I think the addition of another worthy top tier FP (Frozen) and the addition of the third theater really helped with this one in a major way.
And also... the novelty wore off. I remember reading that Soarin' was the best ride in all of Disney. And perhaps it was for a while.
But newer things come along and the same crowd that was lined up for Soarin', then lined up for Frozen... then 7DMT... then SDD.... FoP… SWGE... you get the idea.
I only admit I'm wrong when I'm proven wrong!
Attaboy.
For some reason, I doubt they have a standard operating procedure for this. Probably the bus driver making it up on the fly.
Probably. I've
never heard of that!
DW always complains about the amount of walking in that park to get from place to place
It's a big park...
MK 43 ha
DHS 55 ha
Epcot 121 ha
AK 235 ha
In order for this to work, we’d need to get to AK early, brave the rush to FoP and then change that FP to Na’vi River Journey or try to do it standby while we’re there. Easy peasy.
Oh sure... what could possibly go wrong????
Some of us were up and ready in time. The other one was ready at about 8:20.
I was already anxious and a bit frustrated because we were running so late so I wasn’t in the best mood.
Yeah, I can see that. Were you stamping your foot and pointedly looking at your watch/phone?
I had to lock up my brakes just to keep from running over her.
Some people are oblivious.
Instead, she stood right in front of me and gave me the death stare.
"Ma'am, would you mind looking indignant off to the side?"
I looked at the CM in front of my car who was still standing there waving at me to pull forward. I pointed at this lady standing in front of me leaving me unable to do as he asked.
He just shrugged and moved on to the next car.
I'm not really surprised. There are
lots of cars coming in. If he stays at one due to a relatively minor issue (maybe not to you, but in the grand scheme of things), then
all the vehicles behind you will begin to pile up.
So would I. "Move your asthma!"
I was getting the stroller set up and putting R in when someone walked up to me and asked if I knew the people in that van.
"Oh, I know them. Or at least that type. Inconsiderate morons..."
But no... he was concerned because the van was still running.
Perfect!!!
As soon as he told me that, I started laughing.
I would've too! I mean... it's just so perfect!
I assumed it was one of the systems where you can start the van with the key in your pocket and I figured that once they got far enough away it would shut off anyway.
Oh, I hope not. I hope they came back, very, very late and
extremely tired... and had to call for some gas... and then ran out before they got to a gas station.
After that fun, we headed up to the parking tram for a fun ride to AK. The CM on the PA system was actually trying to be engaging and entertaining. I almost wondered if she had been a JC Skipper at some point in time, but after the parking lot experience it was nice to kind of relieve some of the tension and smile a little bit.
I can almost
feel your shoulders going down...
The CM holding the sign for the end of the line to FoP was somewhere between Asia and DInoland.
I'm not entirely sure if you're kidding or not.
Instead, we decided we’d just go to Na’vi River Journey (AKA It’s a Small Moon) and we’d be in AK until later in the afternoon to use that FP.
The posted wait was 45 minutes.
Right now (see above comment re Soarin'...) that's about as good as it gets for that ride.
The last truck had just been filled and she asked the kids where they wanted to sit. So we got a front row seat.
Nice!
but you’ve all seen the giraffes, elephants and animatronic sleeping lions anyway.
Many,
many times.
We stopped by Starbucks (not my choice).
Dude! Kusafiri was
right there!
Starbucks gave her their big cups full of ice water. This was our find of the week and Starbucks became the place we’d look for when we needed ice water.*
*only if the line wasn’t stupid long, which it usually was.
Good tip!
I
rarely drink "just" water, but if I do...
He was still cranky and throwing a fit. The CM at the register was getting ready to check me out when another CM named Tony walked up and told her to stop. He grabbed a bar out of the cooler and walked around to the stroller. He kneeled down to R and started talking to him. He told him that he had a gift for him from Mickey and handed him the bar. R went from whining and crying to smiling almost instantly
Disney magic! You got some! You sure needed it this day.
It was lunch time and we wanted some Flame Tree. The kids wanted fries and B was in a mood that we knew that she wasn’t going to eat something else. With the heat and everything else, we knew we had to get something she’d eat or the afternoon would be a disaster. I knew Flametree had fries on the menu as a snack, but mobile ordering wouldn’t let me switch them as a side option. We decided to head over and ask about it, because DW mentioned she'd rather have fries than the listed sides too and all that fries talk was starting to make me crave them too.
Sheesh... it's 4:45am and now
I'm craving fries!
We asked the CM out front handing out menus if we could substitute fries for the sides listed with the meals on the menu. She told us we could do that, so we got in what was a fairly long line. I didn’t time it, but we were there a while. When we finally got to the register, I ordered the first meal and asked to substitute fries for the sides. The CM at the register informed me that they can’t do that.
D'oh!
This is a theory of mine. Since CMs are prevented from saying "I don't know", I think some just say what they
think is right, because it's easier to give out potentially incorrect (but hopefully correct) information than to physically go and find out the right answer.
I’d asked out front, I’d waited in the line, and then was told the answer I got out front was wrong and I was out of luck.
uh, oh...
I was mad. Again, it wasn’t the smoothest morning.
Maybe after some fries and getting off our feet in the AC, everyone would be in a better mood.
Gawd, I hope so. It's been a pretty rough one so far.
