Hamilton on Disney Plus this Friday....who's excited!!??

My feeling is that it is just a temporary thing and then a couple months after Hamilton they may bring the 7 day free trial back. I think they just wanted to make money off the Hamilton fans who would just use the 7 day free trial to watch Hamilton and then cancel. It's right up Bob Iger's MO.
Well they did drop a boatload of cash to get the rights....and now it’s not going into theaters so they have to make some of that money back. I’m not upset at this maneuver.

The content is a little underwhelming right now. For some reasons none of the Fox stuff is on there, so I can see why it's dirt cheap at $6.99 a month.

Crackle has way more a list sony/columbia movies stuff and that's free.

I'm always in all of the doom and gloom threads, so thought I'd see if anyone is as excited as DH and I about Hamilton streaming this Friday on Disney Plus? We fell in love with the soundtrack before we first saw it for my 50th BD in October of 2017. So, we didn't see the original cast, but still it was to that point, the best piece of art I'd ever experienced. We saw it again on Broadway, some of the cast was different. Then we were lucky enough to snag tickets to see it in San Juan with Lin. That was the most amazing theater experience of our lifetime. We're so psyched to see if with all of the OGs.....going to be amazing!
I won the Hamilton Lottery in 2017 for the Chicago show and the wife and I sat in the second row for $10 a seat. It's on my list of my top 5 favorite days.

We'd already listened to the soundtrack countless times and it was very cool comparing the Chicago cast with the original. Like I think (and this is sacrilege) Cervantes was a stronger Hamilton than LMM. And I liked Gregory Treco's Burr a little more than Odom's

The whole thing was just incredible.

I don't think it's sacrilege. LMM isn't the best vocally and is nasally, Isn't the best dancers, or actor or best looking. Though He is scrappy and hungry and the ultimate underdog. But there are alot of performers who are better than him. Austin Scott for instance, checks almost every box. Might be a little too good looking.

Having said that though, LMM is the genius who created all this and has given so many people of color an opportunity that they would never have had with the color barrier that is prevalent in theater (even more so than in movies). He did what was thought to be impossible and proved everyone wrong. Without LMM, none of this is possible and there would be no Hamilton.

Well said. We do Love LMM in my house, a creative genius. And the creative work of Hamilton beyond the performance really is astounding. But honestly, by the end of his run in the role he looked so tired that I started to feel bad for him. Let the man sleep!

I'm sure all the various casts are great, but we hung outside after the show to get autographs from most of the cast and it was so cool how much time they spent with each group of fans.

We're talking about a $7 fee right? They tell you that your whole family and all your friends can watch the premier of a 'sold-out for years' broadway hit that was commanding $500+ per seat, as many times as you like for a month in exchange for $7... and that's a cash grab?

That greedy Iger not letting Hamilton fans get this for free. Really?

I just had this discussion yesterday with my dh. I have seen it live, he has not. 98% of the time, I agree, onstage first, with no spoilers. I won't even listen to the music first. But now that I have seen it, for him, I really believe he will get more out of it live, if he has seen it/heard the music first. Because of the rap, and some of it being so fast paced, it can be hard to understand. I think he will enjoy the live version better once he sees this. It's very powerful live.
I'm going to start listening to the album so I can follow the play better.

Anyone else get choked up during One More Time? It's the one part that made me full on cry when I saw the show.
