it:

French Onion Soup
Toasted Crouton, Gruyère, and Provolone

IMG_9942.JPG

Always mid-trip Steve decides to get a bit healthy so he ordered a salad:
Mixed Field Greens
Drunken Goat Cheese, Hazelnut Brittle, and Asparagus with a Stone Fruit Vinaigrette

IMG_9941.JPG

I do spy some goat cheese that may or may not have had too much to drink but obviously there is no hazelnut brittle or asparagus to be found so they clearly have changed the salad since Nov. Probably not a bad thing as Steve wasn't happy with his greens and said it was way too overdressed.
I tried something I think they had a variation of on the old menu but I'd never had:

Assorted Meats and Artisanal Cheese Selection

Chicken Liver Pâté, Shaved Serrano Ham, Chorizo Sausage, Pleasant Ridge Cheddar, Truffle Tremor, and Stilton Blue with Seasonal Garnishes
IMG_9943.JPG

Ugh this is where I wish these pictures were lighter! I found it hard to get good pics in there but it was probably just that I suck at taking them. Chicken liver pate aside (I left that for Steve) this was really good and all were a nice size. The chorizo was especially a standout.

So far we weren't too disappointed other than with the salad so we were eagerly awaiting our entrees. We were seated in the ballroom which is our least favorite room since it's so big and noisy but it is pretty when decorated for the holidays. Still the noise level was a bit off-putting.

Finally the dinner was served. Chris and I got our usual:

Center-cut Filet Mignon

Robuchon Yukon Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Cipollini Marmalade with a Red Wine Glaze

IMG_9947.JPG

Here's where the sadness set in. This was formally a very close tie for Chris as his favorite filet in the WORLD, Narcoossee's being the other one. I also had this one at the top of my list. Unfortunately neither of ours were good this time at all. They were cooked medium as we requested but the meat wasn't tender and the seasoning just wasn't......the same. We both actually left meat and that's rare for Chris; the potatoes were the star here.

Steve has had a few dishes here and tonight went with the other white meat:

Herb-salted Pork Tenderloin

Crispy Pork Belly, Corn Purée, Fava Beans, and Green Garlic Pistou

IMG_9945.JPG

This also looks different from the description as I don't see fava beans to say the least? And it doesn't look like pork belly to me but then again I've never eaten that so......................I do know Steve again wasn't impressed by the lack of flavoring. I'm pretty sure he had potatoes of some sort with his because I remember them not being as good as the ones Chris and I had.

Finally we come to Ricky. Ricky doesn't eat steak or seafood and only sometimes eats pork so he got the chicken. He'd had the chicken dish here before but this was different

Poulet Rouge Chicken
Confit Fingerling Potatoes, Haricot Verts, Heirloom Tomatoes, and a Sauce Meunière

IMG_9946.JPG

I think this might could be what he had? Regardless he didn't like it. Sorry I can't give accurate feedback since the menu has changed, since I waited so freaking long to do this. Just trust me when I say the entrees were not good and had gone seriously downhill since our last visit which was only about 8 months prior.

BE OUR GUEST CONTINUED

We weren't looking forward to dessert since we were fans of the cupcakes. I am also a huge dessert person and prefer to choose what I want. But hey, if it's there I'll eat it!

Be Our Guest dessert trio
Almond Macaron

with Lemon Jam and Raspberries
Dark Chocolate Truffle
filled with Dark Chocolate Grand Marnier Ganache
White Chocolate "Chip" Cup
with Grey Stuff and Crisp Pearls
IMG_9952.JPG

IMG_9953.JPG

This ended up being the best part of the meal after my app and my wine! The macaroon was absolutely delicious; the lemon and raspberry flavors go so well together. The dark chocolate truffle was good too if you like dark chocolate which I do; nobody else really liked it but that's ok. The Chip cup is supposed to be mostly white chocolate with the grey stuff inside. that tasted the same it's ok - and the cup did have nice, sweet white chocolate flavor. If I had it my way though we would be able to order any of the 3 and I think all of us would have chosen the macaron.

And that was that! By that I mean most likely the last time we eat dinner at BOG with the current menu. Chris did request it for your Dec. trip but I conveniently did not book it :rolleyes1 If they change the menu and it gets super good reviews I may be willing to take Chris again but as it stands now - nope. And it's sad because I feel TS in the MK is severely lacking and this used to be a decent choice.

