Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Dark side:
We are booked at the Grand, but from the 16-19th, so I think it will be canceled. The reservation phone CM had no idea and said their systems were being updated and to call back in an hour or so...Tried calling back and it was busy...shocked I am... The thing that bothers me is that we were allowed to change this reservation twice in the past week to accommodate their new date windows and now the target moves again without informing the front line CMs of what's going on or how to help guests.
Light side:
We now have to decide if we go and stay off site (Tropicana) or wait and use our back-up July 26-29th reservation at the Grand. We have active APs so we should have a chance of getting a reservation for either set of dates.
Good luck everyone as one ray of hope (opening date) shows a deeper unknown abyss (tickets, hotels and reservations).

So what’s the difference now between a flex pass and a pass if you have to make capacity controlled reservations either way?
No one knows.

My guess would be higher tier passes can make more than 1 reservation.

Or all Flex Passes go away and all other passes can make reservations (1 or 2 max at a time) for the already pre-existing non-blackout dates that apply to that pass.

It could be that since the DLH was being refurbished ("construction") and they are now behind schedule, they want to get that completed faster and with all the safety precautions it will be faster and safer for everyone if the DLH is closed. Plus the pool area and Trader Sam's could be difficult to set up 6-foot distancing at the pools and at Trader Sam's? The DLH is my FAVORITE hotel and the only place I stay, so I guess I'll wait to go back when the DLH reopens. Hopefully it will be open again in a few months!

I'm curious how this will work with AP blackouts. I normally would not be able to visit during the summer, but perhaps they will allow AP's to make reservation's whenever?

DVC resorts as timeshares legaly have to open. They couln't delay their opening anymore.

I own at DVC and am trying to figure out the rationale behind that since AUL and VGC remain closed without legal issues.

pho get about in person school and take that family vacay, mass chaos i'm sure for weeks for the schools that are going to try to open.

aul is likely restrictions by Hawaii That don’t allow it yet.

vgc though is an interesting one.

We have a trip booked for GCH for July 19th-24th. Bummer that they’ve decided to push the opening of the hotels as that means we won’t be going now as that was really the last week we could go before school starts. Now that the local school district has said there will be no fall break this year it looks like we’ll also just look towards maybe a May 2021 trip.
We are in a similar boat. We had a DVC trip from July 21-24 at the Grand California Villas. We are thinking about keeping the one night and waitlisting the next. Worst case we may just do the one-night. We were planing a few day break on a long road trip, but it might be shortened.

Bummed about the delay to open the hotel after the parks. My understanding of the timeshare was that they have a duty to open it as soon as possible for its members. I assumed that with Downtown Disney and the parks opening that should be "safe" enough.

Florida is open for tourism and leisure travel. Up until this point California hasn't been ... so I think that they didn't HAVE to open because leisure travel was still defacto banned.

The response I got from Get Away Today regarding printed vouchers

Hi Lindy,

Disneyland will have a new dated reservation's system (at this time no one's tickets are entered in as of yet). Disney just released this information a few minutes ago (See Get Away Today's facebook page for additional information). They still haven't stated their procedure in how guests' tickets will be entered in - but they've stated they will soon. They have said they are shutting down their ticket system for any additional ticket bookings - so it's good you booked yours when you did.
We'll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Thank you,

Since Disney World is not opening all of their resorts, they are moving reservations to the hotels that are open. I will be fine for them to upgrade my DLH to the GCH! Though I wonder if they’ll give money back if you’re downgraded to PPH?

Hotels in California (with limited exceptions) can’t reopen until Friday at the earliest.

yeah, I just don’t see why a DVC resort has to open from a contractual standpoint...seems like an odd interpretation from the DVC ether, lol.

because dvc members are Not guests. They own the resorts and telling owners they cannot access their property is problematic.

You Dreamer..... why would Flex passes go away but all others (lower cost socal passes ) be able to make reservations !!!

lol I know what I own, but if they’re not ready with all the required changes, us owners can’t just force DVCM to reopen the resort.

it’s more likely that 6/22 the DVC resorts at WDW would be ready to go, so no reason to stay closed as they operate independently of the parks.

It wasn’t that they were legally required to reopen, it was more that there was no legal impediment to reopen (I know, tomato, tomahto)

yeah this was a strange prediction, haha...Flex passes technically have no blackout dates except December.

granted, they can just set the flex pass cap REALLY low and still be on the up and up, while allowing more liberal booking from the top level passes & deluxe.
