You had quite the trip, didn't you? June 2019 Completed 12/4! New TR Link 1/19!

I can't believe someone grabbed your bag like that! How rude! Some people...

But I love y'all's matching-ish outfits for DHS. Very cute!

Sounds like a pretty good day at work! :rotfl: It's great that you were able to spend time at your resort and enjoying the CL amenities!

Love your outfit that evening!

I wasn't sure either but I'm definitely more of an ask for forgiveness kind of person! lol and it didn't seem to be an issue! That's aweosme that you got upgraded! We loved the Chronos Club, did you guys??
It was actually at the Yacht Club, we switched over half way through the week. And we liked it, but I don't know if I would pay out of pocket for it. But who knows.

Three of the four were on sale for the end of season sale! And then I had a 20% off coupon so to me it was a no brainer! DH doesn't entirely agree though lol
Boys never do!

What I wish we had done was taken the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and had lunch at Geyser Point! You live and learn right??
Don't you hate that! When you think of a better plan AFTER the fact! We all do it.

Love it!

Have they done away with unique, themed beers in the lounges or is that dependent on the person who runs the CL? It’s not a deal breaker for us but Dan was looking forward to trying new beers or having ones that could remind him of this trip!
Hmmm, I can't remember what beer they had. Andy stuck with wine or whatever they were offereing. But I don't think there was anything special.

Plus, I wanted to use the Mickey-shaped sugar cubes! Lol
Gwen LOVED those!

She was a super awesome CM and gave us celebrating buttons for getting our APs. Definitely nice of her to take the time to do that!
That is something to celebrate!

The downside to extending our trip was that I was going to have to work from Disney that Friday but I can’t think of a better place to work from, can you!? I thought I might be exhausted after being up until 2 the night (or morning) before and then up again at 8:30 but something about being in Disney made me feel just fine! (Maybe I’m just used to no sleep in Disney! LOL)
Who needs sleep in Disney??
Once we both got ready for the day we made our way down to the lounge to grab some breakfast. If I was going to be stuck in my room, I was at least going to have some yummy breakfast!
Perfect way to start the day!
I mean, its definitely the best view I've ever had whilst working!
It is stunning!
Around lunchtime, we decided to make our way down to Contempo Café to find something for lunch. Dan asked me if there were any other options to eat at and for some reason I was only think Magic Kingdom quick services and then things on the monorail line. Since I get an hour lunch we had some time but not THAT much time so I figured this would be a good time to explore the resort, check out the shops and just eat at Contempo Café. What I wish we had done was taken the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and had lunch at Geyser Point! You live and learn right??
Geyser Point would be good but it might be tight with the boats, walking over, ordering, eating, walking back to the dock and getting another boat. Contempo was probably the smartest choice. :)
After we finished lunch, we explored the shops and then decided to go walk around outside and take some pictures. I knew I wanted to recreate my parents old photo that they took on their honeymoon 30 years ago in 1989.
These are great pics!
The one thing we noticed with both the Contemporary and Grand Floridian lounges was that neither had any unique beers. When we were given CL access at the Wilderness Lodge, they had at least two if not three unique Northwestern beers. Dan will often get them at home now to give him that Disney feel. But CR and GF just had normal beers (bud light and Summer Shandys I think?). Have they done away with unique, themed beers in the lounges or is that dependent on the person who runs the CL? It’s not a deal breaker for us but Dan was looking forward to trying new beers or having ones that could remind him of this trip!
That's too bad! It's nice to have a range of beer.
While I was working, I also was checking for Slinky Dog fastpasses. Multitasking at its finest folks! lol I hadn’t been able to snag one from 60 days out or even just my random checks leading up to this trip but I was hoping with either FP refresh or same day drops I could find something! And wouldn’t you know I managed to snag one for 4:30-5:30! Which lined up perfectly with the Rock n Rollercoaster FP we had at 5:35! I was so happy!! I was a bit worried on timing with work but I was hopeful we would make it on time.
That's awesome!
The CM asked us if we were celebrating anything and we told her we were celebrating becoming annual passholders!
What better reason to celebrate!

Who would mind working with a view like that!?

