So if I want to ride MMRR, but do not really care about the SW rides....What is the best time to arrive to lessen the time in line? Would arriving at 3:00 allow for a shorter wait for MMRR? Later? Or rope drop with the masked crowd???

Just want to visit DHS and ride it and visit the shops. Maybe do Toy Story and TOT. That's about it. It will be on a Thursday if that helps.

Thanks for any advice.

I got in line about 9:45 this morning and waited less than 30 minutes. The line never really seemed to get shorter than 45 min throughout the day, highest I saw on the app today was 60. There isn't really a typical rope drop right now, if you can get into the park around 9:15 (depending on the hours when you go, 45 min before opening) that's probably the shortest wait.

I am going to HS next week. Our number one goal is also MMRR. I’m back and forth on rope dropping or going after 3pm. I have a Beaches and Cream adr for 2pm. When do you go?

We are going in September after Labor Day. But that is my exact question: go at rope drop/park opening or go after 3 or later when the crowds thin out?

Just back from WDW and we rode MMRR on 3 different days. We walked over from the Swan and arrived between 9 and 9:10 each day. They opened the temp screening right at 9:15 and then we headed directly to MMRR. First time, we were 5th group from front. Then 2nd and 3rd. The ride started at 9:28 each time, so we waited less than 10 minutes. Then we were able to hit Slinky, Smugglers, and other headliners each time with low waits, and got boarding groups for RoTR each time.

I’ve also read that if you get in line right before closing that the waits are short, and they artificially inflate the actual wait times at the end of the night. Good luck, it’s such a fun ride!

As I kinda stated above, the crowds haven't really seemed to be thinning out in the afternoon, at least for MMRR. I think that will especially be true when there are shorter hours. Even as I was leaving the park at about 7:30 last night, the line was at least 45-50 minutes, if not closer to an hour. If you can get in the park early, I think that will be the best bet for the shortest wait. From what I've seen from being there and stalking the app, the longest wait does seem to be the first hour-ish after official park opening time, it was 75 minutes around 11 yesterday. But the park (and rides) have been opening much earlier than that.

So I would say the best is if you can get there early, 45 min or more before official opening time. If you can't get there early enough, then wait until later.

Rope drop for sure. It seemed to be the only time the line was under 30 minutes all day. It is an almost all outdoor queue as well so not fun in the afternoon heat or rain.

From what I could tell, MMRR benefited at rope drop from people heading first to Galaxy's edge or Toy Story Land, or just waiting around to do the boarding group thing. Then after 10am the line went big and didn't really go down all day--it's a fun ride, new for most people, and no height limit.

Why would someone do this? You can do the BG thing from ANYWHERE inside the park, might as well do it from the line for another attraction.

Some of the rides that have indoor queues have poor cell reception and every second counts. I considered just waiting because I didn't want to be on a ride at 10 and risk missing it. But I saw that the MMRR ride was at a 30 min wait at 9:45 and figured I would be ok. 10am hit right before I went inside.

My guess is people are worried and don't want to risk missing it if they end up on a ride right at 10am. But whether it makes sense or not, it is definitely a thing: we saw so many people camped out sitting around on benches/curbs for 20 mins before 10am and then right at 10:01 everyone dispersed.

Well, you do want to focus your attention on the app on your phone, not moving along in line. We rode TSMM when they opened it at 9:45, then waited just outside the exit in the shade (and AC) to get the RotR BG. There was another family there doing the same thing. We got BG 10, they got BG 7, and we both essentially rope-dropped TSMM. Seems like a pretty good strategy to me.

As to the OP, I would not worry about MMRR. The line is probably longest right at RD as it is THE first thing you see in the park. We rode twice, just getting in line whenever. I don't think we waited more than 30 mins either time.

Not sure when you’re going but as of the last few weeks, we had really good luck getting in line the last hour or so before DHS closes. We waited about 30 min once (ride delay for cleaning) and 15 min the other time. The posted wait time was 35 min. We have not tried getting in line at rope drop and instead have opted to not arrive at park opening as DHS has been the most crowded of the parks. Its not the crowd level of rope dropping back during TSL opening level, but it’s definitely more crowded feeling since DHS isn’t that big and compared to the other parks, it’s got the newest, popular rides right now.

I had great luck getting in line right before closing time. The time posted was 25 minutes but I think we waited no more than 15. The lines at HS seem to be the worst in the morning.

We rode sometime around 3-4pm. The SM's wait time sign said 60 minutes, but it was only about 20. The strategy that we used was to keep an eye on the queue line as we were walking around the park during the day. When the wait time on the app dropped to 50 minutes, we headed over to see what the line looked like. The CM's sign said 60 minutes, but from looking at the length of the line I knew there was no way it was taking that long. So, we hopped in line and it only took about 20 minutes.

I totally agree that the lines were worse in the morning.

When we went, we rode it first thing. Got in line around 9:15ish, and finished ride at 9:50am.

I was nervous about reception for snagging a boarding pass for ROTR, and in one area small of the queue it was sketchy, but we were finished in time.

I replied that OP should rope drop, but in fairness, I now realize that is open to interpretation. Currently, a true "rope drop" at HS means around 9:15, when they first start letting folks into the park. If you are there at 10am, you've missed rope drop and it is probably the worst time of day to ride. This is similar to how ROP used to operate in the "before times" when people would show up at 9:01 for a 9am open and wonder how the FOP line got to two hours long already.

In other words, if you are able to enter the park right wen it opens and get in the MMRR line first thing, it is the shortest wait of the day. Otherwise, avoid mornings, but afternoons are bad too so I wouldn't do 3pm either--it is either first thing when park opens or last thing before park closes if you want to avoid a wait.

Just because it hasn't been said, DO go ride MMRR - it's a really fun ride. I was a fan of the GMR and sorry to see it go, but I got off both times commenting how much more fun this ride is.

One important tip!
Either now, or even while you are standing in line, find the pre-show video on YouTube and watch it. Otherwise the transition between the Theater and the barn you load in makes NO sense!

MMRR is an awesome ride, and when I was there in late July, I found it to be relatively easy to get on. It was generally a 25-40 minute wait the entire time we were there, sometimes it would be posted at 50 and it would actually be less than 40. I would say just to keep your eye on it throughout the day, and hop into the line when it hits the 45 mark as it generally does at some point during the day. Even right now as I type, it's only 50, and it is likely less (Touring Plans has "expected" wait time as 41 minutes). We went to DHS 3 times while we were there, only got there for opening once, and we rode MMRR 4 times over the course of the 3 days.

We went the second week it was open in March and again this summer...
most people go to HS early to get a BG. I have had the best experience in this park after 3. We rode MMRR twice and SDD. In the late afternoon- close. Without fireworks or SW show APs and locals dont hang around leaving us that are trying to get as much as we can in left.
From home watch the MDE and make a plan
