Resort Change by Disney

TA is telling us it must have been linked incorrectly when original travel dates were moved

so now we have 2 reports of reservations that were booked through TA's being canceled for no reason. I'd be worried if my trip was booked through a TA.

Are all the rooms that have just been outright cancelled by Disney, are ones booked through a TA? Is that correct? My ASMo rooms at end of July are TA booked as well (through myself) but my reservation is currently still showing.

It would be pretty low business move to switch people from a closed date to an open date and then cancel someone who was already reserved for July 11th open.

People who are changing dates are having to pay. So, in that sense, it seems like they decided to go in order to allow people to pay for those rooms,

But, it does mean less rooms for those later to be allowed to pay to move from closed to open.

The trend I've seen reported on here and in FB groups about moves that are 6/22-7/4 only, with NO modifying by the guest:

All Stars are being moved to FW Cabins primarily, I've seen a couple say SSR for them.
Pop is being moved to SSR primarily, but a couple OKW as well.
Moderates like CBR are being moved to various DVC rooms.
Deluxe resorts are getting moved to connected DVC or another Deluxe DVC resort. (I say "deluxe dvc" to indicate it's not SSR or OKW)

None of the above is set in stone. But it seems like they are bumping everyone "up" in some way. Value resorts to the less fancy DVC resorts, etc. Of course what they view as a upgrade may be different than how we look at it! We are DVC but LOVE to stay at Pop because of the Skyliner. If the parks aren't open most of our stay the Skyliner is kind of moot.

And they "seem" to be contacting guests about 2-3 weeks before arrival with this plan. Kind of nerve-wrecking, but I'm also thinking they are hoping some of us cancel for them. I know it's frustrating to not get your vacation back, but Disney themselves seems to be trying to refund as much as they can. If you've got flights involved through I don't know how long you can afford to wait for confirmation.

We have Pop starting 7/5 so we just missed this recent round of room moves/modifications. We have APs so we are hoping to get a little park time at the end of our stay, but a no park vacation wouldn't be bad in a DVC room.

@heazer, I LOVE ANALYZING DATA! Seriously, this information is absolutely fascinating and I'm grateful that you shared it- even if the trends change. I think it's so interesting to read and follow.

According to our TA the most they were willing to do was give us a “discounted rate”.

Wow. That’s not right at all. They don’t even know if POP will be open then or if there might be others open to move you to. If Disney acknowledges this is their fault, it’s inexcusable not to fix it. If POP isn’t open by then, you could make your decision at that point.

Their customer service is in the tank right now.

Seriously frustrated right now as you can imagine. I can’t work through this because I used a TA so she has to advocate for us

I just don't buy it that Disney would give away space to people who weren't reserved for a date at the expense of people who do that would be a PR nightmare.

I’d at least wait for details before jumping to call someone a liar. This is not the first time this has happened recently.
I don't recall me calling them a liar. There is alot of false information that has been going around since April so I don't see a problem with me questioning someone with drastically different information who hasnt posted in almost 5 years.

They aren’t taking rooms reserved for other guests and those people modifying are only getting to move to DVC or FW. But there’s no question that they are reducing future availability when modifying reservations. That said, I don’t imagine they’re overrun with people willing to pay rack rate for a DVC property.
