I know this is the definition of first world problems, but I’m devastated that I have the points, the annual passes, and the vacation time, but bc the governor of Florida has no common sense we still can’t get in without quarantining for 14 days.

I’d probably be less upset if Texas, Cali, etc were added to the list, but it’s just US while people from far more infected states have a blast.

just had to vent. I know life’s not fair, but this is so frustrating and for no reason.

He’s playing hard ball because the three states now have a quarantine if you travel to Florida. What a shame. Hopefully all states will get their act together.

Technically, in NJ it's an advisory, not an enforced requirement.

That's why my workplace put an enforced quarantine into an effect if you travel to any of the states on the list.
True. The N.J. governor interprets the rule as unconstitutional. It’s unclear to me if he means federal or state.

I mean, I'm lucky and can WFH. So I planned on getting tested as quickly as possible after landing home and staying home anyway. But having to quarantine in FL after our state has managed to keep new cases down just doesn't make sense. Or to fly out of Philly (next nearest airport), even though PA has higher case levels right now.

Then again, me flying to FL with their current case levels doesn't make sense either. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I'm still waiting to see what happens because I need something to look forward to.

totally hear you, that’s what I keep telling myself (re: a blessing in disguise)

The whole states acting like other states are toxic thing is stupid. Just another example of our government’s unscientific approach to the entire coronavirus situation.

completely agree, especially if quarantines aren’t enforced, as @Maistre Gracey and @Novatrix discussed above. It’s so disheartening. I’m afraid our whole country will be a mess indefinitely:sad:

I haven't been paying attention but apparently there is a hotline to call in NY if you suspect someone has traveled to a state on the list and has not quarantined when they return. It's ridiculous.
I'm trying to figure just how much risk is involved with a 2 hour direct flight on a half empty plane, and 5 days at Vero Beach, a private resort.

We'd obviously follow all of the masking guidelines. My employer has taken away any paid sick benefit time if you have traveled to such states and test positive on return.

I'll probably wait until the week before, before cancelling. But it looks like it's going that way.

I think you’re supposed to do the same thing in jersey too. I call it the snitch hotline.

good luck deciding! We’ve lost our April trip, and now July. I’m a teacher, so next chance is Christmas break. Crossing my fingers for some semblance of normalcy!

Reminds me of what the Nazis had people do if they knew of Jews being hidden.

nope New Jersey it’s a advisory not a mandate. I would go if Florida gets rid of theirs. Our governor wants us to quarantine after you visit the states on the list but it’s ok for protests. Can’t get covid from protests he saids. Lol. He even joined them.

I know. It’s so sad. If Covid is transferable in large groups- which we know it is, from science- the virus doesn’t know whether you’re in a large group of protestors or a large group of theme park visitors, for crying out loud. Glad to “meet” someone else with the same disdain for him I feel.

No one ever said you can't get COVID from protests. But as someone who attended two here in North Jersey, I can tell you everyone was masked up and tried to be as socially distanced as possible when we were marching. And scientifically, it doesn't look like mass infections were caused by protests. Especially in NYC, where there was a massive milestone of 0 deaths yesterday. That's a big difference from possibly visiting a Publix in Florida, where my friends are telling me masks aren't the norm.

I get the quarantine request because the last thing any of us want to do is travel and bring something back to the state when we've all worked SO HARD to keep numbers down. I'm sad. I'm tired. I'm over it. But I want to do my part because the last thing I want is to go through the hell of March-April again.

I'm more mad at DeSantis, who refuses to make a statewide mask mandate, giving credence to the idea that masks aren't effective and won't help. Cases continue to rise, and there's absolutely no plan to combat it. Meanwhile, fatalities in Japan (habitual mask wearers) are low despite more congested living cities and their senior population.