MK had late EMH tonight and we were going to stay for a bit so we watched HEA from right outside BOG. After that we took this cute family pic that surprisingly everyone was on board with standing in line for:

lantern.jpg

We then did a holiday evening favorite of mine, Jingle Cruise, followed by an nighttime ride on the PeopleMover. Chris was a little too cool for it:
chrispp.JPG

We did a few more rides but the boys weren't as up to a late night as we thought they'd be and Ricky's knee needed some rest so we left after about an hour of EMH. Tomorrow wasn't an early morning but we were moving over to the WL CL and it was Thanksgiving!

Always mid-trip Steve decides to get a bit healthy so he ordered a salad

:rotfl: Steve is much better than I am. About mid-way through the trip is when I usually have a screw-it moment and decide to eat whatever I please.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm so glad it wasn't just me! I found the same thing.

Just trust me when I say the entrees were not good and had gone seriously downhill since our last visit which was only about 8 months prior.

This is so unfortunate. Especially with the price/credit increase.

The macaroon was absolutely delicious; the lemon and raspberry flavors go so well together.

Agreed! We liked this, too!

If I had it my way though we would be able to order any of the 3 and I think all of us would have chosen the macaron.

We thought the same. I wish you didn't have to get all three. It seems silly if you only really want one thing.

Chris did request it for your Dec. trip but I conveniently did not book it :rolleyes1

lol

And it's sad because I feel TS in the MK is severely lacking and this used to be a decent choice.

Agreed.

After that we took this cute family pic that surprisingly everyone was on board with standing in line for:

This is such a great photo! :lovestruc

This trip seems like a lifetime ago. I’m not a huge fan of BOG anymore either and I don’t see us returning either. But, I will say breakfast with you and Steve was lovely.❤️

How do you ruin filet mignon? It is usually the one guarantee of having a good entree.

By the way, how did you like SSR? Did you have a deluxe studio?

What a bummer meal at BoG! I have heard quite a few negative reviews with the menu changes!

The dessert are so darn cute!

As many of you know we've had a rather big couple of weeks; some good some bad.
Yes, a lot to be happy for, for sure. Still sending hugs to you all for the loss of Steve's mom. But as you said, she's in a better place now. :goodvibes

Always mid-trip Steve decides to get a bit healthy so he ordered a salad:
He should really learn to just power through. Vacations (and life) are for eating the good stuff :rotfl:

Just trust me when I say the entrees were not good and had gone seriously downhill since our last visit which was only about 8 months prior.
Ugh. What a bummer! I've only ever been to BOG for lunch shortly after they opened. Someday I'll get back, but it like won't be for dinner... especially not after this "glowing" review ;)

That's a shame that you didn't really enjoy BOG! I wonder if they changed their menu after you went because our meal was really good in March! The bread was baguettes and our steaks were really good!

I do spy some goat cheese that may or may not have had too much to drink but obviously there is no hazelnut brittle or asparagus to be found so they clearly have changed the salad since Nov. Probably not a bad thing as Steve wasn't happy with his greens and said it was way too overdressed.
That looks and sounds absolutely nothing like the description. Poor Steve. But at least it was healthy

Chicken liver pate aside (I left that for Steve) this was really good and all were a nice size. The chorizo was especially a standout.
Oh I would have so devoured this. Chicken liver pate and chicken liver mousse are some of my favorite things on this planet.

Oh that is a big drop in quality. Poor Chris. You in Steve should try Jiko in August or September. My filet there was ah-maz-ing!!!!

Just trust me when I say the entrees were not good and had gone seriously downhill since our last visit which was only about 8 months prior.
That really is too bad. How do you elevate yourself to signature status and then make the food go downhill???? I know you all have liked this but it really was a one and one for us and that was when it first opened!!!

Glad to see dessert remedied the meal slightly. But poor Chip. He's almost too cute to eat

This may be one of my favorite picture of you all. I love how all of the boys are looking at you. Its evident who they did this picture for ♥

Congrats on the baby and the knee!

I'm sorry about your MIL. :(

I love your lantern picture of your family!

It's a bummer that Be Our Guest has gotten so lackluster lately. I'm glad you liked the desserts since that's obviously the most important part of the meal.