Your recreation of your parents' photo is really cute. I'm sure they loved it.

Your outfit is adorable, as usual, but talk to me about those cute shoes you're wearing! Love those and they look comfy.

Always the right choice to go to Geyser Point or even Territory Lounge!!! I wasn't impressed with Contempo Cafe in July but the kids had lots of food from there and thought it was great. However it doesn't take much to impress teen boys food-wise lol.

Sounds like a pretty good day at work! :rotfl: It's great that you were able to spend time at your resort and enjoying the CL amenities!

I always have a hard time slowing down in Disney so it was really nice to be forced to!

Love your outfit that evening!

Thank you!!

It was actually at the Yacht Club, we switched over half way through the week. And we liked it, but I don't know if I would pay out of pocket for it. But who knows.

Oh gotcha!! I forgot you were moving over there. I haven't been able to do theirs yet! It's one of those things that if you can get a deal on like we did this trip it can be worth it but sometimes the CL costs are astronomical! For CR we paid about $100 more a night and I think for GF it was like $20 more than theme park view so it was a good value!

Don't you hate that! When you think of a better plan AFTER the fact! We all do it.

Yes!! Especially since Geyser Point is one of our faves!!

Hmmm, I can't remember what beer they had. Andy stuck with wine or whatever they were offereing. But I don't think there was anything special.

Interesting!!

Gwen LOVED those!

The cutest!

That is something to celebrate!

Definitely!!

Great workday! You can't beat the view!!! :smooth:

No you cannot!!

Who needs sleep in Disney??

Right?? haha

Perfect way to start the day!

Definitely!

Geyser Point would be good but it might be tight with the boats, walking over, ordering, eating, walking back to the dock and getting another boat. Contempo was probably the smartest choice. :)

True! I'm sure that's probably why I didn't consider it when planning haha but after those greasy grilled cheeses I was definitely wishing we had time for something else!

These are great pics!

Thanks!

That's too bad! It's nice to have a range of beer.

Yeah, we were definitely surprised that the Grand Floridian at least didn't have local Florida beers on hand!

What better reason to celebrate!

Exactly!

Who would mind working with a view like that!?

It was definitely awesome!

Your recreation of your parents' photo is really cute. I'm sure they loved it.

They did!

Your outfit is adorable, as usual, but talk to me about those cute shoes you're wearing! Love those and they look comfy.

They are from Aldo! And they were super comfy!

Always the right choice to go to Geyser Point or even Territory Lounge!!! I wasn't impressed with Contempo Cafe in July but the kids had lots of food from there and thought it was great. However it doesn't take much to impress teen boys food-wise lol.

Yeah I was definitely surprised by the items they had! Definitely isn't top on my list lol but like you said, teenage boys will eat just about anything!!

The Villians AH event looks like such a good time! That was so weird about the lady grabbing your bag and I think your reaction is totally normal.

I could think of worse place to telework from! What a great day to enjoy all your CL amenities and the resort. Geyser Point would have been a fun choice for lunch - something to keep in mind next time ;)

DH on the other hand was feeling the tiredness lol

Ah yes, the two moods of being at Walt Disney World Resort

Plus, when you are paying more for a room it’s nice to actually enjoy the resorts amenities!

MTE. The parks are the priority, but it's nice to slow down and enjoy the resort, especially on the monorail line!

What I wish we had done was taken the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and had lunch at Geyser Point!

We are dying to eat a meal here!!

These are SO cute!!!

I'm pretty sure all of the offerings vary by resort, which could mean some unique substitutions for things you see elsewhere. Did you notice any type of special wines while you were at the CR CL? Since the CR has California Grill, I can imagine the wine offerings would be a step above what you'd find elsewhere, but the beer would be standard.

And wouldn’t you know I managed to snag one for 4:30-5:30! Which lined up perfectly with the Rock n Rollercoaster FP we had at 5:35! I was so happy!!

WOOOOOOOOO

Well not so fast, we did have time to get evidence of my Mickey themed outfit! haha

This is SO cute!!!

I can't wait to hear more about DHS!!!

Yep! haha

Definitely!! I normally have a hard time doing that but having to work forced my hand! haha

Definitely try it sometime! It's one of our favorite spots in Disney!

