Undercover Tourist ticket question

We plan to go in June and have purchased 8 day tickets from UT. We purchased our tickets before the Corona scare was so rampant, but we are still in our 90 day refund window.

The tickets that we bought have a date range. My question is that in the event we cannot go during that date range, will Disney work with you on more tickets even though they were purchased through UT?

I am 99% sure we are going but just trying to get everything lined up just in case.

Thanks!

Regular unused tickets always retain a value that can be used as a credit towards a future ticket purchase regardless of where purchased. Usually you can change the date within MDE, but occasionally people have needed to call. Once the ticket expires you probably need to call, but the credit is still there (sometimes only visible on WDW's end).

Enjoy your vacation!

UT tickets ARE Disney tickets, they are just bought in wholesale bulk and resold. What gets tricky is what the dollar value of those tickets are - if they were minted before the last price hike, then their dollar value is lower when being applied to new tickets/new dates. If you change your dates and the new dates are more expensive (gotta love date based pricing) you will pay the difference between the dollar value of your ticket and the cost of the new dates. If the new dates are lower you don't get a refund no matter where you bought them.

One last question - if I link them to MDE and do fast passes at our 60 day window, then this doesn’t constitute use does it? Use is when you actually admit to the park right?

Correct - BUT when purchasing from UT, E-tickets are nonrefundable, and IIRC hard tickets that have been added to MDE are also nonrefundable (if you have hard tickets, I would clarify this with UT before adding them to MDE). I only mention that because of the comment in the first post about being within the 90 day refund window. You didn't mention if you had e-tickets or hard cards.

Thanks everyone - we have hard tickets. I was just worried about not getting any value out of the tickets in case things go south. We will be at Disney at some point if not in June so paying the difference would be understandable. I appreciate everyone’s wisdom and input!

I've posted this a few places, this is not true. You CAN link your UT hard tickets to MDE and they are still refundable. I just got off the phone again with UT to confirm.

It was the case two years ago that if you linked them to MDE they were non-refundable, but that is not the case now.

Tickets bought from Disney itself are non-refundable.... another reason to purchase from UT, IMO.

Q.

Can I cancel or modify my theme park ticket or vacation package?

A.

Tickets and packages at Walt Disney World Resort are nontransferable and nonrefundable. You cannot cancel or get a refund for a ticket or package, but in some cases you can use unexpired theme park tickets for a future vacation."

You deleted the beginning of my statement, "IIRC" - if i recalled correctly...it's been a while but that's why i added that the OP should check with UT to be sure.

Not intentionally.
Either way... it's not true that the tix are non refundable. Just trying to make that point because a lot of people are asking the same question.

One other consideration we discovered the hard way. If the price has changed, they will allow you to use your current value to apply to the newer tickets. BUT that can only be done at the parks (while present at Disney). Which means if you plan on using them next year you have passed the end date on them, you CANNOT make FP reservations in advance of your trip on MDE because they won't show a valid ticket date for your new time of travel.
We had some unused tickets from a trip a couple of years ago because to get the free dining you had to purchase a ticket (at that time) and we had Annual Passes.
Disney was able to find them in MDE account, but because they were past the "expire date" I could not put those numbers in to make FP this past January.
Not at all what I wanted to hear, so I'm not sure how we're going to use those, unless we renew or current Annual Pass and apply them to that before the end of our AP year.

You may want to get a refund now, so you could just purchase a new ticket when your dates are better. And still have the ability to make FP before your trip.

I have been able to date change UT tickets online once attached to my MDE account.

Last year I was able to move a date based ticket purchased from UT from May to November. Disney IT helped. They could see it in my account and use it’s value toward the new dates. Then I made FPs in MDE.

Not true about needing to make the change in the parks. I had to cancel our trip last fall. I called Disney in January and used the value of my November tickets towards the purchase of new tickets for May. I paid a small additional amount ($10 ish), and now the new tickets are showing valid new dates in MDE.

I’m sorry someone gave you the wrong information. It did take some calling back and being transferred around until I got a CM who could put the new ticket purchase through, but once I got her on the line, it took maybe 5 minutes.

Hi- I have been following the other corona thread but still confused on my situation so wanted to ask here:

Purchased e-tickets two weeks ago from UT and linked them to make FP’s. Looking into rebooking now for the fall, but I want to change my 3-day tickets to 5 day tickets. Can I do this through Disney before our new FP date or should I try and get a refund through UT and buy new ones?

Have you carefully looked at your tickets page on MyDIsneyExperience (phone app -and- website) to see if YOU can make those changes yourself?

Does anyone know if an e ticket has an expiration date? I bought e ticket from UT to use in April but looking like will need to pick new dates. I would like to go next year April or May but didn't know if ticket would be good until then.
