Dh’s family has 8 kids. They had 3 bedrooms and an attic. At one point his dad had to make a triple bunk bed lol. Oh and they had one bathroom
maybe that's why I've never wanted larger....I grew up with 7 kids/one bathroom.... 3 boys to a bedroom etc. And yes, the one tiny room was dibs for the oldest child to get alone space lol.good times. Now that I'm older I LOVE having that many bros and sis to hang with. And our small home now has 1 1/2 baths (woohoo)

The really frustrating part is the time restriction. As an example...now if you get a rider swap at FoP or SM or Soarin early in the AM you have to use it right away. Our old touring strategies would have been to hold on to the swap to use during the busiest time of day (i.e. between 11:30 and 3:30) and move on with our morning while lines are shorts. I specifically cite those rides because the experience length can be enormous even with a FP (or RS). It easily can eat up 25-45 minutes of your day during PRIME TIME low lines. It's terrible...they really should have stuck with the rest of the day.
on our last big fam trip,we were able to do Rider Swap the 'old school' way...... 17 of us ,4 young kids,it was a glorious time! We used the #@%&^ out of that RS esp. On FoP etc. It was right after that trip that they changed it. I had the rotating groups of 'families' all planned out to maximize the baby to adult ratio....oh it was a beautiful thing. RIP beautiful rider swap. This was back when we could return later at night to use them....

Did you try to chat with Amex to see if they’d credit it for the right month?
I did...they pretty much told me that it wasn't so much when the transaction happened, but when the credit posted would be used to determine the month that it was applied to. I left it alone and moved on. I wonder if I would have got a different answer from another CSR.

Regarding Happy Guy gift cards - I see 'Happy Holidays' Happy card includes Lowes - has anyone bought a Disney gift card with this gift card at Lowes?

The Happy card promo on Amex is about to expire 12/7 so I'm looking for options. I have quite a few Home Depot cards, Happy and otherwise. Lowes is my closest store and my go to store for quick home improvements. So, if the card did not provide the ability to buy a Disney gc, it is useable as is and has food options nearby to me as well, Chili's, Red Lobster, and for @Alexle2007 - PF Changs!

The home depot happy guy card has McCormick and Schmicks, (hey - would this card work 'as is' at the Disney options such as Rainforest, Yak n Yeti?) Burger King which I dislike, and Buffalo Wild Wings, which doesn't attract my business either.

I dunno - I have 2 offers - maybe I'll buy one of each!

My family was the opposite. It was just my brother and I. Our house had 4 bathrooms and 3 floors. Dh and I agreed that we only want two kids unless we get unlucky the next time and have triplets or something lol (he has triplets siblings but it should skip the next generation).

Ick I’m seeing rain for next weekend when we’re supposed to be at Disney. It’s only 40% chances but I sure hope those go away

I also totally forgot friends is coming off Netflix in like a month and I’ll have no other way to watch it 😭 All of the seasons on Walmart are $107 and that’s too much for me to spend

Successful reports on the GC thread for the Happy Holidays at Lowe's.
I assume the McCormick and Schmidt will work at Disney since the regular GCs are interchangeable. Reports from before that the BuyBuyBaby ones worked at BedBath and Beyond. Same concept for M&S so worth a shot.

this is interesting..... 19 years ago we bought our 1324 sf home...and never felt crowded with 4 of us living here and a steady stream of guests in and out..... my DH always wanted to add on etc but I never wanted bigger (I have to clean the place! :rotfl: ) Now that the kids are grown, it feels huge! (except when all 16 of my family come over for dinner at once:love:) And on the topic of singing, I always sing to my house that it's a "very very fine house, with 2 cats in the yard..." I have a huge yard/woods surrounding my house, which is what I wanted, small house, lots of our own space around it.

It must be laid out really well, because I've got just a little bit bigger, just under 1400, plus partially finished basement not included in that and mine is small to me. But I guess it is also perception - all my friends or should I say a lot of them, plus family, have the McMansions. Another thing, I love my street and most of my neighbors, which makes a huge difference. One of our neighbors downsized back to the home next door, after living in the big house for 20 years or so, and it was neighbors, as well as layout of their home that brought them back. Daughter says she will return to her first house which is 2 doors away, but I remind her that it won't be the same in 20 years - they probably will have me in a nursing home at 87, lol. It's definitely too small for her now.