I think it had a couple of wines but no more than any other CL we've done. I think WL had specific wines too and the beers so it was definitely weird to just have two options. BUT I have a theory that the fancier the resort that has the CL the fancier drinks they have haha

WOOOOOOOOO

Such a win!

This is SO cute!!!

Thanks!!

Love the picture of your parents and your recreation . Also, nice snag of a FP!!!

I think you planned having to work on vacation perfectly. There's really no better time to stay at a deluxe than when you are going to be spending a good amount of time there. The resort is practically an experience in and of itself. And having those club level snacks sounded like it was perfect. Even though there was no unique beers for Dan to try. I wonder why that is...

Nice job getting a SDD FP for that evening! That's awesome.

Thanks! I was super excited to snag one. DH commented later that it was so easy for us to get one lol I think hes starting to take my planning abilities for granted!

If you have to work in Disney, that's the way to do it!

Great score on the Slinky FP!

Right?? And thanks!

It definitely wasn't bad at all! And we were pretty tired from our long first day so being forced to chill in the AC and just have a slow moving morning/afternoon really helped us have a great rest of our trip! Yeah it was definitely strange the limited beer they had! But he still made do! lol

Thanks!! I was so happy, and it fit perfectly in with our plans so it was awesome!

Day 2 Part 2 Friday June 14th

We were so ready for a fun night in Hollywood Studios!

We were heading to TSL first to use our SDD fastpass and of course, SDD was down lol but I checked the app and we already had an anytime fastpass to use so I wasn’t worried. We’d get there eventually!

Since we were in Toy Story Land we decided to stop at Woody’s Lunchbox to grab a couple of drinks in hopes that SDD would be back up by the time we were done!

We mobile ordered Dan a Bud Light and me a Grown Up Lemonade, definitely one of my favorite drinks to get!

It seemed like it might start raining while we were enjoying our drinks but it sprinkled for a minute and then stopped. By the time we were done with our drinks, Slinky Dog was back up! I was prepared for a long FP line with it being down but we had no wait at all!

Pretty much back row!

It was such a fun ride! I should probably let Dan have the inside seat at some point but I haven’t yet haha

Once we were off the ride we made our way over to Rock N Rollercoaster to use our next fastpass. We stopped for some photopass photos along the way. First, pics with the Toy Story Land sign! I can’t wait for them to open the new restaurant here – should be fun!

Then we had to get pictures with the logo arch! I love having pictures with things that change in Disney, although I feel like they announced the new sign ages ago and still haven't changed it. I wonder what the hold up is?

[
Mickey pose!

And of course, Tower of Terror!

My cute purse broke after these pictures! But at least I’d already gotten my photos haha

After all of our photos it was time for Rock N Rollercoaster!

We had a fun ride getting to Aerosmith’s concert!

Since we were in the area I wanted to check out the Radiator Racers area, it had opnened after my June trip and I hadn't seen it in person yet!

Unfortunately the show was down but we did get some pictures with Cruz Ramirez!

Definitely a cool vantage point to Tower of Terror from the area but overall, as a solution to bring Cars to DHS it felt a bit lackluster. I cannot WAIT to see Carsland in DCA in November!

Next up was our FP for TOT!

Definitely a fun ride! We were lucky and got called up to fill a 2 spot (I LOVE when that happens lol I listen like a hawk for them!) Although I did find it weird that they called for a party of two and there were three or four empty seats next to us lol must have been broken seat belts or something!

I’m not sure when I was able to get the fourth fastpass but I did snag one for Toy Story Mania for about an hour later so we decided to head over to Baseline Taphouse to grab some drinks and a snack in the mean time. Dan loves to get the beer flights here since they are fairly inexpensive and we love the cheese plate! Another inexpensive snack! I wasn’t planning on getting a drink but Dan convinced me and I’m glad I did. I went with my favorite California Sunset and it didn’t disappoint. I hope that when SWGE opens Baseline doesn’t become a madhouse but I’m sure it will! Either way, I’m glad we got to go and enjoy some time there before the craziness starts!

Speaking of - the calm before the storm (although it hasn't actually been that busy lol result of hurricane? General low September crowds? Well managed crowds by Disney??)

