Im curious how long it takes you to get on and off MMRR.
We got in the line around 7:28a and the ride had not opened yet (line was already super long); ride opened at 8a so we started moving pretty quickly in line. We were inside the theater in line around 8:53a and to the pre-show of the ride by 9:05am. All in all, not too bad. If you have an early BG for RotR with an hour return time, may not be able to do standby for MMRR
(Edited to add there is more line after the pre-show but it moved fast and I am was on the ride at 9:14am and off at 9:20am. IMO this ride is not worth the wait and my daughter agrees)

Talk to me about force closing.

I’m on iPhone 7. When I start the app after a long time being closed, it takes at least 20 seconds to go through the fireworks.

When I’ve opened the app recently and use the home button to close, the app opens quickly right back to where I was. It does not go through fireworks.

This means that if something is glitching, it usually takes me back to the glitch. This morning it was spinning and spinning when trying to find my friends list, and going out and coming back took me to the same place, not back to the app opening screen.

So how do I “hard” close it?

It was glitchy today when I was giving DH a tutorial so he can try remotely when I’m in the park. Later, I was going for more practice around 8:15, and the app was completely frozen. Did not fully load and could not access any functions, not just BGs. I even powered down my whole phone and restarted it, and the app was still frozen.

I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and it’s working again. Obviously I won’t be able to do this while at DHS and still get a good BG.

Advice from a tech savvy Dis-er?
On iPhone 7, double-tap the home button to bring up "thumbnails" of all your open apps. Swiping them up will completely close them. Otherwise, you're just "minimizing" them when you "close" an app. Even though you can't see them, they're still running in the background.

It's encouraging that backup BGs are still available after 9am today, but I also realize that I should expect it to go back to everything being gone in a minute or so when we're there (March 15-22) due to Spring Break crowds picking up.

We're planning our trip for May, and we've been going back and forth on whether or not we should start an extra one of our days (5 total) at DHS just in case we don't get a BG. Our officially planned DHS day is the last day of our trip. We were considering starting at DHS on our Epcot day, which would definitely give us an extra chance at a BG. My only fear is that if we do get a BG on our Epcot day, we'll have to be "on call" at Epcot all day. I also don't want that repeated travel time to take away from us being able to enjoy Epcot. Is it too risky to just stick to ONE DHS day?
Getting from EPCOT to HS on the Skyliners is pretty reliable and quick these days if you’re in World Showcase (I’d say reliably 30 mins total), and you always walk, too! If RotR is a priority, I think it would actually take some pressure off the rest of your trip if you got RotR early! Then the legit HS day RotR would be a bonus. Guest Relations and CMs are accommodating if you HAVE a bg and your timing is a little off. The biggest concern would probably be: if you got a low numbered group, you might need to simply hang around HS before even heading to EPCOT.

They are prepared to leave the line for MMRR if necessary. Rise is the goal today!

And obviously history might not repeat itself but from following reports from the past few days it seems like the wait time for MMRR is often overstated.

Again, no guarantee same thing today but probably at least worth waiting a bit to see how it is moving and then if need to bail ... Also if they feel they have to, explain to a CM there why you need to get our of line, might give you a return FP (obviously no guarantee but doesn't hurt to ask)

Am I correct in assuming if not everyone shows up in your list, to just go ahead and get your boarding group and then head to a GET cast member? I’ve been practicing for awhile, and just encountered this for the first time. We’ll be there in a week and it’s just my daughter and I.

Yes - that is the recommended strategy. Join who you can and then go to a GET station for assistance.

Our spring break trip is coming up at the end of March. We haven't been in the parks since 2017, and we are really looking forward to visiting SWGE! Of course, we'd love to snag a BG for RotR. I've seen conflicting advice and I'm wondering what folks have had the best experience with...

I've seen advice that recommends that everyone in our group (DH, DS18 and DS 15, plus me) try for a BG at the same time as one out of the four of us are likely to be successful. I've also seen advice that says just one person in our party should try for a BG because if more than one in the group tries, we are likely to get an error message. What is truly the best way to go? FWIW, our family has just one MDE account...mine. My boys and hubby just use mine...no one else in our family has their own.

Any advice about one vs four trying for a BG would be awesome. Thank you!

I never knew about that feature.
Turns out I had a crap ton of apps running in the background. No wonder my battery life has been terrible lately!

I practice most days M-F when I'm going to work. I've had a few times where one to several F&F were missing. I already know to get a BG without them and then go to GET to fix it. However if this actually happens on our trip, can I wait until after we RD our ride? Does everyone in the group need to go to GET or can I just bring their MBs?

BTW almost every time this happens, the missing folks show back up after a couple of rounds of joining the boarding group.

Many people don't realize this and have LOTS of apps running all the time and don't realize it because hitting the home button once makes them go away, but they're only hidden, not actually closed.

Data or WiFi.
Practice or not to practice
Open the app early or 2 minutes before.
Where do I stand?
What phone is best?

IMHO none of this matter is just the luck of the draw. ( Reference Bonnie Raitt).
