Should I quickly buy tickets to DL?

I just called UT about our tickets and whether we could get a refund. I think she said Disney made them stop selling tickets today? I think that's what she said. I was trying to do math in my head about what a 95% refund would look like for us.

Did they tell you they'd only refund 95%?

UPDATE: LMTC vouchers must be redeemed in person, so we can't exchange that for tickets until we get there, which may mean the voucher is no good. I looked at UT, and while they're slightly cheaper than GAT, their website says no refunds on their E-Tickets. GAT will do a refund for the E-Tickets for the next 75 days, so that's what I did. We now have two sets of 5 day passes for 4 adults. Now to make sure I cancel one set!

LMTC vouchers are returnable/refundable up to a week before the trip (I think it's a week...might be 8 days or something weird). GAT has a $25v"peace of mind" insurance that allows cancellation/refund. According to their website, the cancellation/refund would be good for the next 75 days, which takes us to August 26. Since that's less than 2 weeks before we go, I would hope we'd know by then what's going on!

Our LMTC voucher is for Park Hoppers, no MP. If I buy new tickets, I will by one park per day, no MP. As @Jaina pointed out, we can always upgrade to PH and add MP, so it's worth it to buy the cheaper tickets now and then add as needed.
Are UT tickets also able to add on PH and MP too? My guess is that MP can be added on via the DL app day off. PH, I'm not sure if you would have to call the vendor to add.

I guess If we did buy base tickets without MP and, and could add them later, that makes sense vs. hoping for MP and buying MP now, for instance. Especially if the tickets are refundable and it might give you a better chance to gain a reservation spot (vs. waiting a few months).

UT was cheaper than GAT, but their insurance was much more expensive. I can't remember what LMTC stands for, but I don't think I looked into any other prices other than Sams Club.

UT usually charges a 5% restocking fee on returns... if they let you at all, since they're usually non refundable, especially for the e-tickets, vs. certificates. When I called them for my WDW Sept. 4 day 1 park per day + water+NBA, they said they'd be willing to refund for free (w/out the 5% fee) given the likelihood that I won't be able to use the water/NBA, but that I'd need to buy the new set of tickets (instead of exchanging for 6 day passes). Now of course, UT can't sell WDW tickets.

LMTC = Last Minute Travel Club. I know that a few weeks after I bought our tickets through them (in November), other people started getting E-Tickets from them instead of a voucher, so I am going to try contacting them when things slow down a bit and see if I can get E-Tickets for my voucher instead. That way I'd keep my lower priced tickets ($325 each for 5 day park hoppers!), and still have a ticket number. If not, I'll get the refund for those (I went back and looked - refund available until the first day of travel), and keep the Get Away Today tickets.

You can add MP to any ticket (assuming MP is still a thing) that is loaded into the app. Adding PH is a ticket upgrade and has to be done through Disney, but you don't lose any of the value of the first ticket you bought; they just apply the cost of the base ticket to the purchase of your new ticket, and then you pay the extra.

Thanks. So guessing that there won’t be PH and if there is, you’d have to take the time to upgrade at the park and lose the savings from the discounted 3rd party tickets. Still think base tickets without MP is the way to go right now. Does MP upgrade on the app cost any more than adding it now via GAT?
UT are done for DL. We just checked. Park Savers directs you to GAT, and that’s still selling tickets. Sams is too but they’re slightly more expensive than even DL official prices because there’s tax. For WDW, Park Savers seems to be the only one that I’ve seen so far. Checked Sams, UT, Maple Leaf. Haven’t called AAA.

Many people have reported that when they upgrade, the value of the ticket was applied, not what they paid. In this situation, I paid $340 for the ticket that is normally $360. What I am hoping is that if they say PH is a go and we decide to upgrade, that they will apply $360 per ticket to the PH, and we would owe the additional $55 per ticket. That would mean we'd have paid a total of $395 for park hoppers; GAT price is $388 for 5 day hoppers right now. It's a little bit of a gamble, but one I'm ok with. We're staying on property, so I'm also hoping that we can upgrade at the front desk when we check in instead of having to do it at the gates.