We made our way over to Baseline and I was completely on the fence about what to get. I was mostly hesitant to get the cheese plate since we would be having dinner later that night but the snack certainly hit the spot and I mean, who doesn’t love cheese? I know I do!

We were also really trying to figure out the group behind us because they definitely looked like off duty cast members or important SWGE people. But unfortunately, no secrets were bestowed upon us!

Eventually, it was time for Toy Story Mania and I was excited! I love me some Toy Story Mania, especially because Dan is truly terrible at it (and he’s the gamer!)

I even told him the volcano trick and he still failed! Lol He actually gave us at some point because he just knew he wasn’t going to win haha sore loser! Not my best score but better than Dan! Lol

We did take a look through the new giftshop off of Toy Story Mania but didn’t find anything we really wanted. I did almost purchase a Hamm stuffed animal though because it was so soft and cuddly and reminded me of Joy! Lol but I was good and didn’t get it (although I kinda regret it!)

We noticed Alien Swirling Saucers had a super short wait after Toy Story mania so we made our way there next.

Not a ride I would wait forever for but for a short wait its definitely fun!

Day 2 Part 3 Friday June 14th

We didn't realize the time and realized we were really cutting ourselves short on time for our dinner reservation so we called for an uber and made our way out of the park!

We did stop for a photopass on our way out though, and ended up with the same CM from our AP pictures haha I think she remembered us!

Using Uber was super easy and leaving DHS there was a very short walk to the ride share spot. 10/10 would recommend lol I will say though, there were some pricing differences between lyft and uber so if you have a second I would recommend checking both apps to see which has the cheaper option! I also have a Discover credit card and for the month of June I received 5% back on ubers and lyfts so that was a nice bonus!

We were having dinner at California Grill this evening so while we were running short on time I knew it would be quick for us to change in the room and make it to dinner. Very convenient!

We were a few minutes late to check in but nothing crazy!

We were seated at one of the tables closer to the Magic Kingdom which was nice because we usually get seated on the other side of the restaurant. However, the two-top tables were SO close to the tables next to us. It was a bit uncomfortable to be that close to other tables, I didn’t realize that California Grill did that so was a bit disappointing. But I was still at my favorite restaurant though, so I was happy!

And so was Dan!

Other than the tables being close though, we had a wonderful dinner. Being on the deluxe dining plan we started with appetizers, Dan ordered the Spicy Kazan sushi and I ordered the goat cheese ravioli. We normally order things to split but I wasn’t really in the mood for sushi so I left that for Dan and he left me with my ravioli.

For dinner, I ordered the filet, which I had in December and was AMAZING. It was just as good this time! Since the Kansas City for $75 steak was included on the meal plan, Dan went with that. He said it was just okay, I’m sure knowing it was a $75 steak set his expectations a bit high or he just isn’t a fan of Kansas City-style rubs. Either way, he was glad he didn’t pay outright for it! Lol

For dessert, we were pretty full at this point so instead of getting two chocolate cakes we figured we’d get one and then something light like the sorbet. Well, the chocolate cake was AMAZING. We definitely should have ordered one each. The sorbet was interesting. It was definitely light but the mango foam was tang-y! I tried it first and was taken a bit aback and then Dan tried it and made a noise I’ve never heard before lol we had quite a laugh!

For those of you who do the dining plan - do you ever pass on something thats included with your meal?? I'm not a huge dessert person so I was usually way too full to eat them but I felt bad saying no. You don't HAVE to get the dessert do you?

Even though there were no fireworks to see we still took a minute to go out on the patios to look out towards the Magic Kingdom.

Overall, it was a great dinner at our favorite restaurant. I mean you just can't beat the atmosphere and view there!

It was so nice to just hop on the elevator and make it back to our room. We did attempt to have the elevator stop on our floor rather than going down to 2 and back up to 12 and it worked!

When we got back to our room they have done turn down service on the room which was a nice surprise.

Does anyone know why turndown service includes them putting the pillows the wrong way? Are they just fluffled? Lol I always wondered that! Google didn’t really explain why either!

Overall, even with having to work from Disney we still had an awesome day!
