I have BG 84 and I already have a fastpass loaded on my account for tomorrow (RoR is shown as eligible). Does anyone know how I use it? Can I just show up whenever tomorrow?
Glad to hear it was preloaded on. Hope you have a great time tomorrow on it and it doesn't effect your days plans.

Disneyland is now serving a higher boarding group number than Disneyworld. So at least Disneyland is having a better start. Knock on wood.

And DL started several hours later! Hopefully they will both be sharing learnings and overall efficiency will improve at both parks. Friendly competition between the two teams.

I take it if you don’t have a park ticket the next day you are out of luck as far as fast passes? My boys could only go one day and have group 75 today :(

I would think the knowledge base of how to operate the attraction is split today, giving some priority to California. It will be interesting to see how California performs given that it should have opened first, but that was switched up when early problems were found.

Those with regular boarding groups have in the past received one day DHS tickets plus FP so if they have the time to go tomorrow it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Agree on that but tapping into DHS and then going back to your hotel I would expect to be fine. Once you tap into another park I'd expect all bets are off.

I'd expect all bets to be off the minute you set foot outside of the park with your band. That device knows your location at all times, and we all probably clicked our privacy rights away somewhere along the lines for the magic band.

Since they are in the regular boarding group they might automatically receive a one day ticket to HS as well as a fastpass for the next day. (That has been reported for the few other days where they did not get through all the regular BGs). If they don’t, have them go to guest relations and explain their situation. It is very likely they will be given a comp ticket.

Tomorrow in the wee hours is my flight to Orlando! I just want to say a big THANK YOU! to everyone on this board. For the information and the company! I feel I'm as ready as i can be - baring some jedi ghost helping me (which I'd welcome). I may be able to check in for final tips etc tomorrow but HS is on Sunday and I'm nervous, but I've done everything I can. I'll report back the details for sure - pay it forward right :) And I might see some of you there too. Bright suns y'all.
:-)

Magickband does not have a GPS type chip in it.

There is a transmitter but it is only for "extras" like photopass things and the battery for that can die and all the essential functions of the magicband still work. So to try to use that to drop people if they walk out of the park would not be 100% effecrtive and if you only block out some peope and not all is it worth doing?

Just don't see anything like that being implemtned.

This is not true. Magic bands do not have GPS trackers, the second version does have a short range RFID(used for ride photos) which is not the same as GPS. There is no way Disney knows when you exit a park as you don’t scan out. This is why they have CMs using handheld “click” counters at exits to be able to calculate attendance each hour.

secondly, there are several reports of people who have exited the park and then joined a BG while back on the bus, hotel room, etc.

IOh, and I've been a professional application developer for over 30 years. :) I think I have an idea of what it would take.

Unless you have mobile app experience, I wouldn’t be so sure. Here are some of the issues off the top of my head:
  • Location services are off
  • Location services aren’t granted to the app
  • Location services are disabled via MDM
  • Devices without GPS
  • Accurate location can take several minutes to achieve, especially if the user has turned off WiFi
  • Jail broken or rooted devices could easily bypass
I only respond to this because I continue to see folks questioning whether folks can get BG’s from outside the park. Every experiment has shown you can and there is no reason to believe they would ever change it.

That's actually the long range RF, which requires a battery to power the transmitter. We don't know everywhere Disney has installed receivers for the long range RF. They could be tracking us anywhere on property.

The tap function is short range RF, and does not require a battery. The plastic cards don't have a battery, so they only work at tap points, as do MB's whose battery has died.
