BW studio standard villa - farthest distance

We are thinking of renting a DVC BW standard studio, since the Dolphin has too high rates
Davids has a great rate of $180 a night for a standard studio at the BW DVC villas

If we get a standard room at the end of the building - how far is it to walk to the main building of the BW ?
IE - where the check-in is and gift shop
10 minutes ?
15 minutes ?
20 minutes ?

Thank you

It’s all one building. There is no “main” building. The walk can take 15-20 minutes, depending on whether you take the stairs or wait for an elevator.

BTW, just because David’s has great rates for a BWV standard studio, that doesn’t mean anything is available. When were you contemplating staying there?

The halls are long and standard views can be anywhere from right by the lobby area to as far away as it can get. Kidani has longer hallways though.

Still, the walk for me is maybe 5 minutes from the furthest room. There's no way I could come close to making it 15-20 minutes. It's similar to the time to get from the furthest room at BLT over to CR.

12-15 minutes is what it takes me to walk from the SSR Treehouses to the Carriage house. I've heard many people state the same thing for walking at OKW from the furthest buildings to the main building - approx 15 minutes. BWV is not as big as either of those walks.

We are going November 2020 - first time in the fall for us, just DH & DW,
We could do David's BW standard studio November 2019 - do the $150 and our request for it , 1 year in advance
Seems feasible ?
We will be able to do the Very Merry Christmas Party in November 2020 - never did ti.

We once stayed at the Dolphin at the end of the far wing with a view of Epcot fireworks - we had to walk to the elevators
about 10 minutes. It was fine.

Seems feasible ?

Likely not, actually.

That time of year, all of the BWV Standard Studios are typically gone at or before 8:01AM. Booking opens for owners at 8:00. Not every unit is available for every check in date.

Even requesting at 12 months, as a renter, it is unlikely they'll have someone hovering over the keyboard at 7:59AM of your check in date.

Your chances are far superior budgeting for BWV Pool/Garden.

Should we request the BW standard studio villa from Davids in October 2019 or September 2019 ?

ouch - standard is what we budget for at $200 or less per night
The standard BW studio from Davids says $180/night
Our other choice then is AKL - Jambo House standard studio DVC - for $216 per night.
The preferred room at the BW is $270 per night

It is what it is.

Everyone and their dog wants BWV Std. View studios for the same reason that you do - they’re cheap to book. But while a lot of owners will jump through hoops to get one for themselves or a family member, they’re not likely to do it for a renter.

To get what you want, for November, I would have to “walk” that reservation, a complicated process that can take weeks or even months to achieve the final reservation. David’s doesn’t line up owners to do a walk, which is why your chances are so slim. Even when renting points out privately, I won’t walk a reservation. Not when I can sleep in and book a G/P View studio for the same dates, more points (meaning more money for me) and a lot less hassle.

Won't help. They go by 8:01 all of fall. No agency will walk a reservation, and owners who book with agencies are not going to scramble for hard to get bookings when we can sleep in and just pick up a Garden View request.

It doesn't matter if you contact David 11 and a half, 12 or 13 months out. The owner can only book it at 11 months out. And those will go very quickly at 8AM ET. You need to budget for the preferred studio.

Early September isn’t usually AS BUSY as Oct-Dec but it is still going to be hard to snag a Standard view studio. If you me heart is really set in BWV your chances would be better then vs Oct-Dec
I’d still have a fall back location lined up

For the first two weeks of September you have a chance, obviously because of the unconfortable weater everyone avoids it, so you may want to avoid it too. Also, September requires fewer points, maybe you can squeeze in your budget a Boardwalk view, which is one of the best views at WDW.

I'm not certain how far in advance David's allows request to put in but I agree this is going to be a difficult reservation to get thru them. It's difficult for owners to book because as you've seen it is a good bargain of a room plus November is a very popular time with DVC owners. It doesn't hurt to put in but realistically you need to consider a different type of room.

So what if I ask David's
1st choice BWV standard studio
2nd choice AKLV Jambo house standard studio villa(since it has 2 sinks and a larger kitchenette than Kandi)

This why when David's try;s to get the BW standard studio and if no success( I hope a BWV studio is available)
then they can look for a AKLV Jambo house standard studio.

Sound like a plan ?

David doesn't book the stay. They just find an owner with the points you want. So if they don't get anyone with BW points, they might then try to find someone with AKV points. Or they find someone with non-home resort points to book it at seven months out. Plus they don't even know if the studio is available until they try to book it. They can tell a few days ahead of time if the studio might be open for booking, but until they try to book at 11 months out, they don't really know.

If they don't have anyone with BWV points at 11 months out, they might just skip your BW request and go to the AKV request instead.

I think that you should take a look at this thread and make your decision based on the data presented there. IMO, you don’t stand a snowball’s chance of getting a BWV Std View studio in November. The AKV-J Std View (NOT Value View) studio is a more realistic choice but you may have to settle for AKV-K Std View for the same price.

Sorry for repeating what everyone else said but 15-20 minutes??? What?

The lobby is < 700 ft from the furthest room which equates to 3 minutes. Add on 2 minutes to get downstairs. No more than 5 minutes.