Steve is much better than I am. About mid-way through the trip is when I usually have a screw-it moment and decide to eat whatever I please.
Well you're both better than me because I say screw it before we leave the house!
This is so unfortunate. Especially with the price/credit increase.
It really is; very big disappointment. But life goes on and so do our Disney trips right? We just have to find new places to love!

But I wish it would go back to the way it was anyway :(
This is such a great photo! :lovestruc
Thank you! Every once in awhile they do something nice for me!

This trip seems like a lifetime ago.
:rotfl: It was almost a friggin year ago! I will never let myself get this far behind on a report again it's pretty hard to remember crap at my age 👵 I'm getting on my July 4th TR asap!
I’m not a huge fan of BOG anymore either and I don’t see us returning either. But, I will say breakfast with you and Steve was lovely.❤
Yes it was 😘
How do you ruin filet mignon? It is usually the one guarantee of having a good entree.
Ugh who knows, it's super rare that I have a bad piece of filet. But it was not tender at all and had no taste to it sadly; previously it was melt in our mouth.
By the way, how did you like SSR? Did you have a deluxe studio?
We had a 1 bedroom! We did like the room, a lot actually. Lots of space, the boys did share the pullout but having our own bedroom is always a plus and the living area is roomy enough that the boys could spread out when not sleeping. We also really liked the QS there and ate there I think 3 or 4 times? Walking to DS is nice too although we only did it once.
However we're in no hurry to stay there again. It's big; too big for us as WL fans. For some reason we felt it was WAY too far out of the way to get food! I think because the only place to get it is in the QS area and it was almost a 15 minute walk for us. I know that doesn't sound horrible but when you're used to WL, BC, or AKL or even a moderate like FQ or CSR where we've always been near El Centro, it was far. So when the boys wanted something at 10:00 at night nobody wanted to walk there. We also just didn't get the "Disney" vibe so while there's nothing wrong with it per se it 's not for us :)
What a bummer meal at BoG! I have heard quite a few negative reviews with the menu changes!

The dessert are so darn cute!
They are! At least we ended with something good!

He should really learn to just power through. Vacations (and life) are for eating the good stuff :rotfl:
That's how I feel! Every time we're close to a vacation and I tell myself to watch what I eat so I can eat what I want when we're away - I just continue to eat what I want at home AND away lol!
That's a shame that you didn't really enjoy BOG! I wonder if they changed their menu after you went because our meal was really good in March! The bread was baguettes and our steaks were really good!
I'm glad you guys liked yours! Like I said we LOVED it on our like, 8 trips before the change. We didn't have baguettes but they'd been talking about changing the bread so you were lucky and went after they changed that at least! It's possible the filet just wasn't the same as before and that's what disappointed us but Chris is like a 13 year old filet connoisseur lol and he wouldn't finish his.
Oh I would have so devoured this. Chicken liver pate and chicken liver mousse are some of my favorite things on this planet.
Yeah you won't eat mushrooms but you'll eat a liver :scratchin and I'M the weird one????
Oh that is a big drop in quality. Poor Chris. You in Steve should try Jiko in August or September. My filet there was ah-maz-ing!!!!
I totally do want to go there now! If not August I think we'll definitely get there in Sept for sure
That really is too bad. How do you elevate yourself to signature status and then make the food go downhill???? I know you all have liked this but it really was a one and one for us and that was when it first opened!!!
I remember your dislike lol; but didn't the same thing happen with Le Cellier? I know the reviews aren't always bad but when they went to 2 credits people started saying the food wasn't as good and you do get more negative reviews for it than most other signatures. They should just up the prices and leave the food/status alone actually!
This may be one of my favorite picture of you all. I love how all of the boys are looking at you. Its evident who they did this picture for ♥
Enjoying your report, thank you!
:-) thank you for reading! Getting this one done slow and steady!
Congrats on the baby and the knee!

I'm sorry about your MIL. :(
Thank you on all points; so strange to go from such a high to a low so quickly but we're getting through, and back to focusing on the good
I love your lantern picture of your family!

It's a bummer that Be Our Guest has gotten so lackluster lately. I'm glad you liked the desserts since that's obviously the most important part of the meal.
I had wanted that pictures for awhile and was surprised the boys agreed! I'm happy with the way it came out. Dessert is often what I consider the most important and I can be happy with great apps and a great dessert, but when you are expecting an awesome entree too it's a real letdown!
