2020 runDisney Virtual Summer Series

Thanks for the heads up. I registered since this Saturday's race was cancelled (and I am getting a refund) and I am still hoping to sign up for the DLP half in September. I am also on deck for the W&D 10k, so these will be great preps.

I was only going to do 'bib only' for the Disneyland Paris weekend but now that I can't do the virtual and our Greece trip was cancelled because of Corona; I'm doing a whole package in September which means (as long as it takes place) we get our race entry now.

I think DLP bib only sales should be available in June.

I am in for the challenge! I'm in acute Disney withdrawal since I was supposed to be there for Star Wars right now. Love these medals!

I hope they sell race shirts on shopDisney. I would throw money at that for sure, if they were cool-looking actual race shirts w/ each race theme & distance etc. on them (not just generic "runDisney Virtual" or whatnot). Race shirts just like they do for on-site races would be fun.

Wow! I just checked the website yesterday and nothing. Thank goodness I opened my DIS email just now. The three races sold out so fast. I was even having trouble registering for the Challenge, which I would have anyway, so I can't believe I got it. The Haunted Mansion medal is so awesome and the bib is my favorite theme. So excited.... Thank you Ryan!!

Same here. Must have not put in a big medal order.
Or there were just a ton of people looking for something to do, since all I can do around here is get out to run or walk. Alone. At least I will feel better knowing I'm going to get a medal for it once a month. For me it is my only sense of normalcy left. I think the popularity was based on 2 things, 1. the theme was fun and 2. most of us have nothing better to do/people had tons of races cancelled.
That said, I thought it would sell out in maybe a few days, maybe a couple weeks. Not in a few hours.

For sure, this theme is the best of the five they have done. They definitely win too with everyone being home.

I think to make things interesting we need to incorporate part of the ride into our runs. For Teacups I'll be spinning the whole time I run, Space Mountain I'll be jerking my head back and forth and then stopping and starting suddenly, and for Haunted Mansion I'll run with a fishbowl on my head in the dark.

:) The Virtual races won't sell out in a day. Last year was the first I remember the series selling out at all...and it took weeks? Months?
You're good!
Wow! I sure was wrong about that! Sorry. :(

Serious question - why would a virtual run sell-out? The only physical capacity-constraint I can think of would be medals. Is the lead time really 4-5 months? There's a local virtual race (#RunningNotCancelled) that came up with some nice medals in just a few weeks. Granted, it has far less participants than a runDisney race. Is there a chance registration opens up again?

Signed up for the challenge. I am sitting on 10K worth of Disney Gift Cards from our canceled Hawaii Cruise and Aulani trip, so this kind of stuff is an easy decision for me right now since the money is already spent.