Either way, GAT only has tickets for a few more hours. They stop selling at 11:59 Mountain Time tonight.

Yes I saw an article from Tom Bricker that the GAT would be offline after tonight. I think that’s 12:59 central for us. We’re waiting on prices from a CAT employee friend to compare it to GAL. Think base tickets without MP makes sense like you said.

Do you know if max pass price is the same if you upgrade at the park on the DL app? Do you have to do it separately each day or entire stay? Think I saw that GAL tickets asked for your date of arrival and when selected Dec., it stated that they’d expire this yr. seems odd but then again, I’ve never bought DL tickets before. They better get extended if we’re not granted access, being offsite.

Maxpass is the same price no matter how you buy, but if you buy it now you lock in the current price if they raise the price before you go. If you buy it now you have to buy it for all days. If you buy it at the parks you can pick and choose.

Whether or not they are extended they will maintain the value you paid for them - if one ticket is $400 then if it expires it becomes a voucher for $400 towards the purchase of a Disneyland ticket.

Ps I like tom’s stuff but he does his guests a disservice by pushing GAT so hard. He calls it the cheapest place for Disneyland tickets every time he writes about them. That is simply false. UT, aRes, and LMTC are all consistently cheaper. aRes sent an email today indicating that they expect to be able to sell tickets for a few more days. I believe LMTC is still closed.

He does push GAT a lot. To be fair, other sites with affiliations like Mousesavers pushes UT, but idk that they claim that they are the lowest price. I’ve only compared it with UT when they were still avail. We were going to look at LMTC but saw that it requires a subscription just to access the site. Never heard of aRes before. Thanks for the info.

do you know of any other sites selling WDW? We’ve only seen parksavers tonight and I think they’re more expensive than the UT free 6th day tickets they had until very recently. The 6 day base were like $938 for 2, sept 3 start. Which comparing official prices, think it’s a little lower but tough to know since not published anymore (looked at a range on moussavers) and assumed 9/3 is like the 2nd cheapest timeframe.

I will be shocked if they raise Max Pass price again, especially with all that is going on. I'm also kind of guessing that MP won't exist for a while. I will be so glad when Disney announces their new policies so we can quit guessing, speculating, assuming and just start planning for what is!

I think before COVID, they may have been planning an Oct ticket/AP price hike to pair with Feb, given the slate of new attractions on the way. But while possible- it would help further decrease attendance and I don’t think they’ll have trouble hitting their park capacity totals either way, when you’re talking about 25-30% capacity to start and going into the holidays - it would just be a bad look for them to increase prices again this yr. Not beyond them, but I’d guess no increase, wait til Feb.

would doubt on PH for the attendance control for a while, but who knows on MP. The extent to which the park hours will be limited/ extra hrs are what I’m most interested in. Hopefully not 9&10am to 7&8pm, 10 hrs each park/day. But maybe by our Dec trip it will be a bit better.

Touringplans keeps a cheapest place to buy WDW tickets calculator on the free part of their site with stores they trust. Not sure if anyone is still selling but I’d start there. https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/ticket-calculator

Thanks! This looks like a great tool because it also includes which date to start (it picked 9/1 instead of us searching for 9/3). They came up with Boardwalk Ticketing, which I never heard of. They also had Maple Leaf (I didn’t see non flex days avail last night), and PS, which we were thinking of using. I’ll try to find some reviews for Boardwalk Ticketing but will consider them. Thanks again.

Yes, she said they'd refund 95%. And that offer is only good until the park reopens. I didn't think the tickets were refundable at all so this was better than I thought. We will lose money either way--whether we take that refund or use the tickets in the park next year and pay for the price difference. Unless Disney decides to offer a discount next year, which I doubt would happen.
