DAK is the only park I wouldn’t miss if it were closed longer than the others. Not permanently, of course, but if it doesn’t reopen with the other 3.

:D That's the park that would cause us not to go if it was closed. AK is pure magic for us and I couldn't imagine going with it not open.

I think Epcot would struggle the most to get going again. I think we can kiss some of that overhaul goodbye. At least the Epcot purists would be happy. ;)

I'm thinking late July. They will want to recoup some of the summer months if they can and before schools starts. People are going to NEED a get away after being locked up. Everyone is going to need a sense of relief, freedom and some normalcy. Especially if the virus, or the next virus might start up again in the fall.

The problem with WDW is that it’s in FL and FL isn’t taking all the shutdown measures it needs. That’s going to likely create a situation where cases spike and make it an undesirable travel destination longer than other areas of the country.

I rescheduled my May trip to August already but...I don’t know. We’ll see.

agreed. I think I’ll trust Disneyland before I’ll trust Disney world.

Most likely, I'd be okay with going as soon as they reopen. I have no plans to do so, however, unless they run some serious deals to bring people back because we've been feeling pretty priced out (not in a "can't afford" sense but in a "the experience doesn't justify the cost" sense).

Actually, it could very well work the other way - inadequate and slow responses now mean more people are already infected and spreading the virus, which means a higher percentage will be immune (assuming that this virus works the way most do) by the time the parks reopen.

Theme parks aren't going to reopen until there is a proven medical treatment, a vaccine, or enough people have gotten and recovered from the virus that a 'herd immunity' to the spread occurs.

Other than a vaccine or if we got it and recovered, thereby developing a natural immunity, we won't be going anywhere..

While I really want things to get under control and get people back to work, it's looking like everything is going to be shut down longer at this point.

While summer is one of their largest revenue times of the year.. it also means most people vacationing. We are likely going to have to continue practicing social distancing for weeks if not months to continue to recover from the initial onslaught of covid19. We have yet to hit the peak here in North America - that is being predicted as mid May. Still a ways off yet. This will be cyclical with some beginning an outbreak as others are coming out of it. With a 14 day incubation period someone will be on day one as others are on day 3,5 or 9. Symptomatic or asymptomatic- still contagious. Still a danger to the vulnerable.

Even if domestic travelers can attend - it may still be too early for international travelers. The international traveler makes up a very big percentage of visitors. Disney is like the rest of us.. in wait & see mode. Until we start seeing the Asian parks re open & when the opening becomes business as usual, then we will have a better idea of what to expect. Until we know for sure how the virus affects North America as opposed to how it behaved in the rest of the world... well - it’s just a guess at best right now.

We are waiting to rebook our June trip until we have more information and a better understanding of how things will be impacted.

I don't really think it has anything to do with either park. The reality is that both bring in crowds from everywhere and regardless of what your particular policies were in Florida or California, the other major part is what was done where everyone else is visiting from. These city and state shutdowns (and a nationwide shutdown as some want) don't really do anything long-term unless your long-term intent is to keep borders closed after you re-open.

When they open again. I don’t expect them to reopen until the risk is greatly reduced. Sometime no earlier than July perhaps as late as September.