Thanks so much! I was looking at it but almost kicked it to the curb.

And this old 'when the credit posted' thing bugs me. I see stuff pending for days and days sometimes, and then it posts on the correct day of purchase. So, why it wouldn't resolve itself back to the 29th is strange to me. I know someone will come along and say something like 'they didn't get it from the merchant', but seems to me this stuff is electronic. I would think the merchant would not hold up their own sales credits.

I'd call again.

Which reminds me I need to go do my offer asap, otherwise I'll go through the Chik fil a line and it will credit on that when I don't want it to. I want to do a Chik Fil A with the kids and daughter and get the other Grub Hub credit that way spend 25 get 5.

It’s been too cold here the last couple days. I’ve been wearing a jacket and pants lol. Our heat is on right now. Rain for the Christmas party would stink and if we’re walking around Epcot

Hopefully the weather improves for you and @wendow ! The worst trip I ever had was in early December - cold, rain and crowded. However I did many Xmas to New years trips that were fine.

Our FL house is very large -- 5 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms. For 2.25 people (dh is only here 1 maybe 2 nights a week). However I love the layout -- everyone has their own areas and the kitchen is huge. It's what I'd call semi-open in that you can see all living areas from the kitchen / family room, but there are some partial walls for separation. My den is nice and cozy and has pocket doors so I can close them when dd is studying upstairs in her loft (there is an upstairs with only 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft area that is partially open to the 2 story living room). The main issue with the house is the climate here is harsh and when things break it costs a fortune to either repair or replace. The other issue is we are on a cul de sac, which is great for young families, but means we have a huge backyard (great for privacy), but it's huge and so many palm trees and gardens that require constant upkeep. Then there is the pond behind that attracts all kinds of critters (think rats, snakes, massive iguanas, poisonous toads) -- it's just not for me. The one redeeming factor of the house is that I don't have to go upstairs since the master is downstairs -- I wouldn't have liked the layout when dd was young, but I really like having all the living areas on one level. I grew up with 2 siblings and 1 full bathroom (which was awful because my sister was a bathroom hog) and a half bathroom (shared a room with my sister until we were teenagers).

I'd love to move to a smaller house with the same layout. I don't like just one big open room as the "living area". I want my den and living and dining rooms with a bit of separation (dh is VERY loud and I need some quite space). I found a gorgeous townhouse that is a new build with a perfect layout (2,500 square feet), but I have become spoiled and didn't like the floor oven (love my double wall ovens) and the fridge was small (love my 48" built-in -- don't judge, we eat all fresh / organic food and I like to be able to see everything). Plus I'm not sure where we would park our vehicles with just a 2 car garage (dh loves cars). Then there is also the noise factor that worries me in a townhouse (never lived in attached home before and not sure if I would like being that close to my neighbors).

Toronto house is also too big, but I LOVE that house and will have to be dragged out kicking and screaming; it's my "home". Plus it's right in the city with the perfect sized lot and a nice vegetable garden. It's funny because I think dh would consider selling the Toronto house and moving further from the city, but I couldn't live in the suburbs -- I'm a city person.

Late to the party, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mary Poppins!!! One of my favorites. My dd and I are also huge musical people, she has performed in many and we are season ticket holders to our local Broadway season. Showtunes are a way of life around here LOL.

Our one and only December trip was also cold and after that, I said no more ‘winter’ trips. I’ll take heat any day over cold. We’ve loved our early Sept trips. This year we were forced to go in Aug and that was either surface of the sun hot or drenching rains :crazy2:

I've had the dining credit post twice in a calendar month a time or too, so I think the CSR didn't know the facts:
456719

I haven't tried ordering on the last day of the month and again during the following month. The closest I ever got to that was an order placed on Oct. 30, posted to Amex on Oct. 31, received the credit in November, made another order in mid-November and received another credit in November. @wendow I can't promise you'd get the credit but I kind of think you would. Wanna be a dp?

My situation is I purchased on nov 29 and the charge posted on dec 1. I haven’t seen the dining credit at all yet. I was waiting for that before I chat with Amex but I’ll definitely be contacting them and I’ll update.
