Just watched the cruise announcement.

1) Maybe Pete was lit like Ed Wood.... but no where near enough Pink Angora to be Ed Wood. :goodvibes

2) Paul, yes, I'll join ya for a Ronto Wrap.... or let's be real, at midnight I prob won't have a rancor sized appetite.... most likely I'll eat like a womp rat grazing through Dessert Canyon. :cutie:

This sounds like an amazing event - love GKTW and a privatt Galaxy's Edge is just blowing my mind a bit a bit

We have talked it over and decided we will at a minimum hold off - we would have some hurdles to jump to make it work given the kids have school then (either they would have to skip or we need someone to watch them) and some other factors, and then coupled with the no cancellation aspect and just the "who the heck knows what the world will be like then" just can't drop the $

If things change and tickets last then we will take it as a sign that it was meant to be - otherwise, we will have major FOMO and will live vicariously through everyone else

I know I have been involved with planning / tracking of the "unofficial" events for past meets and if anyone wants any help/support I am happy to help our even if we aren't going
We just made the same decision this morning. I truly had my heart set on going. Just too many uncertain things right now. And we just realized how many points we would be using for that time of year. With that, on top of the big anniversary coming up, on top of everything else that is this year....we’re now officially in the “maybe” category.

If it’s meant to be, it will be for us too.

So excited to be going. I just purchased our tickets. It actually worked out for us because it is my youngest son’s spring break. And we were able to snag a studio for 4 nights at BLT and 3 nights for BWV. I’ve been to ne DIS meet and had a blast. Happy for my husband and son to be there too this time. And happy that my older three are away at college and have a different spring break because I could have never done this for 6 of us. Can’t wait to see everyone!

Looks like a bunch of us have already bought tickets to the event. Its still early and we don't know the actual schedule of sessions for Thursday/Friday/Saturday but I wonder if we would be interested in making park reservations for those days. No doubt we are too far out to know what the park hours will be or the capacity levels, but lets start thinking about it.

The MK would be my first priority, especially as we are staying at BLT and the sessions are at the Contemporary. After that, Epcot is next on my list.

I read the site. I read this thread. I haven't heard the podcast (this was apparently discussed on). I now know everyone who is going. I know why people don't want to go. I think I even saw someone mention their shoe size. I'd have to double check. But... what I don't know is:

This being called "DIS Family Reunion"... I took that to mean that previous DIS members would be taking part (Dustin, Oliver, etc, etc). But I'm not seeing that discussed anywhere. Is that not the case? I think that would be pretty cool. I realize I'm not part of the "in" crowd but surely I'm not the only one thrown by the name and made that same assumption. ;) :D

No, I don't think that's the case. I think it just refers to the entire DIS community of listeners. Many of us have make friends through the DIS over the years and this would be an opportunity for all of us to get together.

We reserved MK for Thursday and EPCOT for Friday. Gold AP blockout dates actually starts Saturday.

I read through the details and saw no mention of Ronto Wraps... we may have to crush cookies at Oga's instead.

I realize that now. I just read it as something different, initially. :)

Despite being a veteran of many trips over the past 40+ years, I have no clue how any of that works now.

Do you have to be staying onsite to make park reservations?
Do you have to already have your tickets to make park reservations? (I think I know the answer to that one)
How far in advance can you make reservations, and for how many parks or days?
What happens if you buy a 4-day pass, for example, and aren't able to get park reservations when you need them?

It isn't just Covid keeping us away. It's all of this insane planning that is now required.

  1. You don't have to stay onsite to make park reservations.
  2. You do need your tickets in MDE to make reservations.
  3. You can book park passes through September 2021 right now. The number of days depends on your ticket type. You can select whichever parks you want.
  4. You can actually check in advance to see which parks have availability before you purchase tickets. The site is: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/a...ort,passholder,tickets&defaultSegment=tickets

I also thought the name choice was confusing and was thrown by it but for a different reason, to me a family reunion means kids.

So is the expo part kid friendly? You have to have expo tickets to get party tickets so what about your elementary kids who may enjoy the party but not the expo? There is also a difference of kids being allowed and kids enjoying it. What about toddlers? Or a nursing mama?

If this is an adult event the term “family reunion” doesn’t make sense frankly. I don’t have kids, but I imagine parents are navigating some of these considerations, especially $400 times X people in the family...

Well, after thinking about this, I'm probably in the "not going" category, I'm sorry to say. A non-refundable $400 is a lot of money to spend on something I'm not 100% sure I'd be attending due to the current climate. Plus I also have a trip planned for Mid-May (around my birthday), so it's not like I won't be down there eventually.

It is sad, though, because I was looking forward to meeting everyone from the shows (who I haven't already met) and the boards, and this won't be the last DIS event, so maybe I'll shoot for whatever they have planned for 2022...

Thanks. This is just so foreign to how we do Disney. We are non-planners. We book our trips 8 or 10 weeks in advance. We stay offsite. We decide which park to go to each day the night before. We don't book ADRs. We rarely book FPs 30 days out (we do those the night before too).

To have to decide which days we will go to which parks weeks or months in advance - I don't even know where to start with that. It's really a crap shoot. Has there been much in the way of next day availability? If we're booked at Epcot tomorrow and it's going to rain, can we switch to a different park?

I guess we have to sit down and figure out how many park days we want and think about how we want to spend them. And of course this is also complicated because we know very little about the event itself. Will we want to do the parks on the days of the events or will we be spending the whole day at the Contemporary? How do you plan any of that?

I totally get that! My AP expires just a month before the event; I'm not sure when I'll be able to renew. I don't think I can make my park reservations until I renew my AP.
